LOVE! I ordered the toast with guacamole and smoked salmon and it was PERFECT. Good size portion.

Probably the best breakfast/brunch in London, everything has real taste and is reasonably priced esp considering the area. The price to pay is long queues to get in… Be patient, it’s worth it!

Café Phillies is an institution situated just off High Street Ken. I work close by so my colleagues and I head over during the week for lunch and have never had any problem with getting a table. The halloumi salad is an absolute favourite of mine and the people running the place are just amazing. They’re always so welcoming and the service is spot on. Always on the top of my list for places to go around High Street Ken.

Love this place. Was just walking by and saw this place busting to the gills at 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. I had to wait a few minutes for a table to open, the wait staff was fantastic! They didn’t give me that look of «ugh, table for 1… Loser?» The eggs Benedict was delightful.

Verdict: The favourite High Street Ken independent café of my peeps and now a regular Yay café of mine. Pros: — Nicely located cute and cosy little place. — Accommodating, friendly, lively and charming staff. — Freshly and most likely on order made juices and fruit salads. I say«probably» cause I haven’t been inside the kitchen but my friends love to alternate their orders. — Great coffees. — Lovely omelets. The kitchen seems to know their way around eggs. Con: — Perhaps not the most suitable café to bring a book to. It can feel over crowded and loud especially with the regulars and the staff interacting(conversing/joking).

Great little local café that is always bustling with people. The atmosphere is great and the staff are friendly and attentive. It is not what I would call a quiet café nor would I come here with a laptop to get work done but it is a great place for breakfast or lunch. The mezze platter is delicious as is the halloumi salad. I recently had the pumpkin soup which was also great. A very cute spot which always seems to be packed, I would not suggest coming with a big group as it may take a while to get seated.

Very charming place with great outdoor seating. I highly recommend their halloumi salad, steak sandwich or any of their pasta dishes. They do a beautiful orange and almond cake and serve great coffee. Service isn’t always the fastest but it feels like a family run place rather than a chain and things are done in their own time. At least everyone’s friendly!:)

Went for breakfast today. Asked for a menu after about 5 minutes. The waiter didnt seem interested and just grunted at us. After another 10 mins no one tried to take even a drink order so we left. Had read some good reviews and was looking forward to trying the food. Unfortunatly the staff don’t seem to like customers.

Quite a nice place to come in from the rain. Good to look at, charming, wonderful French music from the 20s and 30s, gregarious attractive owner and wait staff. I can only speak to the Orange Cake, which was lovely. The afternoon I stopped in, the owner and wait staff were busily taking orders from a handful of incoming customers, but they neglected to inform us that the grill was being repaired and he did that only until 15 — 20 minutes had passed. The poor waitress was whispering to the owner, ‘What do I tell them? What do I say?” I felt sorry for her. Not the best way to handle things, on the management’s part. But, once confronted by an unhappy customer at a nearby table, the owner was apologetic and very gracious. He comped their table but, alas, no one else’s. I’ll look in on the place the next time I’m in the city, though, because I liked so much of what I saw.

Very good food. I had eggs Benedicte with smoked salmon and spinach and a bloody marry. Everything was delicious. Service was great. Quite busy place for brunch though we only had to wait 10 min to get a table.

The eggs benedict florentine I had was pretty good. Coffee was excellent, the waitress was efficient. I would give 5 stars if the place was not so cramped. We would have sat outside but it was cold and raining yesterday. But I would definitely go back on a sunny day and sit outside.

This is a great little italian café! We loved the atmosphere! It’s relaxed, the owner is chatting with everyone and making jokes. There are a lot of regular clients here. It proves people come back again and again. It’s not a big surprise. Their omelets, toats, fried eggs, porridge, great coffee and fresh orange juice are so yummy that I definitely will pass by on my next visit to London.

I first stumbled into this charming little café, a bumbling and lost jet-lagged American who hadn’t slept or eaten more than a Larabar* in 40 hours. I may have flung the doors open and simply stood there wild-eyed. I’m not sure. I am, however, sure that the food here is very tasty and veg*n friendly, and the staff is very kind. I sat outside, read my book, drank my coffee and felt a little more human. I brought my sweetheart back the next day — it was surprisingly easy to find again with a little sleep and food under my belt. I had the chickpea and couscous salad, my omnivorous sweetheart had the goat cheese and Mediterranean vegetable sandwich, and we were both well-sated and happy. We still haven’t figured out the proper way to ask for the bill in the UK, or if that’s rude, or if there’s a secret hand signal, but our server was super nice about it. *Cherry Pie, if you’re curious about that sort of thing.

This is a really cute café and wine bar on a quiet street in Kensington. Snag an outdoor sidewalk table if you can, there’s heat lamps to keep you warm. Enjoy the tasty, moist orange and almond cake with a side dallop of tangy Greek yoghurt to go with your cup of well done coffee.
