101 words review: Lunch was delicious, servers were friendly. Hope to be back. Unilocal doesn’t like short reviews and posts them as ‘tips’. With this added sentence this qualifies as a review.

Yes. Ok. Good food, nothing stellar, great service and great location. The food… yeah, nothing stellar. We had a steak cut and some veggie starters and a fish pie. It was all above average, but definitely not worth the price

The«farm to table» bit sounds clever, but this place is a glorified chain restaurant. They claim that everything is «English,» so, for example, you can not get any olive oil. My fish and vegetables were overcooked; the service was very slow. There are much better options in Notting Hill.

I recently had lunch here for the first time with my husband and we had a lovely time. We went on a Saturday after visiting the Portobello Road Market. This place was perfect for a quick bite in Notting Hill. The décor was really cute and our waitress, Nicky, was so sweet and attentive. My husband ordered the ribs and I had the chicken. Both were very good. I highly recommend this place– even though I’m a bit bias as a Ladies Of London fan :)

New Year’s Eve… The price was 50 pounds for a three meal course. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was relaxing. The pub seemed a nice place to hang out for beers and food.

Great location, beautiful setting. Food was pricey, but eccentric and tasty. We got the beet soup and shared some other salads. The staff was helpful and informative.

Dined here on a Monday night. Ribs were so overcooked it was hard to get the meat off. Side dishes were cold. Service was aloof. For this meal, the bill was outrageous. I was really looking forward to dining here and wish we had selected another option.

Three stars at most — I went for breakfast on a Saturday with four people. Service was terribly slow and the food was nothing special — pretty bland, in fact. We were disappointed, since it seemed so cute from the outside and has positive reviews… Summary: «meh»

Unfortunately, this modern pub falls short in their food execution, as many in London seem to do.(These guys need to watch a few episodes of Top Chef to know that it’s all about seasoning!) However, the atmosphere is quaint and cheerful, which makes you want to hang out and give it a try. And thank goodness we did, for after our lack-luster meal, we enjoyed the delectable Carmel Sticky Toffee Pudding with Jude’s Vanilla Ice Cream. Skip the main course — just grab a pint and this treat. Or pair it with their Apple Crumble martini made with Johnnie Walker, fresh apple juice & butterscotch — you will not regret it!

I finally had traditional Crumpets. Best blood mary’s in Notting Hill.

Very cute and nice place — all the dishes are okay and fairly fresh taste. The only thing is that some dishes seem to sound much better on the menu than what they actually are — which is quite disappointing. I could not decide whether 3 or 4. Think it is 3.5. I did not bother writing the recommended dishes as they would change quite frequently. Def a good option in the area.

My favourite restaurant for traditional English food. We had the pork belly, the chicken pie and the duck leg and all were amazing. The flat breads are great way to start, especially the one with goat cheese and caramelised onion and you can’t also go wrong with the short ribs. Overall a really wonderful dinner with great service. I wish they had more beers to choose from(just one lager, Guinness and one ale, but apart from that this is the place to go for traditional British experience.

I really was anti-this restaurant from the get go but I have to say the food surprised me on the upside. The macaroni and cheese was exactly how I like it — not too cheesy, not at all soupy, nice crustiness on top. The summer bean salad was great, the roast chicken legs were tasty as well, and all the prices were(beyond) surprisingly reasonable. Our bill for 10 people including lots of wine was about 60 pounds a person. Service wasn’t exactly up to snuff for this American Unilocaler, but they were kind enough to put up with our loud group antics. I’d recommend this place overall — it has a fun atmosphere and crazy amounts of different levels and rooms to fit all your tastes.

My stars…(5=epic«best of»)(4=really tasty and want to go again and again)(3=good and will go back once in a while)(2=fair, might return for a visit if there was some glimmer of hope)(1=avoid at all costs) Go or No? Go! Tease: Bumpkin is a farm to table casual, yet sophisticated restaurant in London Why I went: My wife and I recalled Giada DiLaurentis mention it among places she recommend to eat at while in London on one of her shows on Food Network. When: Summer 2011 Food: I have a hard time remembering exactly what we had, but Shepherd’s Pie was one! And it was delicious. As was everything else including drinks. Service: Great Hints/Final thoughts: This is a really fun & relaxing restaurant.

Good but not outstanding. Food was fine but not especially memorable. The value is at best average. I’m in no rush to have another meal here but would not object to it in a pinch.

We were greeted warmly upon entry. The restaurant itself was very charming — a mix between a pub and normal sit down restaurant. But I think this is the beauty of British pubs, it’s not only for drinking and getting drunk but you can actually sit down and enjoy a meal together. We’ve been having too many Italian dinners so vying for a more English experience, I opted for the English Breakfast. Although a vegetarian one so perhaps it’s not considered very traditional but a new experience nevertheless. One of the main elements of an English Breakfast(at least ones I’ve seen) is baked beans which is something I’ve probably not had since elementary school when they’d serve it as a side with hot dogs in the school cafeteria. But with an opened mind I had it and really quite enjoyed it along with the rest of the items on my plate. I was happy Bumpkin didn’t feel too touristy and we felt like we were amongst locals. I’d definitely recommend it.

Met a friend here for dinner after hearing rave reviews about the Bumpkin restaurants. The Notting Hill location was perfect since we both live within the area. The outside reminds you of a traditional pub mixed with a higher class. The inside is adorable– we had a live piano player the evening we got dinner! Service was top-notch. Coats were taken as we got to our table. Immediate service when we needed a refill of water or wine. The fare is traditional British pub food with a twist. The evening’s specials included duck, hare, and rabbit. I settled with a fillet, side of chips, and vegetables. Was shocked to receive the bone marrow on the plate as well! Besides the bone marrow which I did not eat, the food was TOPNOTCH! Excellent! My friend’s dinner was a cottage pie with chips as well. She had no complaints, and she couldn’t finish it all on her plate! For dessert, we both chose the tart with ice cream. The ice cream is served in a lock jar… simple presentation that went a long way. I would recommend everyone to try out Bumpkin! Of course, it’s a bit more pricier than the traditional pub, but it’s worth it!

I saw this place on the top 10 pubs list in London so we gave it a try. Service and ambiance were very friendly and attentive. The food was great and prices are reasonable. Potato soup Mixed West Coast seafood stew prawns, crayfish, plaice, salmon and a shellfish soup with spiced croutons Slow roasted Dingley Dell pork belly with a celeriac apple sauce, roasted carrot and onion Mac and Cheese Creamy egg custard tart with nutmeg and a jar of rhubarb and custard ice cream

This is the place I tell people to take their parents who are in town. The food is better-than-average, fancier pub food. There is a full bar and several interesting cocktail choices, in addition to beer and wine. I’ve only once made a booking here. Sometimes it’s busy — mostly I think they are offended if you don’t make the effort of scheduling a booking. There’s an upright piano against the wall, and oftentimes a piano player entertaining.

The service here was… limited. I don’t really know what was going on, but they did not seem on top of things. Nor were they very pleasant. The food was fine — my fish pie was certainly filling, which was good because I was about to get enraged when it arrived and I saw how small in diameter it was. £16.95 was pretty steep though, especially because it wasn’t exactly the best fish pie ever(and I know this because I once had the best fish pie ever, about 15 years ago, and it still haunts me). My friend enjoyed her burger, which looked really good and the roast was also a massive portion although there was something about it that looked slightly unappetizing. I think I’m just not that keen on non-homemade(not by me though) roasts. So yes it’s fine, I wasn’t impressed with the service, and I thought it was pretty expensive, but the food certainly wasn’t terrible. It seems like damning it with faint praise but I guess the upshot is that it’s ok if you’re in the area but not worth travelling to.
