Really good fresh fish. The batter was crispy and the fish was moist and tasty. Loads of chips in a portion. I also ordered a beef and onion pie which wasn’t hot so he microwaved it; that wasn’t good. The owner was a nice and chatty. Would definitely go there again.

Collin’s is a family run business and has been here since 1981, I can see why. Being from up north I’m always looking for somewhere with crispy batter and proper chip shop chips! The shop is dated but the food is great. I shared a large crispy battered sausage, the smallest fish they do(it was ample food for 1!) and a large chips, all for £8. The fish was fresh and soft and had a lovely thin crispy batter. It was all cooked to order, small wait but worth it. The owners are very friendly and we had a chat while I waited. They only take cash but the co-op over the road has a free cash machine inside.

Very good fish and chips. Not too greasy and the batter’s nice and light. The owner is friendly. Although he looked a bit nervous when I explained I’d been away for 5 years. It was only afterwards that I realised that it could’ve sounded like I’d been incarcerated at Her Majesty’s pleasure. I meant to tell him that I’ve been living abroad. To sum up, the best fish and chips I’ve had in at least 5 years!

Great chips — soft and crispy in all the right places, just the right amount of grease, salt and vinegar. Delicious. Good choice of fish, sometimes the batter is a touch too greasy for my liking. Friendly service and a good atmosphere amongst the locals. This is an old school chippy that serves good grub to loyal punters.

This is one of the best fish and chips I have found in London to date. Believe me; I’m not one of those people who frequently spouts, ‘This is the best [insert food stuff here] in London!’ No, I am not one for hyperbole. You can trust me. Really. I am trustworthy. Ask my mom. (Also, the sign outside changes colour. Red, blue, green, pink, purple, yellow, orange. It’s amazing.)

This is a great wee Fish n Chips place on Garratt Lane. It’s also right next to a cool Kebab place and a Firezza but if you just fancy some traditional, home made fish and chips — no frills — then do come here! The danger with many of these places is that they end up being a little oily. Oily, Collins Fish Bar, is not! The fish and chips are nice and fresh. You can sit in or get a take away, I prefer to get a take away as it’s a little small to sit in. If you’re on Garratt Lane and fancy a good old fashioned fish n chips, come visit this place, it rocks!
