Chopstix is still just a Chinese takeaway. Actually, even more so after a brief branching out into seated dining(no table service, mind). The whole place has been overhauled since my original review and actually looks a lot more inviting. It now has a row of seats along a table by the window, apart from that it’s back to basics. A Chopstix dinner box remains a major guilty pleasure, still good value even though prices have doubled in recent years. The satay chicken no longer comes as a standard but they are happy to oblige is you ask for it. Mind you, I’ve moved on to chilli black bean sauce … Another major change to a few years back is that they now deliver.

I’m pretty picky with Chinese food, and this one is great. One of my favorite spots to eat. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because the one lady who always works there has been rude to me a few times.

Chopstix is clean and modern looking so that is a plus. The service is that of a typical Chinese restaurant. I tried the stir fried mushrooms, spicy aubergine, and the squid with ginger and scallions. Both the veggie dishes were very oily but the ingredients in all the dishes were fresh and colorful. The spicy aubergine came with a ton of red and green bell peppers as well as onions. They overdid it with the scallions in the squid dish though. I must have had half a plate of scallions in there. If they could ease off on some of the oil this place would be a lot better.

Aaaaaa, Chopstix. A year ago this place was very humble. Just a square with white wall tile, wobbly tables and squeaky chairs. The staff was always in a hurry, annoyed and didn’t know English very well. While waiting for your food, you could hear them arguing in the kitchen and slamming doors. Or is that the Chinese custom?! Anyways, it was our local Chinese take away… We didn’t really like the food, except for the sweet& sour chicken Hong Kong style and(my personal favourite) crispy roast pork! I was soooo happy to find this dish. It was delish and full of flavours and the meat was crisp and the sauce was to die for. But my dreams soon shattered because as soon as they had enough money they closed for redecorations. Uuuu, exciting, I though. Now, Chopstix is an open plan oriental kitchen restaurant! and they removed my crispy roast pork from the menu! NoooooOOooooooooO! The place looks really cool and people actually started having their food there, in the restaurant. Before, even though they had chairs and tables, nobody enjoyed their food there. But now it looks well fancy. I will try it soon and see if the food got any better. My only hope is that they still have the crisp pork just that they changed the name.

I love this place. Always the same lady at the counter, same quick service. The food is always consistently good. It’s a joy to find somewhere that always delivers just what you expected. I love it’s consistency and wide menu.
