I’m always a sucker for that huge fresh platter of street made paella. But when paired up with a huge skillet of Catalan stew on the other burner, We just have to sit down and have some. A nice large plate of each and 2 San Miguiels on tap will set you back $ 33 Brit pounds. Yes, tastes as good as it looks!

What is better than mulled wine, steamy paella and a hearty steak sandwich on a cold, but very beautiful day? I happened on Café Brood after a friend recommended the Paella. I haven’t really had great Paella ever, so I was excited to try it. The line at Café Brood isn’t as long as some of the other lines, and it moves fast even though food is kind of made to order. I liked the paella, especially with fresh lemon squeezed over it and spicy chorizo. I was also surprised that it was so hot, seeing that a huge pan of it sits outside in the cold for display. The steak sandwich was also fantastic! I didn’t see anyone else ordering it, haha but it was delicious none the less. It came with roasted bell peppers and onions on a soft baguette. So yummy! There are tables and chairs on the other side of the walkway from the café, which makes for great people watching. We had some fresh juice from the market after wards, and it is located very near a bridge where you can take awesome pics with the tower bridge and the Thames.

Somewhat outside Borough Market, it’s hard to not be lured by the aroma coming out the Café Brood’s grill! The menu seems to include Mediterranean and Spanish food, but perhaps the most prominent items are the two massive paella woks on display! Essentially Spanish fried rice, paella tastes as appealing as its saffron-colored appearance! Mixed with some seafood like small mussels, Café Brood’s paella was decent and the grilled sausage certainly are the cherry on the top. For £7, you get a generous portion of this Spanish national dish! Go ahead and pick up a paella on your way out of the Borough Market, but you probably don’t want to eat it on the tube or the bus. The aroma will make you the envy of the crowd!

Marinated chicken wrap/ciabatta from this place is amazing, its always where I choose to eat when I’m in Borough Market. It’s huge so go with an appetite!

Good food but it is getting pricier(although still cheap — 8£) Best thing to ask here is the half paella and half catalan stew. The portions are more than enough and there are plenty of seat either outside or inside. Staff is not the most friendly in the world, but the food taste overcomes this easily :-)

I came here on Sunday, as I’d planned to go to Borough Market for lunch, but sadly it was closed. I enjoyed a very tasty lamb burger in the sunshine at Café Brood though, so all was well and good. The service is quick and efficient and the prices are extremely reasonable– next time I’ll be going back for their mouthwatering paella!

I’ve tried several dished from here and always impressed by the taste. I’ve had the chicken in a wrap, which I really enjoyed, and the rice dish which is also really nice, although messy to disassemble the 1 large prawn you get, could get at least 2 for the price! which I’d say it’s good. Last time I went I had the new salad box with lamb cubes which also contained chorizo, halloumi and couscous. It looked great and tasted better. All in all an enjoyable friendly lunchtime haunt.

I like this café because it is outdoors and squared away in a public alley. The vibe is down to earth and the food display is compelling to a point that you look at the variety and you can’t deny but drop by to order and lounge! Do get a paella dish and sangrias to share! It was good, but not the tastiest ever! However, the open space, is the winner here!

When you are selling multiple versions of a product, you either have a menu or ask what we want before we pay. We bought a paella, tempted by everyone walking around with big prawns on their paella. We paid a pretty high price for street paella, and when asked for the prawn, were rudely told it’s not given away for free. Then the server went on a long tirade of why it can’t be given away. We hadn’t asked for it for free. We thought we had paid for the whole paella. We would also have been willing to pay extra for the prawns. But to subject us to a lengthy and dramatic monologue on the perils of giving away free prawn is just annoying. Needless to say, I’m not coming back again, especially there’s better and cheaper paella 10 meters from here.

I had the chicken in a wrap for lunch and it was pretty average. It came with plenty of veg however the salsa didn’t really add anything and there was possibly too little chicken. It was lost slightly in amongst everything else. Price wise it’s not too bad and someone who has slightly more time to enjoy their food there may enjoy it more. They have a few stews & a paella on offer but they have all been sitting for quite a while so it doesn’t really appeal to me. I did see the salad boxes there which also contain chorizo, halloumi and couscous and they did look good. That’s what I would go for if I ever visited again

I always see a long queue for this restaurant in borough market during weekend. So finally try it today between my football match and movie. So disappointed with their food! We order Lamb kofte and chicken skewer. So dry and tasteless! No good middle east sauce, bread and rice are all cold too. The chicken is not even hot when they serve it. Also, it is nice to sit outside oversee the church, but the church bells keep making sound non stop for half an hours during my dinner. So noisy! Will never come again.

The place is very tempting, it has some unique charm with all the smell and liveliness. The problem here is hunting for a table because on the evenings it’s always very busy and they don’t have any wait list and don’t do booking, so you have to be quick and aggressive to get yourself seated. The service is good and the food is tasty. Oh, one more thing, head to the restroom much before it would be hard for you to hold it coz they have only one unit for both male/female.

I can’t tell you about the food as I never got the chance to get any after trying unsuccessfully twice. These are the most rude, uncaring people I came across on my entire month long trip through Europe. Too bad as it’s a great location, the food looks good(although I heard from diners it wasn’t anything special and that I wasn’t missing anything). After making me stand in line for at least 10 minutes I was told I couldn’t order. Common courtesy would have been to let me know that they were only using servers so I didn’t have to wait in line. Even though this was not true as others got their food. It doesn’t matter and I don’t want to waste any more time on this, but I would NEVEREVER give them a dime. Too many other nice options nearby.

It was easter sunday and for once, a lot of places were closed in London including Borough Market where we had planned to eat for lunch. The nice smell of the meat cooking on the big BBQ appealed us to the Café Brood. What we eat was very tasty, particularly the burger which is more like a turkish style burger with kebab meat and yogurt sauce. We could eat inside in a small but comfy room, but they also have a terrace. The prices were very low: £12 for a burger, a «german style» sausage in bread and 2 cokes. The team running the place is really nice. Café Brood is definitely a good place for tasty food to eat on the go.

Great place to grab a bite at Borough Market. Everything we ordered was tasty and the sangria was delicious. Sangria to very strong so if you want refreshment it is perfect and if you want to get snookered you won’t like it. The chorizo was very good. Line was long but we grabbed a table and enjoyed watching the people go by.

I don’t knows what we were thinking, but my friends and I got to the Borough Market… at 7:30pm. There was literally nothing except this small café. SADNESS. Hungry and tired, we decided to eat at this café. We chose take out since that was a pound cheaper and slightly went further to seat on the curb. I ordered paella since the curry was out, and it was delicious! A bit greasy… well, super greasy, but it was yummy for my tummy indeed. I got a cup of sangria to go with, and that was the perfect cherry on the top for the night. I dont really know much about paella and sangria, so if you dont either, you may enjoy this place very much as well! the paella was about 5.90 pounds and the sangria was 3.50 for a cup. ps. if you speak spanish, work your charm because this lady in front of my chatted with the chef/worker in spanish, and he gave her a discount. wink, wink.

As a stand-alone establishment, Café Brood really bad at all, however, they are somewhat disadvantages in that, every day except Sunday, they’re located right next to the foody glory that is Borough Market, without a doubt the best location in the city of London for everything from fresh fruit and veg to unique meats and seafood dishes. Reasonably priced, Brood’s paella and sausages are generously portioned, but when it boils down to it, you can find a slightly better and more authentic version of just about anything they offer within Borough Market for the same price. If it’s a Sunday when the market is closed, by all means stop by Café Brood. Besides that, give it a miss and take a dive into the glory that is Borough Market.

Visit Sundays when the Borough Market is closed or winding down; Café Brood dishes out larger servings of their paella and stew for the same price they’d charge on a bustling Saturday. My personal favorite is the paella with grilled chorizo, and Catalan stew(a tomato-based casserole with albondigas, chorizo bits with lima beans) with mash. At around GBP7.00 an order, this is certified dude food that doesn’t dent the wallet.

Fast service, tasty paella, good value Went here for lunch one rainy Friday and was pleased that they offered indoor seating even if you had the food from the outside stalls. The paella was rich and stuffed with chorizo, chicken, and mussels. For a fiver, you get quite a large portion of paella which is enough to fill you up for lunch without putting you to sleep. The waitstaff are friendly and service is really quick, again high marks for a workday lunch. The staff still did take the time to explain the options and also offer suggestions which was much appreciated. Overall, good for a bite, comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, and great value for the quality of food.

Charcoal grill specialists these guys do an array of kebabs, burgers, sausages etc. as well as the popular paella. Burgers are £5.50 and a choice of sausages in a baguette with all the trimmings is a reasonable £3.50. Good, not fantastic but good value for a quick bite. Despite my good first impressions(and a 4star rating) I must revise my rating as a couple of hours later I suffered 24 hrs of severe sickness and pain. I recalled that the folks serving wore no gloves when handling food and juxtaposed cooked and raw meat. Also they handled raw chicken skewers while preparing my hot dog, so be vigilant and ask for gloves to be worn.

This is truly one of those places that smells as amazing as it is. Walking down past Southwark Cathedral, the aromas hit you and taunt you inside(or rather outside, as my experience goes). After a snap decision to sit down because it was nicely busy and the BBQ looked very appetising, we went for the Mezze for Two for £18, and 2 Coronas, although I also heard someone at the next table waxing lyrical about the Paella. The ice cold drinks were fetched within the minute, and the meal took less than 10 minutes. All freshly barbequed, the lamb, chicken and chorizo were all melt-in-the-mouth fantastic. It was plenty large enough for us, but obviously not too much so as we finished the plate — the sides were tortillas and some lovely soft basmati rice. The waiter was friendly and welcoming, if a bit confused(constantly saying«Merci» in what blatantly is not a French restaurant, but I think I can forgive him that), even whilst he was kicking us out for staying way too long past closing time. Very reasonably priced, very pleasant atmosphere & staff, and above all, fantastic food. I have been meaning to eat here for the few years I’ve been coming to Borough Market, and I’m so glad that it lived up to my expectations!

Great location(right near the entrance to Borough market). I love the outdoor area — the smell of the paella really caught my attention as I was walking back on my first day of work. I was a bit skeptical of how good food can be in London based on scouring the internet prior to my trip here. But, it was nothing short of delicious! They give quite a delicious and big portion for the entrée. I ordered the paella with chirizo the food had me coming back again the next day!(I didn’t do it a third time as I reminded myself that I needed to make the most of my one month stay here) Eat here. Give the paella a try. The sangria looks delish as well!
