Small room for shows… probably only about 40 seats total? Our crowd was half full. Comedians didn’t have much material planned. They mostly just harrassed random members of the scattered audience in a desperate attempt for laughs. This wasn’t amusing and neither were the 2 jokes they came prepared with. Is this how british humor wants to be represented? Left early… would never go back… even on a «good» night.

One of the best comedy clubs in London. Consistently funny comedians and a fun atmosphere. I’m a comic so I’m less concerned with the food than live comedy. Haven’t tried the food yet. The comedy? I’ve had a blast every time I’ve gone

I went for the first time to suss out the crowd for the Wednesday night open mic show as I’ve got a gig coming up the following month. It’s a little confusing because you find Comedy Café but you enter through the bedroom bar. If you’re planning to eat, get there a little early and order at the ground floor bar. You can bring the food up but will need to pick it up downstairs. The spicy chicken sandwich was actually pretty good. No wonder it’s so difficult to book in for a spot here — the place is really nice! Now I’ve done a handful of gigs around London in basements and 1st floors of pubs and this has the nicest and spacious space. The acts are varied but usually ends with a good penultimate and heading lining act which should be more experienced testing out new material. Can’t complain too much because the show is free! But I highly recommend booking on the website in advanced because it does sell out.

An excellent cosy venue with a pleasant atmosphere situated in the midst of shoreditch. I had a wonderful evening watching 3 excellent comedians and the entertaining compere Cole Parker. The bar is not too expensive and after the show kareoke with a live band. A great laugh!

A decent little club in East London that whilst pretty good, certainly better than most places that ‘do comedy nights, is some way behind the Comedy Store in London’s West End. A better food offer than the Comedy Store and drinks prices that are much more favourable are tempered by the fact that the quality of the comedians can be a little hit ‘n’ miss. Well worth a visit though.

On a good night, this club is hilarious, as long as you don’t order food. On a bad night, it is pretty depressing. I have been here three times, and had two good nights, and one quite bad one. It all depends on the comedians.

Came to the Comedy Café for the first time last year for the 20 year celebration gig with Ed Byrne as the headline act. Had a great time eating pretty good food. Didn’t partake of the celebrations that continued upstairs but I’m reliably informed they were great too.

Good place for a good laugh. Although I can only say a few words about the free Wednesdays, when the emerging comedians try out their material. The audience is the judge and pick up the winner, who then is invited following week to show a little bit more. The level of funniness between the performers may differ vastly, but then on some other nights all of them are pretty good, so you never know, what you gonna get. The problem is you have to come at least 1 hour before the show starts and you have to buy at least 3 drinks per head. Recently they’ve changed the policy and when you book table, you have to give them the exact number of your guest. They will charge you £5 for anyone that doesn’t turn up. They serve the typical pub food, chips and burgers and the choice isn’t great, but the portions are decent. I have to agree with BlackDahlia, the nachos portions are gigantic and verrry cheesy: P I’ve encountered a problem with their tap beer though. I had to change my pints(on 2 occasion, 2 different beers) as they tasted awfully, as if they were weren’t very fresh or something. If I can give you a tip: don’t sit by the tables nearest to the stage as you’d be picked on and every single comedian will be making fun of you throughout the night:)

This place is a good little find tucked away on Rivington Street. The staff were excellent — very pleasant and good service— the food and drinks are decently priced and the portions were enormous! Personally I quite liked the fat chips. Be forewarned, the nachos starter is easily big enough to share amongst 3 people! I like the small size of the venue; it is cozy without being cramped. The only reason I did not confer 4 stars here was the Comedy itself — we must have gone on an off night as none of the comedians were that funny. Such is showbiz… it’s likely best to do a bit of research on that night’s talent before going.

This place deserves four stars simply for serving strawberry and lime cider! But, for the sake of fairness, i shall review the place as a comedy club in its entirety. The club is fairly sized, big enough to hold around 50+ plus people, but small enough to feel close to the comedian. I recommend popping down on a Wednesday as the show is free, but you still have to book online. Staff are lovely, and efficient. I have knocked a star off because the chips were far too thick to be called chips. What can i say, i just love my chips!

A pesar de que cuenta con buenos comicos, algunos clientes salen decepcionados. Los lunes actua el publico

Walking into the comedy café feels like walking into the 60’s and 70’s. Bright orange paint work with psychedelic spirals and pop art styles writing all over the walls. The stage is very small thus making the comedian part of the crowd. Tables are packed in, many filled with big groups, either for work functions or birthday parties. I was a little disappointed with the comedian acts. We went on a Thursday night which is supposed to be four top comedians. It is free to go on a Wednesday and watch aspiring comedians whereas Thursday to Saturday you pay. Two out of the four were brilliant. However the other two were not that funny at all, rather embarrassing to watch! If you like big American styled meals and food then you will enjoy. I am not a huge fan and felt it was a bit greasy and overwhelming. However the group I was with, especially the men thought it was the perfect meal for a night of many beers! Do go along, I always feel comedy should only be watched when in a good mood otherwise you just won’t enjoy!

I’m not too sure how well this place ranks in London’s big comedy scene but in my book, it’s alright. Most nights there are a mixture of established acts and newer talent and all seem to get quite an easy ride from a generally up for it and encouraging crowd. On Wednesday’s they do an open mic night which is aimed at new comedians on the scene. Last time I went to this the first act was a totally mess — I think he was on crack, I’m sure if he wasn’t he would have been a very funny guy but sadly the drugs got in the way. Things did improve as the night went on however and by the end of the evening we got to see a few genuinely funny and original bits from performers doing one of the world’s hardest jobs. They quite like you to have food here and often demand that you do so depending on the size of the party. It’s not great but hopefully the distractions aren’t sufficient for it to matter too much. Book ahead, drink up and let you senses of hearing and sight dominate your sense of taste.

I beg to differ in regards to this place. As an aspiring comic, I wanted to check out this place to see if I wanted to do the open mic here. I found it easy to get a seat although other people smashed into our booth. The girlfriend ordered nachos which were enormous and looked really cheesy. I found some of the acts to be funny(I like really taboo, sick jokes) and others not so, It was a good experience and a mixed crowd. Completely different experience.

I should have known better, it was written all over the façade this place is a joke, a bad joke. We went there on a Friday night, made the reservations, and where told we would be given a table for the show, but also where advised that we had to order dinner. I love dinning out, but when there is a good menu; the stuff this guy’s offer is a joke: nachos, potatoes wedges!!! I’m beyond having a plate full of nonsense for dinner. The act was not funny; the place is decorated like Bozo the Clown sneezed a bad cold in it. Over all, I guess you can apply the saying; «there is a place for everyone» this is not mine.
