The layout of the Byron restaurant was interesting with the interior decorated and set out to mimic an old-style American diner. The restaurant also featured table service which was pleasant and professional at the Hammersmith location. We were greeted at the door and seated within seconds of entering and given ample time to peruse the menu. While their menu is not extensive they cover the range of basic burger combinations. In the end I settled for the Cheese, which came with the description of ‘choose from mature Cheddar, American, smoked Cheddar, Monterey Jack, blue cheese or Emmenthal. Served with lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayonnaise.’ I opted for a classic cheddar to see what it was all about. The meat patty was nice, of a good thickness. The vegetables were all fresh and good amounts used. The sauce was not overdone and the bun was fresh. However I was not overly sold and the burger felt it was too safe, missing that ‘wow’ factor that the burgers patties back home had. I had nothing against it and polished the entire thing off but did not feel the need to rush back for another one.

The longer I am in London, the harder it is to avoid such establishments. Walking through any restaurant area you will find Byron Burger and Bills Burgers are always neighbours. Are they close friends or the worst of enemies? Either way, if you see one the other will not be too far away. Byron burger won the decision for us on this occasion as it had the shorter waiting time of 20 minutes on a Thursday evening. It was busy. A much more lively atmosphere to what I expected. The burgers are large and juicy with a wide selection of toppings. What is a bit different is that the burger comes with no sides included, so this quickly builds up the tab. Having said that, my burger was excellent. I felt quite bad for the celiac in the group who had to have a burger with no bun(so just a mince steak). To summarise, having not been to their constant neighbour Bills, I cannot comment on who makes a better burger. But they will have to pull off something special to beat Byrons.

Yum Yum Yum — just grabbed a milkshake to take away and it was delicious! It had pieces of brownie in it and everything.

Exactly what you expect a decent burger. They are delicious and thick and they even cook to the way you like it in my case medium rare which some restaurants /fast food joints don’t like to cook to. The staff are also very friendly. Recommend it.

Is it damning with faint praise to say that this place has a good selection of condiments? There’s certainly nothing horrible about the experience and if you’re looking for quick, easy and lively this’ll do for sure. The restaurant still feels fresh and new because the building it resides in only recently went up so everything has a modern ‘ting’ to it. It’s always busy and buzzy and you get service with a smile, the booths upstairs are comfy and you can lord it over the hordes below. Kids get crayons and lots of attention and food they can wolf down. The buns are sweet and light. The patties themselves are a little tasteless and pappy, but there are lots of fillings to disguise that and all the condiments you could possibly want — as all kids invariably do –to add to the interest/mess. A burger and chips will set you back about £12. I wouldn’t call that a bargain but I’m reminded that my boy squirted about £7 worth of Heinz tomato ketchup and Helmann’s mayonnaise onto the rim of his plate. Enough to make the plate tip. That’s his rule. So I guess we got more than our money’s worth. If Unilocal did half stars this would be the archetypal ‘two and a half’. But I’ve lobbed on another half star cos they do some decent lagers that add to the fun. The heart won’t sing but the belly will be full and the kids will be happy.

Great service, host of burger options, milkshakes and all sorts of fried options(fries, onion rings and some vegetable). Portobello mushroom burger is well marinated and was delicious. Good place to catch a little comfort food with helpful staff.

Visited mid-day on a lazy Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was bustling with families and prams. Service was excellent. Food was really good — MUCH better than anything you could get at Meat Liquor, even on their very best day. The fries and mac and cheese could have used a bit of salt but that’s nothing new in regard to restaurant food in the UK. The table came equipped with a salt shaker, so I was happy. The cheeseburger gave me an instant upset stomach which meant it was fatty which also meant that it was flavorful. The bun was large enough to cover the hamburger patty which was refreshing to see. Overall, a good burger for a reasonable price.
