This place is disgusting. I have a multi-pass to the Fitness First gyms, and it’s so unfortunate that this is the one I live closest to. The changing rooms always stink and many of the locker doors are broken or don’t lock properly. There are never any trainers around the gym floor, so you have no one to ask advice from. At least a third of the machines are always broken, and they seem to take weeks to get them repaired. A lot of the equipment is dirty and damaged. It’s just gross.

So after having frequented many a gym, some private some chains. I have found there are 3 important factors in choosing a gym: 1. Proximity to home 2. Cleanliness 3. Equipment Fitness first has all three things, granted it isn’t a huge gym, and may not be totally up to date but it features a good quantity of the key pieces of equipment but I haven’t ever had to wait to use the machine of my choice. Initially I joined Brockwell park gym due to their new fit out… but this came with its down sides with it being total packed at most times of day. By the time I have managed to coerce myself into going to the gym, the last thing I want when I get there is not being able to use the equipment I want to. Included in the fitness first membership there is group classes, access to the gym, free weights, sauna and showers. Never accept their first offers when signing up for a membership, they can offer you all sorts of discounts or waiver the joining fee etc if you do a little bargaining.
