Every time tour takes me through London I make an effort to go here. Amazing menu, never been disappointed. Staff are fun and have gotten me nice and drunk many times! They rock some pretty wild shots also. There’s a lot of great Chinese food in this area(one across the street is amazing also) but this is by far my favorite.

We also bought Vouchers from Amazon Local for the«King crab meal» What they advertise that you are getting is not even close to what you actually receive. They are ripping off their customers. When we showed them exactly what they posed vs. what they served, they said to us, «amazon has control over the pictures» we called Amazon and they said, «No, the restaurant does». I believe Amazon here. The restaurant finally agreed to at least cover the cost of a bottle of £25 wine. Don’t eat here!

We used an Amazon local coupon for the king crab set. After this experience, I’m not going to buy any more Amazon coupons for food. Like the time I bought a coupon for pied a terre, you get a short-changed menu and feel unsatisfied. This time portions were small and we essentially ended up getting three light appetizers. The main course of steamed king crab was delicious but was only two thumb sized pieces of crab. Afterwards we got some lobster rolls from smash deli. I did take a look at the regular menu and it is impressively large. Fresh fish and lobster swimming in tanks. We also ordered some hot and sour soup. It was a small bowl for 8.50. Everything is about 50%-100% higher in price than your average high street Chinese. It was good but otherwise unexceptional. In general this is a cut above your normal Chinese and a step below Michelin starred Chinese. The prices are too steep for me to come back. If I want high end Chinese I would prefer Hutong, Hakkassan or Min Jiang which seem better value for money. I would also recommend Phoenix Palace over this place.

Excellent food and service. I come every week for dimsum and some seafood dishes which are outstanding. Recommended!

I’ve been eyeing this place since 2012 because it’s really close to work, hesitated because it almost looks too posh. Finally I made the trip, all 3 floors down from the office. The service was spot on. Our server took the order quickly, gave good recommendations, removed empty dishes quickly, and always made sure that our tea cups are filled. The ambience is classy, clean, bright, plates are properly set, enough space between tables, not your typical chaotic Chinatown restaurant. Very appropriate for business lunch or dates. I was a bit disappointed that it’s more Cantonese style than northern style, for that there are a lot of Cantonese style restaurants in central London(look at the Royal China Club across the street), but not many decent northern Chinese restaurants. However, the food was well prepared. We had scallop siumai, shrimp roll, xiao long bao, minced pork vermicelli pot, house special fried rice, and Chinese broccoli. All were well prepared. I really like the flavour of the xiao long bao, the juice was sweet and clear. However the dough was a bit fragile that only one was successfully carried out without breaking, which was a shame because the juice was very good. It’s a bit on the pricy side for lunch but still reasonable(~ 20 quid per person). Would recommend this place especially for business lunch.

Visited this dim sum place last week. I booked a table before because ive got groupon vouncher to use. I dont know why but it seemed that they dont have my reservation when we got there. Luckily, there wasnt a lot of people at that time. The decoration in this restaurant is nice which was impressive. As a cantonese, I would say most of the dim sum are good. They are not perfect but its already good. My friend and I really enjoyed this meal.

(This review is based on a visit in March 2014. I mention this because I have since been told that the chef or management may have changed since then). Not only offering traditional dim sum of high quality e.g. dumplings and cheung fun noticeably fresh and delicate, but also offering more unique dishes to sample, Bright Courtyard is a delightful place to have dim sum. However the greatest highlight of my visit is that they not only let me bring a birthday cake to eat after dim sum as it was my friend’s birthday that day but the manager even wheeled the candle-lit cake out to us and sung happy birthday at the same time. I have never witnessed this level of service from a Chinese restaurant before and the staff were truly humble and delivered excellent all-round service. In short, from my experience I found Bright Courtyard to be very welcoming, comfortable to eat in and serving delicious and well presented dim sum; which is as good as it gets.

Since my last visit in April for dim sum there have been some changes at the bright courtyard. The dim sum menu is now less diverse, they no longer serve some of my dim sum favourites eg. BBQ pork puffs and meat croquettes and prices have noticeably increased. However the pricing is still competitive for the area. The tea menu seems to have expanded with even more high quality teas priced from £2 to £2.50 per person. We were each provided with a separate pot of tea as we all chose different teas, the servers were more than happy to do this. This time the baked/fried dim sum dishes were not as good as before, although the quality of the steamed dim sum has been maintained, highlights were the cuttlefish Cheung fun and the scallop siu mai. Service as always was friendly and attentive. Despite the changed menu and pricing the bright courtyard club will remain one of my top choices for dim sum especially if I want to dine in a clean, relaxed and comfortable setting.

Don’t bother making reservations here. We’ve been waiting for ours for 45 minutes already. Witnessed in the meantime 2 other groups with reservations leaving hungry — the restaurant had lost their reservation. A complete and utter mess here — and not an apology to be heard. I was«ordered» to stand in the corner and wait. My advice: go to Royal China across the street instead.

Attentive service. Absence of chattering masses. A variety of flavours and a good wine list. Bright Courtyard is everything that you don’t expect from a Chinese Restaurant. Not the biggest fan of chinese cuisine, I am a firm convert to the joys of dining at Bright Courtyard

My family and I have come here about 3 times in the last month. The food is generally very good. The dim sum and the other dishes are slightly better than Royal China across the street, but not quite as good as Royal China Club(also across the street). The steamed dumplings are good — not the finest I’ve had, but they are far from rubbery. The Shanghai dumplings are also very good and not at all dry or doughy at the pinched part. The taste is good and fresh. The selection is also fairly good, probably about the same as at Royal China, and not as extensive as some of the restaurants in Chinatown. The prices are probably about on par with Royal China. The space is much brighter and more inviting than either of the Royal China. I especially like the shiny stone floor(definite improvement over carpet). The service is welcoming and friendly, but not quite perfect. They try, but they don’t always succeed. The one advantage they definitely have over Royal China is that you can book ahead.
