We had a Classic Afternnon Tea for two here on Sunday January 4th, 2015. To say we were appalled is an understatement. 1.To begin with we requested no salmon sandwiches. This was graciously agreed to but when we asked them to substitute with ham, the waiter almost growled at us that such an establishment obviously doesn’t cater pork products. Obviously? I thought this was Britain, where pork is standard fare. 2. The sandwiches were dry and stale. Clearly not made that day. 3. The scones were also stale and had been reheated until they were the texture of a crunchy biscuit. 4. When we eventually got a waitress to stop, she openly agreed that the food wasn’t fresh that day but that they tried their best by putting the scones in a warmer. 5. On paying the bill, a more senior waitress told us we were too late in complaining, despite the fact that we were unable to eat 80% of the food. All up, a very bad experience and £32 down the drain.

Atmosphere is nice, a bit annoying cuz it’s under the escalators and noisy. The food is average, service is nice except when the waiter is not your waiter. So to get a smiley face you’d have to wait for your waitress to notice you since she’s busy waiting other tables. Deserts look good, but the tiramisu was okay.

Not exactly the quality of afternoon tea at the Ritz where u get a free flow of food and tea fir 2 hours… but for the price we paid for a afternoon tea set for 2(the upgraded set for about 41GBP) we thought it was pretty good. The scones and eclairs were excellent but finger sandwiches average. Tea was decent and worth a try particularly if u need a half time break from shopping at Selfridges.
