Chiquito

Love the food in this restaurant although the deals could be abit more reasonably priced. The presentation was superb (as you can see from the pics) so all in all, it’s the place to go for some Mexican fine dining. :D

Cadena de restaurantes mexicanos. No está mal, pero tampoco brilla en exceso aunque la comida es abundante. Eso sí, los cócteles no matan (y les sobra agua, ejem!!!) y son carísimos.

The only thing that saves this restaurant from receiving one star is the actual restaurant. The restaurant itself is cute and in a great location.
However, the restaurant’s food was not good.
I ordered chips and guacamole as a starter. My chips were seasoned with something overly sweet and they were stale.
The menu wasn’t very big and the only chicken options were spicy. So I settled for BBQ chicken flat bread (only non spicy chicken option). BAD IDEA!!! The flat bread dough was fully cooked, but just barely and the BBQ sauce was disgusting.
I left the restaurant hungry.

I was really disappointed by the food at Chiquito. My experience and service was great, but the rest left much to be desired. I was pleased to see an extensive list of gluten free options, but the quality and flavor of the food was pretty awful. I got the gluten free vegetable fajitas– the veggies were not that great, pretty bland, and the corn tortillas were not only cold but falling apart before I even began to make the fajitas. I went to a neighboring-​ish Mexican restaurant and had a similar dish for a fourth the cost and it was leaps and bounds better!

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. Had to wait 15 minutes to order. We also had to ask 3 different servers for a table transfer. The hostesses are incredibly rude and tried to get her attention 5 times with her looking at me then immediately looking away pretending she didn’t see me. The server was working alone for the entire terrace understandably overwhelmed. I honestly felt bad for the woman. The food isn’t that great and definitely not worth the other 20 minute wait to order dessert.

Our first and our last visit to Chiquito. The place was a little busy on the patio but not inside the restaurant as it was early for lunch. We were sitting on the patio. Sam was out waiter and he was not in any hurry to get to us. when we finally ordered it took forever to get our food. I had the Mexican frittata which lacked in flavor and moisture. I was hungry and started eating and by the time he checked back I was almost done and we needed to be somewhere so I just ate it. The chicken enchiladas that my wife had were pretty good for British Mexican food.
The ambiance of the restaurant when we arrived was nice on the patio. there was music coming from one of the street performers — which was quite good. And then all of a sudden they turned on the Mexican Mood Music — loud Mexican Pop music (way too loud). When Sam came by (finally) to check on us we complained about how loud it was and he just said that that was they way“THEY” play it.
Like Henrik A. says — they clearly are a tourist place and don’t expect you back anyway.
Anyway, I am from the US and don’t plan another trip to London — but IF I did, Chiquito’s would not be on my itinerary.

At 11.30pm on a Saturday night in Leicester Sq, its the only place we could get a table at. We actually wanted to order food, but were informed that if we wanted to sit outside, we could not get food as they were bringing the tables in soon.
An hour later. and the tables were still outside.whatever. They saved us from ourselves I reckon. We had a couple cocktails, not so cheap, and of medium quality. I’d go again for a spot to sit and people watch!

Clearly a tourist place (where they only expect to see the customers once). The atmosphere is a mix of super loud Mexican pop (which I guess is ok for a Mexican restaurant) and SkyNews on muted television. Watching earthquake victims being pulled from the rubble and other gory news bits don’t exactly help the appetite for the adults in our party and made for some scary entertainment for the kids we brought.
The food was boring and it didn’t seem like any of it was actually made from scratch. The chicken was dry and the soft tortillas were hard.

Large restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Food is good but nothing special. Prices are high but this is Leicester square.

Love love love Chiquitos! I came here for the second time at the weekend and was equally as impressed as the first time around (even though I ordered exactly the same things!).
We got nachos to start — when we ordered we said we were sharing them so when they arrived we were surprised by the large portion, but when we got the bill we realized they had given us «sharing nachos» for about double the price even though we only wanted the small lot. Anyway, doesn’t matter because they were lush!
For mains I got BBQ chicken fajitas which are incredible. The meat, peppers & onions are brought to you on a hot plate, sizlling away. You are then brought wraps and a tray of the sauces and cheese etc. The BEST bit for me is that you can order more of the wraps and sides for free! The chicken is also ridiculously tasty. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and chorizo tacos which he said were delicious and he would definitely recommend them (I was too full from my 6 wraps to try his!)
If you are a student, apply for their student card as it gets you 25% off food which is such a help! The staff are really helpful. Unfortunately our food was quite slow arriving this time but they were super busy and the ambience inside of Mexican music and sombreros means that you want to stay in there anyway!

Pretty standard of this chain Mexican restaurant. Although I have to say their service has improved since the last time I was there. I went here on a Saturday night and we were seated before the main rush, which was good as I know previously when there have been most the seats filled in the place, it can take some time for food and drinks to arrive and I think they have the knack of not employing enough waiter staff for the amount of covers they have. The dinner that my friend and I chose was of a perfectly acceptable standard and decent enough for pre-​theatre food.
It is never going to be a wow place and I would imagine a lot of their trade is passing tourists as opposed to die heard regulars. If you want a standard dinner with standard service then it is fine. Nothing negative really about my recent visit, nor anything particularly woohoo, but it did the job.

I really like this place. I travel for business and while this is a chain restaurant they have a few really good items on the menu. I love the Veggie Volcano Burger. It is very tasty and made with black beans. I had this with sweet potato fries and could not have been happier. In the past I have had the fajitas with sea bass and it was delicious. The ambience is o. k but the bar servers are really nice.

Fantastic nachos and margs all day long. Definitely touristy but still yummy!

Service :
We booked a table in advance for Saturday at 8pm and with my experience with booking, the table is always ready to sit the crowd, person or couple. My family members were already at the restaurant and I was meant to get there a little later. I arrived at 8:10pm and they are waiting outside in the cold for the table they booked! As I’m the brave one, they sent me along with the tag to enquire about it. The lady told me that our table would be cleaned, 5 more minutes. We waited another 10 minutes until I spotted the manager and had a word with him. He said another 5 minutes and my response was «that’s what she said 5 mins ago». Anyway he promised that it would be done in 2 mins and luckily for them, it was.
We were walked up to the table and served by a lovely blonde girl who was attentive the whole night. Nice, friendly, confirms order and whether we were still waiting. Of course, everyone got their starter and I waited another 5 minutes to her mine… 5 minutes and waiting seems to be the trend here.

Ok, I can’t understand how a Mexican restaurant is bad at making cocktails especially margaritas. Maybe I’ve been spoilt in having really good ones and find theirs watered down and lacking the alcohol I paid for. The strawberry daiquiri tasted like banana and strawberry smoothie.
Food (Starters)
I had the peri peri prawn as starters which was tasty and I also tried the other starters from family members. The BBQ chicken winds were tasty, the mushroom was good and so was the quesadilla.
Food (main) :
I had the San Pauli sea bass with Mexican rice and vegetables. It was a good dish but I wonder how long my rice and veggies had been sitting on the counter for before my hot sea bass on served on that plate… Cold rice and veggies. No no no!
Other members ordered baby back ribs, chicken and pulled pork dish served sizzling, steak served sizzling and chicken skewers which seemed to go down well. Their food is good and typical Mexican but elements of it really put me off like cold rice.
Overall:
The price is moderate for London but the service makes it expensive for that price. If it wasn’t for the waitress I wouldn’t give much stars. Nevertheless, their food is tasty, it’s extremely busy all the time and don’t go to the central London branches. This joint may be good for crowds but it’s not a place I would visit out of my own choice … I think they are overpriced and don’t stick to the principles of advance bookings.

We popped in for lunch during some Christmas shopping and it was not that busy. The service was excellent and the food was good. It cost just over £20 for a plate of Nachos to share and I had a burrito and my daughter had a chicken wrap. For all the Mexican food conisours (is that spelt right!) it may not be the best Mexican or most authentic but we liked it and it made a change from Italian or American food in the West End. It’s a good location too.

Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat before the theater. Got seated within moments. It’s very Mexican inside and has a fun environment. Out waitress came over right away and was incredibly attentive and friendly. We opted for the strawberry mojitos. They came right away. They were incredibly sweet, tasted like strawberry syrup. Not my cup of tea but I’ll chalk it up to a difference in taste.
For dinner we got the 15 quid deal for a starter and a main. Got the quesadilla bites as the started and the burrito as a meal. For better or worse the meal came out in approximately 2 minutes. We asked for both at the same time and both arrived together. The runner and the server were both amazing. The quesadilla bites were quite delicious. They seemed to be in some type of sauce so it was really something that had to be eaten with a fork and knife rather than finger food that could be picked up and eaten with your hands. Both were satisfying enough, but obviously more of a quick meal chain restaurant feel to it. The burrito came with tortilla chips (crisps), guacamole, sauce and sour cream. The one complaint is that the guacamole tasted bad. It was clear that it had chunks of avocado in it but it tasted really off… Like rancid. Not sure if the avocado went bad but even if that was the case it shouldn’t taste like that.
Overall we came in at 7:08 and had our bill paid by 7:33 so as far as a quick meal goes it wasn’t that bad and not that expensive for two people. A+++ for the servers

I think Chiquito performs as expected for a chain with a larger, mismatched menu like this. I was with a couple of friends and needed a pre-​theatre meal in the leicester square area, so Chiquito’s was suggested, and as they had some veg options and I was hungry I went along with it.
I ordered a black bean burger with chilli on top, sweet potato fries on the side, and a glass of Spanish wine. It was good, but not great. The wine was probably my favourite part. The service was good except for how long the drinks took — every time we ordered a drink it took at least 15 – 20 minutes, which is unusual. My friends agreed, it’s overall A-​OK, but nothing to get super excited about.

I know this might sound harsh, but this place is awful. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for Tex Mex food. To rattle off a few complaints, the salsa tasted more like spaghetti sauce, the margheritas were wayyy too sugary, and the quesadilla was just flat out underwhelming. There was nothing Tex Mex or even tasty about this food.
Please don’t go.

I went to the relaunch night after their makeover and i was impressed.
The cocktails were flowing i had a strawberry margarita followed by a mango one then on to the obligatory salt shot lime lol.
We shared a nachos while looking at the menu, the starters were nice but the nachos were the best, I had a rib eye steak, over done on the first go but they replaced it with a perfect steak no problems.
Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. They also had a live band and dancers which was a great touch.
A real difference from the last time i went, so i will def be back to see if its the same on a non launch night

I was drunk. It was one of the few places that was still serving food that was not ramen or Chinese after 11pm. I wasn’t going to eat. I didn’t care. I can just sit there and laugh at the people who wanted to eat there.
I ended up having some extremely potent and girly drinks here. Jugs are not bad for the price here. Very girly.
Despite being incredibly drunk, I still didn’t like their food and thought it was icky.

J’ai ete au Chiquito avec des collegues de travaille pour essayer la cuisine mexicaine et je dois avouer que je n’ai pas ete decu. Les plats son bien cuisines et les epices bien dosees. Malgre une table de 18 personne, le service fut relativement rapide. Les cocktails sont bien mixes et l’ambiance latino qui regne dans restaurant m’a charme.
