We stayed for 10 days and were very happy with Citadines St Marks in Islington. We opted for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment on the ground floor. The bedrooms were large with soft, comfy double beds and closets and a chest of drawers for extra storage. Lots of natural light and both bathrooms were large with tiled floor and showers. Liquid hand soap and bar soap were provided in both bathrooms, as well as an iron and hair dryer. The living room has hardwood floors, a sofa, 2 soft chairs, flatscreen tv with dvd player, stereo, and a dining table for 4. All of the windows open for that nice London breeze. The kitchen is fabulous. It contains a large refrigerator and freezer, full size dishwasher and washer/dryer combo, oven, microwave, and 4 ring gas stove. All dishes and silverware are stocked, including liquid dish soap, towel, dishwasher tablets and laundry tablets. Do bring ice trays if needed. Everything in the flat was immaculate. The showers had a lot of pressure and never ran out of hot water. Please note that the washer/dryer is combined by UK standards. There is no separate tumble dryer, it is simply one unit and you will most likely need to hang your clothes for a bit afterward. The heavy doors inside the flat do close automatically, so we brought 4 door stops. This is great to keep little hands safe from an otherwise slamming doors. It also really opens up the apartment. We opted to have our first round of groceries delivered. We had never used this service before, but it proved beneficial as we opted for a late time slot and cost us next to nothing. This way, we didn’t have to carry water bottles and basic heavy essentials. We used Tesco, but all of the major grocers will deliver for a small fee. The staff were always welcoming and professional. The desk is open 24 hours and if we needed towels or dish soap etc, it was readily available. They also provided us with a fan for our flat. Anytime we had a question prior to our arrival, we had an answer usually within 2 hours. There is also a Co-operative Food store directly across the street open 7 days/week 7am-11pm. The store has everything from fresh sandwiches, Indian meals, ice cream, breakfast to wine and beer with amazing prices. Definitely worth a visit. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel gate and 2 stops you are at Angel Islington High Street, with many pubs, cafes, and shops. The bus will get you there in 1 minute or it’s about a 5 minute walk. Buses 205 and 214 also take you directly to Kings Cross within 10 minutes. 205 will also take you directly to Paddington station. The location is excellent and very safe. We can’t fault the hotel in any way. This Citadines gets 5 stars from us. Room Tip: Bring 4 door stops and ice trays if desired.

When my family was booking their visit to London I wanted to make sure that they were in a hotel that was quite close to me in the King’s Cross/Islington area. In hindsight, the hotel’s proximity to my house was irrelevant… as I ended up staying in the apartment with them for the entirety of their 10 night visit… but I think we should think of that as a testament to how awesome Citadines St Mark’s is! Here are the things that I liked: 1) Amazing transport links. Super close to busses that could get my father and sister to any tourist attractions they might want to visit. Also reasonably close to Angel station which is suer connected to transport all over the city. 2) Proximity to Islington High Street/Upper Street/Camden Passage. Tons of places to eat and drink and shop super close! Also a co-op right across the street. A bit further away is a GIANT Sainsburys. 3) Size and design of flat. The apartment was absolutely beautiful with high ceilings and attractive furniture. The kitchen was everything that we needed with a fridge for breakfast and leftovers, a kettle and a microwave to heat them up. Also, the kitchen had, included, everything you might have needed to cook and save some cash on your vacation. 4) Cost. We got a discount for booking in advance and multiple nights. Some Drawbacks: 1) Parts of the flat were dirty/in sort of disrepair. The washer/dryer did not work at all. The oven struggled to heat up. The bathroom had a bunch of chipped paint. Also, the milk for tea left in the kitchen had gone off. 2) The wifi. This was no big deal for me, as I used their vacation as an opportunity to unplug from schoolwork and the internet, but I can imagine if you were here for a business trip or didn’t have data on your phone(which I do) this might have been a total dealbreaker. All in all a convenient and comfy place. Would return!

Citadines St Mark’s is an aparthotel geared more at guests staying for several nights, but I stayed here last night for just the one. You see, I’d won tickets to the infamous Unilocal Pignic, which came with is credit on the last-minute hotel booking app Hotel Tonight. As I was coming with my sister who needed to stay near Angel for an event the next day, I picked St Mark’s as it was by far and away the closest accommodation on the app. It is, in fact, less than 10 minutes walk from Angel tube station, so pretty conveniently located. We had a one bedroom apartment, with a kitchen, a bathroom and a wee patio outside which I can imagine we’d have used if we’d have been staying for longer(or it had been particularly sunny). The bed was a neat double, but we’re only wee, and the kitchen was better designed and laid out than the very similarly sized one in my own flat. It had a full fridge freezer, a microwave, stove and a washing machine! Somewhat old fashionedly the room also had a CD HiFi player… an iPod dock would probably be more useful nowadays. The only real downside was that the wifi was rubbish. Not once during our stay were we able to get a strong enough signal to connect, and I’d imagine this would prove to be very inconvenient if you were staying for any longer or were on a business trip. It was also £126 for our stay, which I fully appreciate is not bad for a last minute stay in central London, but would prove costly if you were staying longer. I can only assume it’s cheaper if you book in advance. All in all though, we liked St Mark’s. The room was nice, it was clean and it was well located. Thumbs up.

We stayed here for 5 nights in a two bedroom apartment. Very nice, spacious and clean. Convenient stores around for all basic necessities and especially the coop across the street for groceries to use in nice kitchen. Staff was friendly and helpful but we did not have any maid service. Convienent to Angel station and bus lines… and very close to upper street, a very nice area of shops, pubs, etc.
