Wish I could rate the food itself but wasn’t allowed to. After a long drive to get there, as soon as I crossed their door I was yelled at(by a hassled looking woman at the counter): «sorry, but we cannot sell you *anything* today as the till is broken!». She told me this as she was apparently struggling to receive payment from another customer. I assumed this customer(and the other ones from the only two occupied tables) had been served before the misshap, turned on my heels and left. Paid the outrageously expensive hourly rate from the local car park(for all of the ten minutes my car actually remained under their roof) and drove away. At home I wrote them suggesting next time they could accept cash payment, as it seemed like a logical solution to me, and surprisingly was told they had been normally accepting cash that day and a «miscommunication» might have happened. If by miscommunication they meant being kicked out from the premises after a perfectly clear message(if somewhat loud and rude) had been sent, then yes, maybe. In this case I can only assume that for some reason they didn’t want ME in the café? Oh well. It’s hardly the only place serving tea and cakes in London and I have been welcomed in many. No need for me to go out of my way to come here, as customer service really isn’t their strong point.

The salted caramel cronut is enough to make me decide to move here. I’ll be fat and broke, but happy. Seriously, this is the best thing I have ever tasted. Try it and have no regrets… unless you’re diabetic.

Tried a piece of chocolate cake and it tasted very nice. However I didn’t find any cronuts :(, such a pity.

After a lovely wander round Regent’s Park on bank holiday Monday, bf and I headed back home via Connaught street and thought we’d pop in to Cocomayas for a coffee and cake. Unfortunately it was gone 3pm and all their cronuts had sold out so we didn’t get to try another flavour(been once before but dying to try a few different flavours). Although not sunny it was warm so we sat outside with a latte(really good) and some cake. I got the pecan slice and bf had the chocolate cheesecake bar. Both were delicious. There were tonnes of other cakes I wanted to try but for the size(quite small) they were pretty expensive! It was lovely to sit out side with delicious treats. A definite recommend. Even there tap water comes out in a jug filled with lemon, orange, cucumber and raspberries to make it taste ultra refreshing Will definitely be back for more treats and dying to try their sandwiches and salads!

Love, love this place. I came for the cronuts and I was not disappointed(well, only slightly). The BF researched cronut bakeries and read that Cocomaya offered one of the best selections in London. I was super excited. Getting to this place was a bit of a trek from our hotel, but totally worth it. By the time we got to Cocomaya around 3PM on a Saturday, sadly, there was only one flavor left. Strawberry. However, it was magically delicious and possibly life altering as I reflect on the experience writing this review. It was fruity and creamy, yet light, all at the same time. It was truly one of the most delicious things I have tasted and I can’t wait to go again(earlier this time) and try more flavors(hopefully not all in one sitting). The eating area is very rustic and mix-match/post-modern. It had tons of character and I loved it. Service was good, polite and not rushed.

Good pastries and coffee but BEWARE… donuts and Cronuts that I still pay $ 1,75 in Brooklyn costs a whopping £3,50 to £4,50 at this establishment. Don’t get me wrong, they are tasty… but oh dear…

Delicious CRONUTS. That’s all I know. Came here because Mister Andrew M. pre-ordered some delicious cronuts for us. After having some coffee, the cronuts came out from the back refrigerated. Although I would’ve liked them room temperature(frosting was crumbling off), they were still tasty. Part flakey, part doughey, but as a whole = DELICIOUS! They come at a price though… nearly £5 for one. Yikes!

Becky H and I tried the Sicilian Lemon cronut(called the croconut) from Cocomaya twice. First, we got one via Wild & Coffee near Holborn at 11am. This cronut was massive and required a bit of jaw unhinging to get in a full bite, but damn it was good. It’s an airy flaky pastry with defined layers and a doughnut-y softness inside moistened just a bit by drops of cream. A potent sicilian lemon glaze on the top gives it most of its flavour and it’s dressed with scattered flower petals. All in all, it gives you a strong impression of spring backed up by it’s fresh and clean flavours. For £3.70, it’s a bit pricey and the most expensive cronut we’ve come across so far. Taste-wise, it’s on par with Rinkoff, but loses points for the much worse value for money proposition. That following Saturday, we zipped across town to the Cocomaya bakery near Marble Arch as we wanted to see how it was from the source(and grab one for Grant T). I had tweeted a few days earlier and reserved 4 of their Sicilian Lemon cronuts for our group to try. After a little bit of confusion, they brought out a large box of chilled cronuts and a hefty bill to match. At £4.50 a pop, this is by far the most expensive cronut I’ve seen. I’m not quite sure how they charge more at their own shop than through Wild & Coffee, but maybe it’s justified by being in a posher and pricier area. The cronut is largely the same although they lose presentation points for replacing the flowers with a haphazard scattering of sprinkles. By chilling the cronuts they also ruined the lemon glaze which cracked and fell off the pastry after the first bite, removing most of the flavour. Basically, it’s a great cronut copy, but if you can get over to Wild & Coffee for it and save some money. Every little bit helps, right?

The Cronut craze has hit London, and Cocomaya is on top of the game! While the Cronut name is trademarked, several bakers have resorted to calling these cro-doughs(or in other Duck + Waffle’s case: dosants!) A number of us went on a Cronut crawl, and the cro-dough by Cocomaya ended up being one of the top contenders. While most people don’t have time to go to NYC to sample the original Cronut, and not knowing exactly what to expect out of a Cronut, I think this one gives me a good feel on what it should taste like. With an impressive 2″ height in flakey croissant layers, the cro-dough is nicely fried and crispy on the outside, with lots of fluffy layers on the inside — much like sinking into a cloud. Unless you have a detacheable jaw, it is impossible to get a full bite into this baby. It wasn’t dense at all, and not greasy on the outside, not overly sweet. I think a lot of bakers struggle to get the whole donut feel without making it overly greasy, but I think they have done it perfectly. Every month, Cocomaya makes a flavor of the month, so we tried the Sicilian Lemon, which was really good. The bright yellow glaze on top has a nice tart tang to it, and there were colorful purple /pink flower petals on top which really made the colors pop. The flowers are more for looks, but they really don’t taste like anything. I prefer citrus flavors, so this was a win in my books. There was a lemon curd + cream mixture piped on the inside, but I personally couldn’t sense any lemon flavor in the cream, and neither could anyone else. Either way, it was still good. While this was the best cronut I’ve had so far, the price is pretty steep. but I think its one of those things where you’ll just have to suck it up and pay to try at least once. I’ve tried the cronuts 2 times: one was from Wild + Wood Coffee(which Cocomaya supplies), and the other was direct from Cocomaya’s bakery. PRICE: At Wild + Wood Coffee: £3.70 for take away, £4.60 for eat in. At Cocomaya: its £4.50 each. Definitely the priciest cronut we’ve had so far, with others averaging around the £2.50-£3 mark. There’s a limited number made each day, so make sure you get there early, or reserve! I thought this tasted the best when it was fresh, and NOT refridgerated(which sometimes happens when you reserve), because the inside doesn’t feel as fluffy, and the icing gets crumbly and shatters apart. Enough about the cro-dough review — everything else in Cocomaya looks impressive enough for me to return, with a nice selection of baked goods. They also offer afternoon tea for £25, where(I believe) you are able to select your own sandwiches and pastries. so I’m definitely looking forward to this on my return. If you have a sweet tooth, they also make artisan chocolates in a separate store next door. Now head over to Cocomaya and get in line!

Outside seating with heating! I was actually craving morning muffins for some strange reason, so I typed the key word into Unilocal and this spot came up And I can see why. It’s a tiny French bakery filled with sweets and baked goods, all sitting on platters throughout the store, ready for you to point and go, «That one.» I got a chocolate banana muffin(which was heavy on the chocolate, light on the banana, but I actually liked it that way) and a croissant. Both amazing and insanely fresh. They also do a nice cup of coffee and a strong cup of hot chocolate. There’s no much space for sitting inside, and a few tables outside(which they can turn the heating on, but it still doesn’t stop your bum from freezing on those metal chairs). This is a place to go for sure. But do stop in and take something to go. It is worth it.

I have to write a 5 star review for COCOMAYA because it’s one of my favorite spots in London. Everytime we are in London I make sure to stop by here. It is stylish, clean, delicious and pretty. I am extremely picky about my bakery items and pastries but cocomaya does a super job! This is the kind of place where I want one of everything each time I go. I take so long deciding what I’ll order just because everything looks so good and fresh! I love how the décor is unique and comfortable/cozy. I’ve never sat next door where the chocolates are. but ooo I stop in each time as well! The chocolate pistachio croissant is my all time favorite, with a cup of Earl Grey tea please! :) I’ll have to post pictures at a later time.

savory croissant(leek and bechamel) which they heat up SOGOOD! mini cinnamon danishes were also so good. this was where i first had scones and clotted cream, i thought it was delicious but my friend said the clotted cream was just ok. perfect place to eat and have tea outside on a nice day! especially early in the day… perfect. second time i went, they ran out of the croissant(SAD) so i got the… i forget what it was called, other savory veggie thing(i remember it had a tomato because i accidentally squirt someone with it when i cut into it). it was cold and not nearly as good. but their baked good… are delicious! would’ve liked to have high tea there. but every time it was so relaxed and perfect! a lady even sat next us with an exact puppy version of my dog back home and i melted… great memories.

I liked how all of their cakes are out on display… you can even touch them(please don’t). We wanted to go for afternoon tea but you have to make reservations 24 hours in advance so they can prepare it for you. FYI, afternoon tea is 25 pounds/person. Instead we had a cup of tea and a few cakes. they served our teas in different pots and cups… it’s a very cute shop.

cocomaya hot chocolate, you’re making me LOVE my commute. £4 for a «large» cup to go, it’s just drip of heaven in a cup! Thank you Timeout for your suggestion, this is the PLACE!!! costs a LOT but totally worth it for a heavenly experience. Be prepared to wait for it though… took the girl 12 minutes in the morning to make it… maybe the machines weren’t turned on yet… giving them the benefit of the doubt… can tell you though that i will be back!!! love you cocomaya!!!

Delightful little shop of baked treats. One of the best places to find cakes, pies, and other pastries in London. Very friendly staff — whatever they pay them, it’s not enough! (And yes, the shop is just round the way from one of the Blairs’ homes, so don’t mind the assault rifle-wielding bobby on the corner as you pass by.)

A few steps away from Tony Blair’s new residence, this new bakery/chocolate shop is a reflection on design, fashion and sweets. The interior design is warm and voluntarily rustic. The staff is young and friendly and you get to choose from cakes, brioches and sweets artistically shown around the room. I had a very fine earl grey tea with a chocolate cinnamon breakfast cake that was light tasty and fluffy despite its obvious phallic shape. I wish I could have had a taste of just about everything in the store, from the pear tart to the little chocolate snowmen on the shelves. I will definitely go again on my next trip to London.
