ColourNation

I’m an American working in London and was hesitant to spend the extra money to get my blonde highlights done while here. After an attempt to save money with an at-​home box dye, I found myself at the mercy of Colour Nation. I used the 20% off deal advertised on their homepage and booked myself in with Salma, a stylist. Salma spent the entire afternoon highlighting my hair with the dedication of a true artist. I have never, in all of my international travels, had someone take so much time with my highlights. She even washed out the bleach in three different cycles to ensure an even colouring. I was so impressed with the service, I will likely stop back in on my way home to the States to get it freshened up before Christmas. It’s worth the little bit extra for this kind of service.

The team at ColourNation (it goes against every American fiber of my being to put that U in «colour») took such great care of me, I don’t even know where to begin! It started even during the booking the appointment phase, with Andrew working with me and my manic work schedule to get me in at a workable time. The moment you walk in, someone will be there to greet you. Even if the person manning the desk is occupied with the phone, someone will be there! I saw this throughout my visit. «Coffee? Tea? Water?» Everyone is super ready to take excellent care of you.
Enter Grant, a marvel and a wonder. I walked in with a tired bob, slightly fried from straightening efforts, and old highlights that were too light, and too red, and washed me out, and I was never happy with. Within the next hour, I was aliened-​out. Covered in foils with multiple colors. Then, Grant took the extra care to go in between every little foil and cover the remaining awful red bits sticking out. I’ve seriously never seen such fantastic effort.
Step two: dramatic change. Go from previously mentioned tired bob to completely different pixie-​ish cut a la Michelle Williams (picture in tow). You know that feeling you get when you don’t know if you’re doing something completely stupid but you decide to do it anyway? Nervousness but excitement, I think? Grant put my mind at ease and worked some amazing magic with my hair. It’s thin, so I know that’s not easy to work with, but my hair looks twice as full now and totally adorable. And once my hair was dry, it was easy to see that he had taken those bad highlights and brought me back to my natural color with some lighter chocolate brown thrown in. It looks great. Seriously.
The location is fantastic too! I think the only thing that could make it better is to not have to battle the hoards coming out of Oxford Circus tube station, but it’s seriously so easy to get to. Just a short walk from the tube. And the facilities are bright and clean. Oh, and they have, get this, massaging hair wash station chairs. A massage for your back while your scalp gets massaged? Bliss.
I could rave for days, but I can definitely say that I will be back and had a wonderful experience with ColourNation!

This place is amazing, it feels like home I had an issue with them as there was a misunderstanding with my hair when they dyed it but they ended up calling me and giving me an appointment with a senior stylist. It was quite professional and so kind that they cared that much. Brad was amazing and he ended up giving me just the colour I wanted! he’s an artist!

Super great haircut, wonderful customer service (pretty much everyone in the house asked me if I wanted tea or coffee). I had one of the grad stylists who was wonderful and did a perfect job cutting my hair. Had a scalp massage, nice massaging chairs during shampoo. Double check their website before you go, but when I went they had a 50% off for first customers so yay!

I really like coming here and was spoilt rotten the last time I went. My hairdresser Mia is really lovely and although it was ages since I last went to the hairdressers I don’t know why because I enjoyed the experience.
The hairdressers in general were friendly and with good hair which is a good advertisement in itself.

Had a great experience over there. Was died red before coming to this place and obviously wanted to chenge myself back to blond. Val dod a good job, I’m blonde again! I was bleached first and then coloured, but I don’t feel any damage for the hair to be done. The colour is very close to my natural. Expensive though but worth it!

Though this traumatic incident was quite a long time ago it’s a hairdressing event I’ll never forget.
After a combination of daytime booze and hair bleach I thought it would be a really good idea to try and get some of my hair peroxide blonde. I have VERY dark hair so what followed was lots of weird smells and my hair turning into this bright orange straw like nightmare.
Cue lots of squealing and holding back of tears. So I decided to book an appointment here as they’re lauded as the best colourists in London, using more natural products and going easier on the ammonia to get gentler but just as effective colour.
They took a booking at short notice and didn’t bitch once when I turned up the good part of half an hour late. Three hours later and the extremely calm colourist had not only stopped my hair from falling out but transformed me from an orangutan to a socially acceptable hair owner.
So for that reason I’m forever grateful.
