With much dispute over which restaurant to finally pick for our casual movie night for dinner, I finally decided to give in and let my companion choose. The American ‘vintage’ pop hits and rather heavy ‘old glamour’ restaurant interior with heavy toque dividers and green padded seats was not my to my taste buds. The brass linings and yellow lighting gave it a very mixed feel. The ‘standard’ selection of Twinings teas m could have been a bit broader. The food took a while and I was getting quite hesitated with what a chain retardant would bring to my plate. Pleasantly I was surprised. The pasta sauce was made from fresh ingredients and very well presented. Both of our dishes were amazing in the end. As my cliché conclusion came around again, the dish needed a dash of salt, otherwise it was perfect. Worth going to on a casual night out. Or a first date if you don’t want to take things to a too formal level. I highly recommend.

It was the Boxing Day bank holiday and we wanted breakfast out. Frankie and Benny’s was the only place open within walking distance of the shops. Do, in we went. You can order a very American non-stop cup of coffee or tea while listening to music from the rock n till era. We both went for eggs. My light breakfast was perfect though my husband’s egg Benedict was a bit bland. It was good enough for the moment but wouldn’t be somewhere I’d choose in the future unless it was the only place available again.

We came into the O2 Centre needing a good breakfast. This place filled the bill. It’s not the cheapest place for breakfast. Or even the best, I suppose. But it was convenient and different from Apostrophe and Starbucks which were more pastries etc. the breakfast pizza was a bit of a miss. Just a meat pizza with an egg in the middle. The pancakes with bacon and eggs were big hits with the teens. The free refills on the caffe latte and cappuccino(both of which were good) was a nice touch too. So overall, an a-OK place for breakfast. With so many Italian places for lunch/dinner, you’re on your own for that.
