Great steak for £10 with salad and a side of chips. It’s cheap but the quality of your meal goes beyond the price tag. Don’t bring your vegetarian friends here as they have little to no veggie options, but other than that, full marks for a affordable and tasty meal.

So I went to Flat Iron after hearing many many people go on about it. So one evening both myself and the better half decided to give it a go. The result– He was impressed and had already started planning our next meal there. I on the other hand was a little disappointed and concluded that apart from it being one of the cheapest steak places i had been too i did not see what the hype was all about. Lets break it down shall we– Positives: Great Value for money I don’t think its possible to get a steak for that value which you are paying here. The menu is simple and to the point the most complex choice you will have to make is what sides that’s about it. The staff are efficient, helpful and friendly. Negatives: The wait before you even enter the establishment. The quality of the food could have been better I left feeling like i was missing something. The deco was confusing and the seating arrnagements was not compfrtable. I felt like i was intruding on the people sitting next to me.

The wait was long and the steak was small and of below average quality. It was not worth the money or time. I am suprized at all the good reviews. Either most of the individuals have a poor taste in food or they are paid to write them.

Fairly good food to be honest. Perhaps it would be good to have a bit more choice but certainly the menu choices are very tasty and I think it’s definitely a good option for lunch or dinner i you are in Soho!

As far as I’m concerned Flat Iron does the best steak in London! I’ve probably been 4 or 5 times and every time the service is second to none. I always opt for the £10 steak, creamed spinach and chips. You could say I’m predictable but when you find a combo that is so good, you just have to stick with it! I like my steak rare and Flat Iron cook it to perfection. The meat cleaver shaped knife adds to the experience as does the overall style of the restaurant. I’ve been to two of the locations and from experience have found the Covent Garden location has more space so is easier to get a table. That being said as you can’t book, I always say to my friends that whoever gets there first has to put our names down for a table. It seems to work quite well and there are loads of places to grab a drink in Covent Garden or you can grab a drink at the bar. My only tiny criticism is that a couple of times at the end of our meal we’ve been given mini meat cleaver tokens for ice cream but alas its not gluten-free. However, the Flat Iron team always let me keep the mini cleaver that I fashioned into earrings for a fancy dress party. Seriously this place won’t disappoint!

Oh I love Flat Iron. I’ve been twice now and I really try not to go to the same restaurant too many times. The steak is perfect(medium rare) and in my opinion, no extra sauce is needed. The side dishes are good too — chips(amazing), creamed spinach(yummy), aubergine dish(mmmmmm)!! The wine selection is good too! My only criticism is that you have to wait, sometimes for 2 hours, for a table and they don’t have a bar you can sit at, so you have to find a nearby bar/pub.

Like most people, I went to Flat Iron based on word of mouth and what my friends had said. £10 a steak was too good to miss. The wait for a table was not too bad, as you can drink in a nearby bar and they text you when a table is ready. Not so good when you give them the wrong number though, as I did, and had to go back to ask them to change it. The venue is small, so we shared a table with 2 others. It was a bit intimate, and we could hear their conversation, but it made the whole experience a bit more sociable. It did feel, however, that you were on a production line — queue up, get seated, order, pay and go. The members of staff were very nice but were keen to get you served — and possibly out the door and free up a table — quickly. The food was good, and the popcorn as a appetiser was a great idea. The steak itself — the big star of the show — was a somewhat small portion, although expected for only £10. It tasted amazing, but was served on a wooden slab with a mini meat cleaver which felt a bit gimmicky. The portion of salad was a nice touch but hardly worth the bother. A nice place to try out but I would probably seek out another steak restaurant next time.

Great stake place, the flat iron in my experience is really good and works better price vs size that the Rib eye and the burguer, the sides are good . Only big downside is you have really long waiting list . And you get an amaizing free icecream when you leave!

The food was great! It was worth waiting. But the protein was a bit bland and the blood was a bit more towards rare when mid-rare was ordered. The protein was very tender for sure. The taste of salads was very well balanced. The steak was served a bit like to someone who is on diet… A bit disappointed…

If you’re in the area and fancy a steak(when do you not fancy a steak?) then you have to come here. They operate a no reservations policy, but in a good way. Here’s what you do: 1. Decide you want steak(if you haven’t already) 2. Go to flat iron, tell them«I would like steak please» or something to that effect 3. They will either give you a table, or take your number and call you when it’s free 4. Go to the pub and enjoy a delicious beverage(Red Lion round the corner is cheap and cheerful) 5. Receive their phone call 6. Enjoy a delicious steak They only do one thing really, Flat Iron steak, as well as their special steak of the day. You can also order a variety of sides which are all really good too, though to be honest it’s the steak that stuck in my mind. The atmosphere was relaxed and quite communal. We were sat on a bench between two other couples. It wasn’t the most intimate, but I didn’t go there for intimate. As long as you’re good with that, you’ll be happy. Like I said, pop in here if you’re in the area(and fancy steak).

Just had an amazing meal. Had to come home and nap afterward. The entire staff is super friendly and personable. I was waited on by Carlo(sounds like???). He’s blond, tall, animated and jacked — I tried not to blush when he described the shoulder cut and flexed his tricep. The popcorn is a cute touch. The meat cleaver knife is hysterical. You won’t need it for the steak — but I did chop my watercress salad with it. The steak was done to perfection with a lemon zest sea salt. Course and briny. And the dessert is poured table side. A delicious chocolate sea salt caramel mousse with more sea salt served on the side. Excellent choice of beers, an IPA from Beaverstown and a Saison from Partizan. The Bernaise sauce was off the hook, as was the creamy Aubergine. I was told to come back for the creamed spinach. You can bet I will. Incredibly priced. My whole meal, an 8oz steak, a large side, a gratis watercress balsamic salad, popcorn, two beers, dessert and gratuity was £26… Unreal! Will be back!

How could I give Flat Iron anything less than a solid 5? — £10 quality steak which also tastes amazing — Efficient and friendly staff — Great sides. — Pretty neat waiting system You cannot get this anywhere else in central London — not for the level of quality and price. PS: Free popcorn sharer.

Finally tried Flat Iron as have heard good reviews before but must say I want impressed. Considering there’s only one thing on the menu you would of thought it’ll be amazing? My at be the standard item, we went for the special which saw Cornish Skirt Steak. Cooked only medium rare they said… Well mine was over cooked… The dripping fries felt like it was cooked in old oil taste… And the grilled aubergine was more burnt… But the lighting in the restaurant was dark so I guess you’re not suppose to see it? Can’t say I will be running back soon.

It is actually not as cheap as you may assume. The little piece of meat(I wouldnt call that a steak) eventhoug it’s ok is not enough for a normal person,(maybe for a small children) and the meat does not include anything(but a green three leaves salad) you have to order the sides which are not cheap and also are to small

Ici on respecte l’animal.

Where to start… Ok, so people have been talking about Flat Iron for a fair few months now — «It’s this amazing steak place that does steak for just £10 and it’s really good», «you have to go, it’s so good» — you know, the usual. So Alex and I decided to give it a try before our theatre trip and being a huge steak fan I was rather excited! We arrived and were told the wait was 15 minutes — absolutely fine by us. We were asked to provide our telephone number and they said they’d text us when our table was ready. After 15 minutes(exactly) we were texted and we headed back to claim our table, but wait, it wasn’t our table, it was ours, the couple to our rights and the two friends on our left. That’s right, we were sandwiched between 4 people and when I say sandwiched I mean every move we made we were nudging into someone. It was uncomfortable and kind of tainted the romantic date night I’d had in mind… What I will say however is that their steak is good! We opted for the original steak and also their special Wagu NZ steak. With sides of chips, spinach and market greens. Free popcorn is provided as a tasty treat to start — gotta love popcorn, especially when it’s free! Then the food followed quickly… Both types of steak were cooked beautifully, for me the Wagu steak stood out, it was succulent, with a slight smokiness to it — just really good meat. The original was also really tasty and for £10 you can’t really beat it. The sides were also good — the chips were slightly cold sadly but I what I will say is that the market veg is the bees knees — buttery, crunch, green goodness in the form of cabbage! I also ordered a side of peppercorn sauce which was damn good! Many places struggle with peppercorn but the consistency, and taste was just spot on. Overall it was just a very mixed experience. The food and service(our waitress was lovely — very friendly and helpful) was of a great standard but I just didn’t like the way the restaurant was laid out and I don’t want to be listening to other people’s lives stories of how they’re craving a burger because it’s their time of the month(true fact). I’ve given it a three — it would be 3.5 if I could, I just don’t think it lived up to the hype. Sadly, I’d be in no rush to go back and if I was to go back it would be at 3 in the afternoon on a Monday. Can we have our own table please?

Amazing service although it was a late Saturday night. We sat at the only 4 seats table close to the toilets door but it was ok. I chose the special of the day which was the wagyu burger with an hollandaise truffle sauce. Oh boy! It was SOYUMMY! It is surely entering in my list of top 5 burgers I love the most! Our waitress was great and very friendly. She explained us about these special and that the burger I had might not be available next time I visit the restaurant(sad face) They do have other locations and they would announce on Facebook where to find these specials. I also had the Fred’s sauce which was a spicy tomato dip that was great too with my fries. The unique dessert available is a chocolate mousse and by mousse it is more like a chocolate Whipped cream with salt. It was good and although small in size, it was very filling. Overall, I had a great time and the meal awesome. What else would you ask for in London??

This place has been on my list for ages so New Years Day my dreams came true and we wondered over to this branch for a late lunch. It was Amaaaaazing. We were lucky to be seated within a few minutes as I’ve tried to go before and there has been an hour and a half wait. We both went for one of their bottled beers(£4 each and both good ale) and ordered a steak and their special(steak burger) with chips and creamed spinach. Food came out in a good amount of time. The steak was cooked perfectly and the burger was delish, nice bun(don’t normally like seeded buns but this was great), great sauce, well cooked. Chips were crisp and fluffy — delish — and the creamed spinach was rich and gorgeous. Amazing value for £10 each main and £3 for each side. Service was good — friendly and efficient although she forgot the Mayo(not really needed). The only thing which means it isn’t 5* from me is the seating. They have shared benches with fixed stools with no back. A bit uncomfy and cramped as well as a little awkward when only 2 of you next to a group of 4.

Top top top.

The steak is soooo tender seasoned and cooked to perfection. I have been in London for three days and this steak was the best thing I have had. It is without a doubt one of the best steaks I have ever had. With that being said, now the cons. The steak is served with a cup of greens with some dressing over it, and that is all. If you want«chips» aka french fries with your steak it will cost you an additional £2.50 and sauce flavors cost an additional £1.00. I must say, they do have the BEST chips I have had in London. Another con is the food all came out luke warm. If that baby would have come out piping hot, it would have tasted so much better. Also, a steak that wonderful should have the option to be pared with a baked or «stuffed» potato. Be prepared to wait. My pary and I had to wait an hour and a half to eat. Overall, pretty solid food, respectable atmosphere.

Ok, seriously, Flat Iron, I love you. This was one of the first meals I had when I moved to London years ago, back when it was a pop up in the Owl and Pussycat pub. And it was excellent then. Cheap steak that’s so good with fries that are equally good. And then when it got it’s own spot, I knew it would do well, and it did do well. The only reason to mark it down is the damn queue, which is always epic. No reservations here(nor at the Owl and Pussycat, so it’s a thing they’ve done long before it was trendy) and you will wait. But my god it is worth the wait. So good.

Finally got to try this place, and because I went for lunch I think I got the best service as there was no queue at all(in fact we were seated downstairs –lovely room– and we were the first ones. It was 12pm). The ambience is very nice, your seat is equipped with a tiny meat cleaver(which you don’t really need if you get the classic flat iron, as it comes already sliced) and tap lemony water is served without asking. There is a big board with the specials of the day — which nearly tempted me into trying the Wagyu Picanha(I drool if I as much as think about it). But alas, diet. And also I thought the first time I should really try their famous classic so I went for the flat iron steak. I also ordered a side of fennel & nectarine salad, never thought they could work together but it was so tasty! The steak itself came medium rare, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was actually medium rare! I could see the difference between my friend’s steak which was just medium, and my other friend’s steak that was rare-blue. So kudos to them for knowing their meat. (You’d think that’s a prerogative for steak houses, unfortunately that isn’t always the case…) We shared a bottle of wine and I’ve since been trying to remember the name of it as it was VERY good, and I don’t usually drink red. It was light and tasty. Complimented the meat perfectly. Will definitely be back, hopefully NOT for dinner as I hear the queue can get quite intense(and I can see why!).

Don’t do it!
