We nipped in here for a pre-trip drink! Café Rouge as we all know is a slightly up market Parisian themed chain restaurant. I have had good and bad experiences with these restaurants throughout the country however in regards to this one it was an A-OK experience! We arrived and I actually noticed that many of the tables were dirty. It was very quiet so this was quite a shock! We were sat at one of the clean tables luckily. We weren’t asked for order for at least 15 minutes which was really rather frustrating! I ordered a skinny hot chocolate. The drinks arrived at a reasonable pace and I will say that I enjoyed my hot chocolate however this may have been due to the fact that I’d not had one in months. It was an ok experience and I probably would go back to kill a bit of time but I’d hope that they look to take a bit more care of the décor and cleanliness, and their customers.

The outside area at Euston is full of choices for food and drink, but only a few choices for getting a coffee. Nero was rammed full of customers, and according to Momma W, «The coffee can be quite bitter». Then there was Pret, which only had a few seats, and they too were full. That left Café Rouge, which was nearly empty. The lack of customers, should really have been my first clue that disappointment was due to follow. We ordered two hot chocolates, a latte, and a coke. The latte was almost cold when it should have been warm. The same could also be said for the two hot chocolates — false advertising for sure. The coke was cold, and served in a glass bottle, so extra points for that i suppose. Overall, I think I’d rather stand up in Nero, than sit down in Café Rouge again.

Came here to catch up with a friend and we went here thinking it will be good but it wasn’t amazing, could have easily gone to Nandos next door. The food is ok, not appetizing at all, I personally found it too salty but my friend disagreed with me and said it tasted quite nice, so don’t know if I just found it too salty. The service was good, quite efficient and staff are quite friendly. Good for a quick bite to eat but don’t expect amazing food.

Hmmm doesn’t seem to be anywhere in Euston to get a good breakfast. They served mushrooms IN the scrambled eggs… What?

The food is great and service is pretty fast, but the menu displayed on the wall uses very small font that you need to be up close to read(there are no paper menus on the tables). This means that there’s a jam by the front of the queue as people are trying to read the menu at the same time that they give their order. Not a big deal but frustrating nonetheless!

The food is nice but the wait(even for takeaways) is just too long. Also, the only menu is printed above the counter so if you’re short-sighted like me you’re going to have a tough time making your choice as it takes a lot of leaning over the counter and squinting to read the menu.

With time not on our side, and not many options around Euston, we decided to stop and grab a bite to eat in Euston station rather than find a nearby café. Trains don’t wait, sadly! Decided on Café Rouge, that it might have something of a variety of options to choose from, but I was sadly wrong — for this was an Express, serving sandwiches and toasties. There were a couple of specials — an aubergine gratin that my sister greatly enjoyed, and I had a prawn baguette. All the food was perfectly fine, but nothing outstanding. I wouldn’t rush back, but it’s a reasonable option if you need a bite to eat before travelling.

Maybe it’s my Yankee tastes, but this place has some pretty mediocre food. Their dishes come in one of two varieties, too salty or not enough. The view is nice if you’re into people watching though mostly they just sit there eating their food like you. Might as well look in a mirror if you think about it. Try Nando’s next door. It’s so much better.
