Evin Cafe

Evin Café on Kingsland High Road is a good spot for those living locally visiting the market or small shopping centre. There are a couple of med type places up and down the street, but this duals good solid breakfast offerings as well as the more traditional style Turkish/​Med fare.
The ground floor café has a small outside terrace, but as it’s on the main high street it can be noisy with a bit of pollution. Also, it is the smoking area. It’s best to sit inside for comfort.
We arrived for lunch, but the breakfast menu was still available so Ema had the interesting breakfast mix of scrambled eggs, grilled halloumi, grilled sliced sausages, olives and salad. Ema was happy with this and she enjoyed it. I had the cheesy garlic grilled mushrooms for starter. The mushrooms were a little on the raw side and there could have been a bit more garlic.
For my main course I had the charcoal lamb chops with mixed veg and rice. The lamb is an acquired taste, as it’s a bit on the well done side. If you like your meat tough, this works, but for me, it could have been a little bit more pink and tender on the inside. The menu in general is full of good Turkish options such as kofte, houmous, falafel etc. I have tried other things on the menu on previous visits which have tasted much better, so I would still recommend this as a place to go.
The staff are friendly and the little lady making the homemade Turkish pizza quietly works her magic in full view of diners. If you come in for dinner, there is apparently a bar downstairs for drinks.

5 stars for the best falafels and hummous I’ve ever had. Yea — no seriously.
Their veggie mezze plate for two was perfectly sized for dinner, and the crack sticks… um… I mean cheese sticks that came with the dish were addictive. Cheese and herbs in a phyllo wrapped cigar shaped stick of heaven is the only way for me to describe it. Yum.

I haven’t been in the café but I went one night in the bar and I can only highly recommend it! It’s perfect for private events and parties. It’s not too big and not too loud. I spent one of my most funniest nights there and I’m planning to go again with my friends. I would also go to the café someday. It looked pretty nice and I’m sure it it!

Yum. I bring all non-​Dalston-​ers to this place on their first visit. It really is yummy!

I think Dalston is amazing for food. There’s nothing flashy, I doubt there’s too much organic, fairtrade or rare breed, but if when it comes to multiculturalism few places can beat it. You can eat food from so many different countries and it’s nearly always cheap.
One little gem is Evin Café, not too far up from Dalston Kingsland train station. Every Saturday and Sunday morning two ladies sit in the front window preparing the most Gözlemedelectable filled flatbreads called gözleme. One lady fills and stuffs and the other cooks them on a domed griddled, which Google has just told me is called a sac.
There’s two filling choices, a slightly spiced and minty mashed potato and a quite fiery spinach. Both a delight, the bread itself getting towards wood fired pizza in its taste, charred in spots and soft in texture. All this for £1.50 each. If you ever pass by I recommend you pop in and get one.
The evening food is also very nice too (although not my favourite in the area), serving up the usual grilled meats and breads along with a wide selection of starters and other mains.

This place is my favourite turkish restaurant, I’ve been living in Hackney for 4 years so there are plenty to choose from!
The halloumi is gorgeous, and their simple red lentil soup, that is £1.50 a bowl is great. The staff are attentive and there are always plenty of them.
I can’t fault this place.

Evin Café is a solid place with friendly staff that serves up tasty Turkish food. I like to start with the cacik and a cheese gozleme. I find the cheese version to be spicy and flavourful — certainly among the best I’ve had here in London. The spinach variety won’t drag you out of bed in the morning, but it is fresh and hot and very comforting.
I find their lamb dishes tasty. You can’t go wrong with the minced lamb kebab which is nicely spicy™. Their fresh squeezed OJ is also a treat if you’re there in the morning.
The courteous staff hasn’t yet run me off after I’ve posted up in the back (next to the power outlets of course) for hours on end. That peace alone is worth the price. I need to surf the internet free from interruption.

borek. gozleme. turkish flatbread. whatever the name of this delicious stuffed crêpe/​quesadilla/​savory pancake item, it is absolutely delicious. as the other reviewers mention, a lady sits in the window of evin café and makes these tasty toaster-​oven sized half moons of of brilliance.
like other local purveyors, they have spinach, cheese, and potato. if you want to get even more awesome, i particularly like the spinach and cheese rolled together. BLAOW!
they also have a really good selection of vegetarian meze (turkish appetizers like hummus, cacik (yogurt dip), sauteed eggplant and more) with delicious homemade foccacia-​like bread for dipping. they will offer to replenish this bread if you like. big points for that. i also had good halloumi and a pretty decent minced lamb dish.
evin café is located amongst a whole minefield of turkish restaurants along kingsland road. why, you might ask, have i been to evin café six times in the past week? they also have free wi-​fi, power outlets, a lot of seating, and waiters who let you sit and order multiple cups of tea.
i’d be there anyway for the internet access, but the abundant gozleme makes it an excellent place to kill (a lot of) time.

This is a great Turkish Café great Turkish tea and breakfast or lunch, This one and Z Bar further towards Stoke Newington are the best of the bunch around this area.

Evin Café is a great place to relax. This is partly due to the décor and furniture arrangement and free wireless, but also due to the relaxed (some might say a bit too releaxed) manner of service, which generally errs on the side of laid-​back.
The coffee is very good. So is the food. The Turkish flatbread (rolled in the mornings by two decorative — but hardworking — ladies who sit in the front window) comes in various varieties.
You can get a decent English breakfast. But what’s the point of coming to a Turkish café and having an fry-​up? Better to opt for one of the several more exotic breakfasts, which often involve honey, cheese and potatoes.

Opposite my old flat on Kingsland High Street, this charming café has been the scene of many a hungover breakfast and a refuge for the countless occasions on which I lost my house keys. They have wireless Internet, good coffee and a huge menu with a mixture of Turkish and English treats.
The service here is quite variable ranging from bored to happy to forgetful but apologetic. It’s one of those places where it doesn’t really matter because in general staff are friendly and if they seem a bit vague, its probably because they too are watching the bizarre bustling of Dalston’s high street through the huge front windows.
The best time to come here is in the morning when two women sit at the front in the window of the café rolling Turkish flat breads and the smell of delicious baked goods fills the air. The food is good, not great but for around a fiver you can get a full English breakfast, fresh orange juice and a generally very pleasant experience.

It’s one of the most sympathic places in the area.
You can go anytime of the day, the staff is always happy to
receive you and you can use WI-​FI for free.
Every morning, in the window, you can see the cook preparing fresh food. Breakfast are until 17H. I love their toast with cheese and beans and their hot chocolate is yummy and it’s really cheap.
You’ve got traditional turkish food and music too. At night you can come with all your friends as they have a big room downstairs for parties or whatever.
If you want to spend less for tasty food, you’ll be pleased.
