I first went to David Clulow two years ago after running out contact lenses that were prescribed for me in the States. I ran the gauntlet of Upper Street opticians and went with David Clulow because they were running a deal and were the cheapest at the time. Contact lenses were sent to me every three months in the post with free solution. Plus, I got a spare pair of glasses free when I purchased another pair. Options for the free pare were limited and the model I chose has rhinestones on the sides, but they’re great for leaving at my grandmother’s house so I have one less thing to pack when I visit. Things were peachy so, when I ran out of contacts again, I went back. Recently, I realized that months had passed and nothing had come in the post. I was on my very last pair of lenses, so I went up to the store and was told that my payment, which had been taken about three months ago, never went through. That would have been a nice thing for someone to call and tell me. Especially because I noticed that it didn’t go through because the Islington branch waited too long to send my details to the contact lens provider, Sauflon.(Yeah, I’m confused too…) I gave my credit card details again. Fast forward two weeks. Still no lenses. I call and someone looks into it. In the meantime, I receive a letter from Sauflon telling me that they received my registration form and 23.33 will be debited from my account each month. Someone from David Clulow just called me saying that they had to take my payment details again. I have to pay for the first three months at the beginning. They’ll make sure Sauflon won’t start debiting until three months out, which is contrary to what their letter to me says. Do I think my account will be debited by Sauflon next month? Yes. Do I think I’ll have to call David Clulow again? Yes. Do I feel confident that I will have new lenses in a couple days as promised? No. Will I go back to David Clulow in the future? Definitely not.
