I love those little cafes where you can go have a sandwich and also all day breakfast. As someone who does not eat in the morning, being able to get some scrambled eggs and salmon after 1pm makes me very happy. I found this café because one of my colleagues lives nearby it and so I was in the area. It came with his highest recommendations as the best place for lunch around there and I have to say I’m quite sad I don’t live there myself because I would love to be able to go there on a regular basis. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff were very friendly and sweet. Definitely try the eggs and the sandwiches! If you’re in the area you should check it out!

This is a lovely little spot in the heart of east finchley — just opposite the tube station and does delicious coffees and cakes! A really friendly atmosphere and really nice, big, and light absolutely perfect for a sunday morning coffee! or saturday afternoon coffeee… or anytime coffee!

One of my favourite café places in London, with a hint of Italian cuisine

The name cracks me up — hello, IP team for D&D? Decent service and very reasonable prices, but the coffee is second rate. Lacks flavour of gourmet coffees and charm of Mayfair, Clerkenwell– and City-based venues, but given lack of choices in the area it’s not bad(hence the extra bump up from 2 stars).

Really nice Italian café almost directly across from East Finchley Tube station. Friendly service, clean in pastel shades and nice quality solid wood tables(a huge one by the window accommodates 2 whole families). They serve hot meals(aubergine parmigiana, lasagna etc), toasted sandwiches, pastries, cupcakes and rich italian coffee as well as nicely made and presented mugs of tea. It’s all nice and fresh and appertising. Current edition newspapers are left around to keep you occupied if tire of looking out the window at the East Finchleyites going about their business. Children are welcome and there is room for a couple of buggies during quiet periods. They serve babyccinos for the children and you can order toast or small portions from the deli counter for them if you’re staying for lunch. There are tables around back if you need a bit more privacy. Toilets are clean. The café is fairly new but it is apparently fast becoming a favourite amongst the locals and Tube travellers. Recommended.

Recently fun-employed(I *will* have fun while jobless) I decided to go back to my roots: searching for my neighbourhood’s best cup of joe. Going out for coffee is one of my favourite things to do and since moving to London six months ago I rarely do it. So I am determined to find the best local place for me to enjoy a cup, write and people-watch. D&D *might* be THEONE. D&D offers great coffee, various sandwiches and hot food. The atmosphere is busy, with people chatting or reading the morning newspaper. The only drawback is that they don’t have wi-fi.
