To describe this Taiwanese restaurant as a hole in the wall isn’t exactly correct. There is at least a minimal attempt to decorate the restaurant and there are dining options available, albeit cramped. But back in New York, hole-in-walls are usually awesomely authentic, and a place you’d want to share and keep to yourself at the same time, and that’s what this place is. Staff was friendly. Yes, there is a separate Chinese menu. Yes, the restaurant was filling with Chinese eaters as I was leaving. I am not a Taiwanese food expert but have had my share of a variety of Chinese food. We ordered the Three flavored chicken, Morning Glory veggies and Satay Noodles. The prices are excellent, and the food is authentically solid. Restaurant is inconspicuously located near Fulham-Broadway. What would make them perfect is if they would deliver farther up near Kensington for me(they do not). However, I would happily walk the 18 mins here on any sunny day that I need a Chinese food fix. Oh, and they made the best homemade hot pepper oil I’ve had in a very long time.

Although this establishment is unprepossessing on the outside, it much more pleasant on the inside, albeit rather small = only a few covers. The food is excellent and well priced, and the service friendly and good. I’d particularly commend the Mu Shu Pork — a dish one seldom finds in the UK nowadays.

Excellent food, brilliant service, and great value, you simply cannot ask for more. The hostess was incredibly friendly and prompt. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough to people who haven’t been. What a little gem, you simply must try it.

I don’t know whether the previous reviewers actually consumed at the same place but all I can say about this one is that it was nothing special and I have definately eaten at tastier Chinese restaurants. The meals were ok price and don’t get me wrong the food was edible to say the most(yes most not least) but it just lacked flavour and something about it was not quite right. Another thing that got my raitings low before I even ate anything was to do with my starter… sweet and sour sauce is a MUST with spring rolls kinda a necessity is it not?(maybe that is just in my books) I gave the staff one of the two stars because they were ever so nice and friendly and the service was pretty good. I will look a bit further than this restaurant next time.

Good, cheap, fast, friendly efficient! Popped in yesterday before the football, found us a table for three after about 5 minutes wait, we were on a tight deadline and I let them know we had about 45 mins max, all food & drinks came very fast and were good. Been a couple of times before will go back, no hesitation. Not Michelin star but good, honest food!

WoooooWEEE. 4.5STARS, still thinking about the lovely food and regretting not wearing my fat pants tonight. Some traditional Taiwanese owners, milk tea, and flavorful dishes. The tsa jiang noodles were under-seasoned, but that was the only forgettable dish of the evening. Highly recommend the«fish fragrant aubergine» and«ma-po tofu». Starter, 3 mains, rice, and 2 beers = 32 squidz. Holler at something amazing! It was a Chelsea night tonight, and since the restaurant is across the street from the tube station it was overcrowded with some crazy types getting loud and aggressive. But don’t be fooled by the tacky exterior and the unfortunate clientele on such evenings, cuz it’s a LEGIT Taiwanese place. GO.GO.GO.

I have hesitated about writing this review, because I think this place is so good, that I’m reluctant to tell people about it. From the outside, it looks like a food-poisoning certainty, and even as you go in, there is no glitz and glamour to the place, just faded yellow walls and simple torn tablecloths. BUT this is what makes Formosa so special. It is real, authentic Chinese cuisine, Westernised obviously but it really does feel like a noodle shack in Shanghai, and I should know, I lived there. Family-run, exceptionally friendly, and with the best Chinese food I’ve tasted in London, I have no idea why I can ever get a table. Forget the tourist trap of Chinatown, head out to Fulham and get the real deal!
