I am a bit confused by the first review. I for my part can just say that I made the opposite experience. Well, I actually didn’t go to Demsal to have a coffee, but rather to have lunch. Lunch time this place is packed. The prices are between £2 and £7, which isn’t bad. A typical english breakfast is not more than £5 and various salads are also not more than £5. Today I had a Hummus Falafel Salad for £4.50 and when the plate came. WOW! The way it was served on the plate, excellent. Didn’t actually expect it for the price. The taste: YUMMY! The atmosphere in the Café is very nice and the customers diversified from students, employees to mothers with kids. I will definitely come back for lunch…

Demsal gets me through my work week. Every wednesday we have our weekly office meeting and every wednesday we sneak out and go to Demsal for epic breakfast winnery. Being a creature of habit, I pretty much only ever get one thing — The Turkish breakfast. Which is a Beast. In a good way. I posted a pic up of the food mountain I just ate. That’s what you get for a fiver(inc tea or coffee). The food is generally good all round — basic, but fresh and with portion sizes that range from fairly large to competitive eater. With the university just down the road and the fact that Demsal is by no means a secret, it can get pretty busy around lunch, so my advice is either go early, or late. Or both.

It may be unfair to rate this place so low, but it is only a reflection of my personal interpretation of what really good café requires. In comparison to some of the other places I have reviewed, this is not top class. Nevertheless, I thought Café Demsal deserves a place on the map, as it is definitely the least bad café in this part of town. Islington has a few nice places, but in N7 we seem to be extremely poor on good cafes. Café Demsal does not make a perfect cappucino, but still they should be credited for actually using Illy coffee and for making a really good job at an imperfect cappuccino. It is quite drinkable and combined with the general friendliness of the staff, I occasionally drop in.

Good food and not too pricey, but the service is sooo slow. If you only have a short lunch-break you’ll spend most of your time waiting for the food. Shame, cos it’s a nice place otherwise.

I would like to recommend this place especially to LondonMet students(North Campus). It is very close to the university buildings. Simple and welcoming, this café offers a surprisingly varied and good food choice and also drinks. I’ve tried the chicken curry. Found it absolutely delicious. They have a variety of fresh drinks. Prices are shaped for students’ pockets and what you’ll get is going to be plenty and nice. Inside you’ll find warm red wall paint matching the deep brown colour of tables and chairs. Loved the pictures hanged on the wall Not liking though the plastic flowers on the tables! Outside tables also available for better weather days. All in all Café Demsal is a quiet and clean little place to have breakfast, brunch, lunch at.
