Working with tasty vegan banana and choc cake as company, I had a refreshing surprising discovering this café run by a French lady!

Brilliantly bon vivant. Its cute grey façade with ‘Cul-De-Sac’ in a flirty font is what drew me to the edge of the street and as it happens I had not entered a small road where one has to make a U turn. Au contraire, it was indeed a comfortable place I could reverse park my shivering derrière on a vintage formed seat. Yes, Miss-Matched cutesy chipped crockery and Vintage furniture has reached SE27 boys and girls. I called on a coffee date. We discussed French Cinema and Art all whilst around me a number of regulars dropped by; with shopping, with work on cliquety laptops, reading French books with French babies all speaking all en Français. It seemed to epitomise the delightful hub of a bustling Parisian community’s coffee shop with happy busy French chatter around us. We, brimming with banter saw almost an hour pass when my Francophone friend announced she didn’t even realise we were in a French café as she felt as at home as did I. In West Norwood. Using my superior grasp of my shit-school French(that I’d also recently used in the ‘Deess Huweet Arondisamont) I even tried my best Mer-see-boo-kay for my £2 café sans lait. To continue my continental experience I listened to Camera Obscura’s French Navy and L’Temps de L’mour by Francoise Hardy on the way home.
