Excellent traditional fish & chips from a proper chippy.

I was disappointed by Fresh. Both fish and chips seemed oversaturated with oil, and the chips in particular seemed tinged with the taste of something odd — was it the oil they’d used? I did finish both, but only because I was really hungry. The regular fish and chips I had came to £5.80 which I guess is reasonably cheap. But I’d very happily pay more for a tastier, less fat-saturated product.

It’s just okay. It’s not the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, but it certainly does the trick when you’re craving something to clog your arteries. The trick is to ask them to pop your fish in fresh as some of the fish sits in the warming area for a while before getting sold. You will have to wait for 10 – 15 minutes, but it’s worth the wait. The portions are enormous so definitively don’t order the large chips unless you are planning to feed a small army of growing boys just back from a very long football practice. Well, that might be a slight exaggeration, but you get the point. But it’s very cheap, so really you can’t complain.
