Byron Burger

Where to start!!! We had dinner here last night, a group of 8 of us. The service was slow. Waitress asked how we’d like the burger cooked, when I said rare, she said, ‘we aren’t allowed to serve them rare’. Ok, so why ask?
Burgers arrived, were a decent size and quite tasty and all of them were exceptionally rare. So rare, that if we were cooking them at home they’d have had another few minutes both sides. Hubby ordered the chilli one as he LOVES chillies, he ended up leaving some of it as there were too many chillies. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as too many chillies! Chips were ok, had better. Burger although nice, have easily had far better and they weren’t cheap. The actual beef patties weren’t as big as I thought they would be. My friend ordered a bun free ‘skinny’ mushroom burger, which came with a side salad in lieu of bun. It was quite pathetically small.
Reason for the low rating is that the service was slow, staff were grumpy and our expectations had been much higher than the service we received as it is ‘Byron’ — isn’t it meant to be the proper burger place?!
Icing on cake was when they chased after us saying we still owed £8 of the bill. At which point I had to point out that we had paid the bill and had given £4 tip towards the ‘discretionary’ service charge which had been added to the bill, but decided that the service wasn’t good enough for the remaining service charge, which they had chased us for. ‘Oh’ is all she could say. We won’t go there again.

Just popped in for lunch today, staff very warm friendly and the food was great. Burger was actually cooked not raw, sides fries tasted like potatoe should, and salad was clean and fresh. Good clean reasturant with the right volume of music cong from the speakers, not brain numbing. Will definitely go there again.
