Byron as a concept really has never thrilled me as much as other burger chains. The Clapham location was no different. I came here with a group of friends seeking dinner on a Friday without having made a booking anywhere. It was the only option that had room for 10. Service was quite good, especially considering our large and somewhat rambunctious group. But the food… oof. Courgette chips that were burnt and possibly cooked in stale oil are just no good. I had the Cobb salad instead of a burger(and it was pretty good) and a number of friends mentioned I’d made the better choice. Burgers came not-quite-right or over/underdone to the request of the person. It just wasn’t to the quality Byron purports to hold itself to. I dunno. Maybe I’ve just had multiple«eh.ok» experiences at multiple Byrons, but I think sticking to my idea of not going there unless at the request of someone else is a good plan.

What can you say about one Byron that you can’t say of another? They are all very decent, slightly above mediocre in quality. They are very affordable and offer salads in addition to burgers. The service is consistent: attentive when it’s less busy and slightly slow during peak hours. This particular location has ample seating, but with Honest Burgers just opening around the corner, I’d say my days of coming here are drawing to a close.

Here’s Clapham High Street’s newest burger joint. Byron is a classic around town and a strong competition to my other favourite, Hache which is just down the street. The space is good and there’s a lot of it. When you walk in you’re greeted by a flood of unflattering light. The fixture above the host/hostess stand is lovely however they’ve chosen the wrong lightbulbs that are blinding upon entry. No decorator in their right mind would ever approve of lightbulbs that are alternatively used to light a car park. You may laugh however the customer experience is everything, not just your food. I thoroughly enjoyed my burger which had been inspired by a trip to the US and seemed quite authentic in my opinion. The service was nice and prompt. I’ve enjoyed Byron on many occasions as well as this one. This American Southerner in London’s only suggestion is change the flood light chandelier bulbs and you can continue your efforts in being the beacon of burgers and not light in Clapham.

This is a pretty nice Byron burger. Nice exposed brick work and helpful staff. The burgers were cooked well and service was quick.
