I was going to eastside whenever I wanted to hang out with my mates or watch football. The quality of food is just ok but good in comparison to the price. But if I was usually having food somewhere else and coming here for drinks They dont do cocktails which is a shame but they sell drink very it is good while you are studeny and wanna hang out around the campus

Eastside is a typical student bar with cheap drinks and(mostly) bad food. I say cheap drinks because the beers are £2.50(Beck’s) and the food(mostly burgers or something deep fried) is cheap and often what you find yourself eating after drinking a few cheap beers. The inside is a bit sterile, although you’ll find a couple TVs on that liven the place up if there’s a big match on. Other than that there really isn’t much to write about for Eastside. If you’re a student you’ll probably love it because the beers are much cheaper than anywhere else in South Kensington(other than the other student bars of course!), but if you’re looking for a pub with character or something other than a greasy dinner you’re better off looking elsewhere.

Ahh, Eastside. My memories(some rather blurred) of you are always on the sweet side. As would be the case for pub or bar frequented regularly by the same group of people. My husband and his colleagues have hung out at Eastside Bar for everything from after work drinks, going away dos and quick lunches for years. Since I came into his life, I have also been a visitor of Eastside, meeting up there for a relaxed few drinks, some snacks and a good laugh. Eastside is always packed by students or staff of Imperial College. That is a given. If you’re looking for a romantic, quaint little bar — go elsewhere. Come here if you want cheap drinks, a good selection of things to eat(sharing platters are nice, go for the one with the hummus… mmmm!), somewhat spotty but still appreciated service and a very chilled out atmosphere. If you’re a vegetarian, you will be in luck with a few light bites but healthy options are not always easy to spot here. This is a beer and nachos type of establishment, my friends. Do not expect your cocktails to be mixed effortlessly and with finesse. Go here with an open mind and with lower expectations, all while still appreciating the charm of the place. I often start with a rather disappointing vodka soda(my own fault, as I never learn my lesson here) but continue the night on with a few beers. Expect Eastside to be packed on a Friday night but there’s plenty of standing room and cozy where you can rest your weary head after a rough day or annoyingly long week. Because this is a bar I find myself in quite often, I might be partial in my rating but that can’t be helped — I see this place with rose tinted glasses on. If you’re in the area and want a quick, cheap drink, stop by.

A beer and burger for £9? or something like that. That’s still pretty expensive for being slap bang in the middle of student digs. Nioooce student digs, but students nonetheless. Actually revisited my postgrad uni, with my baby brother, because he’s thinking of applying, and decided to take him for a nicer lunch than the library café, which is a bit rubbish really.(However, the almond slices AREAMAZING.) So my friend and I opted to take him to eastside, to see student halls on the other side of exhibition road. Portions are massive, but I only really picked at mine, I got a veggie foccacia, and the bread was maaaaassive, but there wasn’t much vegetables or sauce, so it was REALLYDRY. The chips were nice. I guess, they can’t use too much vegetables, it might upset a students diet… pps:So I didn’t allow my 17 yo brother to have a burger and a beer, for lunch. He then went on a house party bender the following day.

Is it a pub, is it a bar, is it a restaurant? No, it’s…tryingtobeallthreebutfailing. Eastside is a weird place. Being a postgrad at Imperial, we quite often go after college for a few pints — the drinks are reasonably cheap and the choice very standard; plus they do pitchers. However, if you walk in, you’ll see what I mean with the whole identity crisis thing — the lighting is low, and there is standard colourful floor-level lighting. The music(a bizarre mix of late 90s/early 00s classics) is pretty loud which makes conversation and dining there a bit difficult. On top of that, the food is not great, although I guess it’s cheap. However, none of this surprises me seeing as all of Imperial’s eateries/drinkeries are somewhat lacking in atmosphere. Ultimately, it should just decide what the hell it wants to be. Pub from 4 – 9, then bar afterwards, fine. But the experience of eating in a bar-like experience is just a bit weird.

Cheap drinks in Central London alert! A friend of mine who very recently left her marketing job at Imperial College had some leaving drinks here at Eastside Bar, just off Exhibition Road. Before arriving I was worried that we’d be in some dive student bar akin to scenes from Hollyoaks, pinching our noses and tutting everytime we heard another student cliché… but I was wrong! Mostly. Firstly, it’s very modern in here and the décor is impressive. Nothing special, a big open area with lots of tables and some comfy couches. Big screens on the wall too. Lots of clean finishes and the bar area looks cool too, with its changing colours. The best bit? The prices. It’s so cheap. A pint of magners set me back £2.20 and a cursory glance at the long, studenty, food menu suggested that you could get what looked to be a decent steak for about £6. Happy days. The location isn’t necessarily ideal for a night out in London’s hotspots and is certainly out the way for me in Clapham, but if in the area, this is where i’ll be coming. Perfect for before and after drinks when going to the Royal Albert Hall… And yes, there were a lot of students in there moaning about overdrafts and essays but there was an interesting mix too. Professors, staff and randoms. They dont ask for any Imperial College ID, you can just walk right in. Off the main road and hidden, this a secret that should be spread.
