Eight Club Bank — this place used to be the bomb but now it’s looking tired, grubby and the crowd is average at best. Five years ago, I was impressed with the dark, sexy décor and the quality of the service but, having visited it again recently, I felt let down. The carpet as you walk down the stairs needs replacing, the sticky bar needed a good clean(!) but worst of all, there are grubby pool tables that let this place down. It feels like you’re in Wetherspoons… it is possible to provide pool tables that still look classy. Bounce in Holborn is packed with table tennis tables but it maintains an edge of class. The floor and sofas at Eight look really cheap and nasty. The one thing I will say is that the martinis are as good as ever, no complaints there. And I met some fun people, but I suspect money has gone into the Moorgate club while this one has been left to rot. Also, I’m not a member at Eight but managed to blag my way in… that tells you all you need to know!

On paper this place should have it all Very underground, check Discreet entrance, check Pool tables, check Cinema, check Mobile reception, check Members only, check Beautifully stocked bar, check Great designer furniture, check Waiter service, check I’ve read that this is the ‘place to be’, and that this is the ‘sexiest’ of members clubs but I really didn’t get that impression. The main room was hot and uncomfortable; the atmosphere very corporate and predictably full of bankers; lacking the usual variety you might get in other places. I’m sure it’s a wonderful place to bring clients or somewhere quieter to relax after a hard days banking. Indeed as it is right next to the ‘dead at weekends’ Bank I think that its sole purpose and I’m sure it does it very well. Sure, it’s exclusive but maybe it’s just that I don’t know the advantages of joining. To me it just seemed like someone made a list of things a ‘sexy’ members club should be and stuck to it.

Was not aware of this place till early this year, its quite discrete and full of attitude which is exactly what you look for when going to a place of this calibre. Elegance, classiness and loads of style in every single room, lovely food and a really nice, airy bar area. This place should have gotten 5 stars for the sole reason that it is really that good, but for their extremely slow service(which did get better and better towards the end, I admit). Overall if you have the money to join in, please do and make sure you bring me along every couple of weeks :)

Quite possibly the sexiest members club in London, the Eight club is the ‘it’ place for anything high class. Situated in Bank, tucked away down a little alley, and two floors below ground, this place has it all. The main floor is designed to be like a smart lounge room, leading onto a fantastically stocked bar. You have three full sized pool tables and a cinema. There are numerous private rooms, poker rooms and a specialised dining room with a full menu. The service can be hit and miss and it is not cheap. The bartenders can also be notoriously slow. Due to its location and exclusivity, the members tend to be at the higher end of the pay scale and city based. It is the perfect place for business meetings if you want to impress. If you can get signed in you may fall in love with Eight.

Hidden behind Abacus, eight members club is a haven in the city. A few floors down, the interior is dark, masculine and stunning, with a library, pool tables, well stocked bar, meeting rooms, f1 simulator, private cinema, and more. The crowd is(invariably) city, but this is high end venue, so you can be sure of eclectic intellectual and interesting. The club is great to escape from days in the city, along with meeting friends, colleagues or even having larger meetings. They also do regular networking and other events for members. This place is very strictly members only, and expect the usual london members club regulations. If you are in the city, a must join.
