First visit to Bubbleology as part of the New to Unilocal Elite event series! We were served a whole range of bubble tea from the classic milk teas to fruit teas — with tapioca, jelly and popping boba. If you’re a bubble tea enthusiast, you’ll be surprised by the slight twist they’ve put on the bubble tea you may know and love. It’s definitely a lot sweeter than what you might expect, and the flavours really pop. A hat tip from the staff — their top selling drink is the passionfruit tea with popping boba.

I came to Bubbleology for an event held by Unilocal in April. It was a great night with delicious drinks, definitely must go!

Bubbleology, what a great name. The science lab theme is really cute, they even wear lab coats! They’re located right by Portobello Market so you can grab a tea to sip and stroll. My jasmine milk tea wasn’t great — too much milk and not enough tea. Yay for the outdoor patio downstairs and boo for no bathrooms.

I was looking for a good bubble tea in London to fulfill my boba cravings, but Bubbleology didn’t meet my expectations. I purchased a large, cold jasmine milk tea with regular bubbles, and excitedly waited for my drink. However, when I got my drink, I realized that the cup wasn’t even completely filled, and half of the cup was filled with ice! Of the rest of the volume, the tapioca pearls were in large clumps(but of good, chewy consistency unlike Boba Jam) and milk tea was well mixed. Bubbleology really needs to reconsider its proportions of ice to milk tea to bubbles, otherwise I don’t see why someone would pay 3.75 quid to get a large cup of ice with small amounts of average-tasting bubbles and milk tea. Tl;dr — underwhelming bubble tea in London.

A great place to have a drink and have some fun. I used to live a minutes walk around the corner from this place and I would come whenever I could. A very sweet taste but not to be missed. I would recommend Mango or Passionfruit with either of those flavours popping balls but no jelly. No toilets which is annoying seeing as they only sell drinks and is quite expensive so not for every day.

Not what I expected and there are no toilets(madness for a place that sells solely liquid based things) but I enjoyed the tea and the place feels cosy! Loads of flavours to choose from and the staff are very friendly. I would have another(although had to remind myself that just because they taste like fruit juice does not mean that they don’t contain caffeine!)

I loved coming across this ADORABLE, QUIRKY boba shop in Notting Hill during my vacation in London. The staff was very kind and helpful and the menu had a lot of options for flavors and add-ins, like lychee and tapioca. I had a passion fruit green tea with tapioca and it was delicious and filling! I recommend checking out this shop, if only for the décor. The display changes colors and the shop is decorated like a mad scientist’s «boba lab.» So cute!

Pretty good. Very creamy although slightly too sweet for my liking. Tapioca balls are a touch on the small side and lack flavour. They are a little too chewy as well. Staff are friendly.

It has a chemistry lab theme to it. The workers all wear white laboratory jackets as they make your bubble tea. It has never been overly crowded the couple times I’ve been here. A lot of parents take their kids here for a treat and it is also popular when the kids get out of school. Lots of flavors to choose from. I noticed they recently added avocado and taro flavors. I normally get the assam milk tea with ice. I also tell them that I want mine less sweet and they always comply.

Well, it’s boba. Nothing special about it and it’s pretty typical to boba that you can get in Koreatown here. I did notice that the tapioca balls were less sugary but still, it was a good drink.

I was stuffed to the point of explosion after exploring Portobello Market, but I can never resist the lure of good bubble tea, so in I went! I tried the rose milk with boba upon the recommendation of the very friendly man at the counter, and it was delicious. Perfectly flavorful without being too sweet. This was a bit pricier than I’d expect to spend on bubble tea, but I suppose as an American I’m doomed to constant sticker shock in London. If your government hasn’t shut down like mine has and ruined the exchange rate, I’d say give this place a try!

I needed an indulgence after a long, long day of walking, and they didn’t disappoint — I had their rosemilk tea with boba(£3.75), and it was simply delicious. It was sweet without being cloying, and so refreshing on an unseasonably warm day. If you order a cold tea, make sure they remove the ice before serving it; it makes it hard to hoover up the delicious boba after the tea is finished. One other tip — make sure you have some change with you. I tend to rely on my bank card for the sake of convenience, but they won’t take cards for amounts less than £5.

Tender boba, a variety of jellies and ‘popping’ bubble add-ins, bold and flavourful(albeit a bit sugary) tea, plentiful indoor and outdoor seating, and a zany, mad scientist-y theme — how can you not like Bubbleology? They do drinks both hot and cold, which is nice as well. Today was sunny and warm outside, so a cold passionfruit tea with regular boba did the job. Sister got a Banoffee pie milk* tea, as it was a special flavour of the day. Mine was delicious, light, and refreshing; hers… not so much. In terms of price points, considering what you’re getting… nearly £4 for boba seems a bit steep, though not unheard of. *‘Milk’ is not quite the right word to use for their teas of this type, because they are made with non-dairy milk substitute, ie coffee creamer. And that is just what hers tasted like… banana-flavoured coffee creamer with some caramel syrup. I’ll pass.

Love this place! Their bubble tea is possibly even better than what you can get in NYC Chinatown. The baristas are super friendly and always willing to make a sample of something if you want to try a new flavour. Definitely recommended.

Awful, awful, awful! The ambience is great, location great, people who work there are great too but their bubble tea unfortunately they can’t make it. I’ve had bubble tea in the States and that was where I first tried it, it was sooo good! When I came back to London was looking for a place and thought this would be the same but the boba were a big lump and very gooey :(very disappointed my craving was not satisfied!

Studying abroad in the UK, it was a bit difficult finding the proper milk tea or boba spot that could compete with home’s, so much so that I was on a boba hiatus for months. But the fun storefront display at Bubbleology definitely lured me in. The inside looked just as fun as the outside with all the colorful chemistry set, though a bit small, luckily there weren’t many people around so it seemed like a nice place to sit down and quench our thirst. The staff inside were very helpful, and I really loved their scientist uniforms! They were very enthusiastic and insightful in everything that on their menus, and gave nice recommendations. Definitely don’t be afraid to ask questions! They understand that boba is kind of a new thing in this part of the world and love sharing! In the end, my boba buddy and I went for a passionfruit and peach fruit tea with boba, and a jasmine milk tea with boba. I thought both drinks were very nice and refreshing, and the boba was just right(been to some places where they were either too soft or too hard, which could definitely ruin the drinking experience!). I’d say it was a little pricey, but what isn’t in London? And I do come from a place where boba shops are like the new Starbucks. Definitely come in experience this fun little shop and have a taste, especially when more boba places start popping up, and you can be the expert amongst your friend about this new trendy drink!

The staff wore these adorable sciency(is that a word?) get-ups and nerdy glasses to give the place a fun theme. I decided to go for a cold Almond Pearl Tea, which is an Almond flavored milk tea with an addition of strawberry bobas. It was. Awesome. The chewy tapioca balls were great and I loved the bite-pop-enjoy experience I had with the bobas. The only flaw I found was that the liquid-to-pearl ratio was a bit skewed. There was an abundance of pearls left and sadly, no more delicious liquid, so it was impossible to suck the balls through the straw, which sounds pretty wrong, yet funny. I look forward to the next time I can get my fix at Bubbleology! Happy Sucking!

I was excited to find a pearl tea shop near my placebut then was disappointed. :( The interior of the place is really quite cute and would be a great place to lounge with some friends. I tried the hot taro milk tea with pearls. It was very thin, overly sweet, and not even hot. Warm probably, but not hot. And when it is cold outyou want a nice steaming hot drink!

Quirky bubble tea shop with a few locations around London. When I pass by and I am feeling low-bloodsugary/parched, I can’t help but stop in Bubbleology. The almond and rose teas(any of the milk teas, really) are some of my favorites, and though sometimes I get jelly or popping boba, I always go back to original. Some of my pickier friends have griped that the boba aren’t properly cooked or over done, but I don’t really notice that. Its not cheap, but I have a thing for boba tea, and I will keep on patronizing this shop for sure. Great place to take the kids for sure. Not that I have any… but my inner child loves this stuff.

Ok, I love Bubble Tea. And if you’re doing bubble tea in a way I’ve never hard before, then I love you even more. This is Bubbleology’s third store in London and they finally fixed the small-issue I had with their first one in Soho — seating! It’s so small over there that there are only about four tables, making it cramped to sit down. And I am a man who enjoys sitting with a good bubble tea. Not this one though. There are seats along the wall, a lounge area down the stairs and even a small garden with more seats. Yes, bubble tea and relaxation. So let’s talk bubble tea then. I love the bubble tea from Bubbleology. I don’t think there is a flavour I haven’t enjoyed. Coconut — awesome. Passion fruit — awesome. Taro — tasted like an oreo cookie. Awesome.(I might not get the honeydoo again but that’s just because I don’t really enjoy melon all the time.) And you can mix flavours together if you want to. Yes. They not only do your typical tapioca balls but also«popping boba» which are seaweed wrapped balls with juice inside, so they literally explode like a Gusher when you bite into them. Anyone remember Gushers? That’s what it felt like. I have never had that in my bubble tea. Woah baby. Also, it turns out that their«milk-based» teas(the creamier ones instead of the juicer ones) aren’t made with milk, so people with lactose issues can still have them. What! Yes! And let’s finish with the gimmick — it’s a science-themed spot so all the Bubbleologists wear lab coats, there are great science drawings on the wall, it’s just fantastic. They also have a frequent buyer card. Buy nine bubble teas, get the 10th free. Yep, don’t mind if I do.
