Food was amazing here! I’ve walked past this place hundreds of times over the last few years and finally made my way here for lunch on Saturday. They have a lovely set menu, all the food was extremely fresh! My husband and I were particularly impressed with the hummus with lamb — so good! I definitely recommend ordering it off the set menu. For dessert I had this strange Turkish dessert with pine nuts and cinnamon with a scoop of ice cream, I can’t remember what it was called but it was the last thing on the dessert menu. It was a strange texture, good flavor services hot. My husband got the rice pudding which wasn’t too sugary and was more milky. I we go again I will go with the rice pudding as I liked it better when I tried my husband’s portion. Overall great experience, decent and friendly service and above all amazing food!

This place is a great alternative to the pricey restaurants in the area. Mediterranean food, with reasonable prices, good service and quite a good amount of food in every dish. I ordered some hummus with bread plus a veggie Mousaka and I was pretty impressed. If you like mediterranean, moroccan food and want something good but not super expensive, this is your place :)

On a rainy London April Saturday afternoon we sought shelter at Gallipoli bazaar having had red all the great reviews on this place. And sadly we didn’t find this place to be all that Unilocalers said it is. The cozy Mediterranean/Turkish atmosphere is much more salient on the first floor than the second and sadly we were sited there, almost jammed, next to a drafty window and at a wobbly table. We did not ask for the table to be fixed but next to us other costumers had to as their table was in fact belly dancing. In order to raise our core temperature we ordered cocktails and for the price asked they were delish, bang for the buck and not diluted! The service staff were great as well as understanding when we asked to share a full Meze for two for the entire table(3 of us). We were thinking of what other Unilocalers mentioned in regards of huge serving sizes and not being that famished and on some dietary restrictions we thought we easily could get by on a Meze for two. We did get by but to be honest the serving size is ratter normal than what many Unilocalers refer to as huge. What felt most limiting at Gallipoli was the presentation and execution of the dishes! Everything served was okay but nothing did stand out. A possible reason, in regards of the dishes containing meat, was them being served not as hot as they should have been. We would also have preferred and enjoyed the Turkish bread served hot. But in all fairness at least partly the reason why we did feel underwhelmed might be due pretty high expectations, sadly unmet, influenced by the other Unilocaler’s reviews and ratings.

Friendly and well meaning service, dramatic Turkish décor that was nice but a bit dark for my personal taste. I liked the cool pictures of classic Turkish actors and actresses on the walls. Decent food at decent prices, a nice restaurant.

A very lively atmosphere and great setting for mouth watering food. This is a young people’s place. I loved the energy and the enthusiasm of the staff.

I always get confused between café gallipoli and café gallipoli again(another gallipoli just down the road) but pretty sure they are all the same people cos it is very similar and equally good. Until recently they did they most amazing mixed meze for £6, it has just gone up in price but not by much as=nd is still excellent value and great food. Try it!

Cool North African Décor [Check] Great Reviews [Check] So popular they have 3 branches next to eachother [Check] The Unilocal promise of a humungous amount of food [Check] The reality was all a little so so. Granted we didn’t try the seemingly legendary grape shisha but we were five guys all hungry who ordered the full meze for five. Although the dishes were perfectly acceptable it left us far from full with underwhelming tastes and merely average presentation. Judging by the other great reviews maybe we arrived on a bad day or missed the truly great dishes so perhaps Gallipoli’s is worth a revisit… but only perhaps.

We needed somewhere to warm up and were drawn in by the cosy lighting of Gallipoli. Very impressed that they were happy to just serve us hot drinks at a time when most people were having full dinners! I must have walked past on numerous occasions but never actually noticed the beautiful haven inside(the shop front is rather cramped). I will try and remember to come back and sample some of their food everything looked delicious.

I was walking along Upper Street looking for a place to have dinner. As I was walking I noticed one restaurant with the name Gallipoli, then further along I thought I saw another. As I was turning back down the street, I noticed a third Gallipoli. Yes, it was late, yes I was tired after along day of work, and yes I was HUNGRY, but, I really thought I was starting to go a bit crazy, how could I have possibly seen three of the same place? They all had a similar name, and looked somewhat the same. I thought my work had gotten the best of me, and I had finally started to go crazy. Since Gallipoli was obviously calling my name, I stepped into the restaurant, which had a VERY heavy door by the way(beware!) and fell in love with the tiny, yet Cozy atmosphere. I was happy just to get a seat. The place was packed. The staff were friendly, and I had to ask if there was another restaurant of the same name on the same street. He laughed, and said yes, there were a total of three, all owned by the same people, and all had the same food. Thank goodness I wasn’t loosing my mind! I sat down and was admiring the décor, all which I learned later was hand made and from Turkey, I think I forgot to mention the restaurant served Turkish food. As I looked at the menu, I had a very hard time trying to find something, as everything sounded good. So I went with their 2nd Set Menu for 17.50LBS that included a starter, main, and desert. I wish I would have read the reviews on Unilocal before coming here, as people are correct, there is ALOT of food! Thankfully I hadn’t had much for lunch. If you are one person, I wouldn’t recommend the set menu, unless you are extremely hungry with a large stomach. The food is so good though, you can’t help but eat it all. I had to pack my stomach in a wheel barrel in order to get out. Everything from the grilled to perfection pita bread that came with the hummus, to the lamb dish I ordered, to the felafel, to the bonafie pie was heavenly. The bread was not that cheap, stale, tasteless stuff you get in the store. This was the real thing. The lamb melted in your mouth, and the dessert, there are not words that could describe it. To top it off, the have a nice selection of wines you can choose from. Many options that you can buy by the glass. The staff is extremely friendly, and Turkish. To top it off, they gave me a free piece of Baklava. I didn’t know how I was going to fit it, but I couldn’t resist. It was the icing on the cake. There is no secret this place is good. How else could they keep three of them full on a week day! This place was busy and had a steady stream of people until I left at 10:00pm. Fantastic place. I will have to try the other two now upon my return. Still many other dishes on the menu to try. However, I won’t be going for the set menu again. My stomach can’t handle that much food.

My friends, family and I came here for my birthday meal. SOMUCHFOOD, SUCHGOODVALUE. The waiting staff slyly clocked that it was my birthday and made me drink a flaming sambuca shot and belly dance on the table for the pleasure. I like neither sambuca, belly dancing, or being centre of attention for that matter, but this place still gets 5 stars for fun, value for money and taste! Also, I felt like I was in ariel’s grotto whenever I went to the toilet so plus a gazillion stars for that!

I had to come to one of the Gallipoli’s since I loved them when I lived in London. After careful consideration, my friend and I chose the Bazaar. I got the Bahama Mama cocktail, and it was fruity goodness. We ordered the prawns as the appetizer, and it was fine. What I loved though, was the lamb in my lamb tagine. The meat was so incredibly juicy and tender; it was cooked for rather long and so as I put my fork into the meat the texture was shred-y. The meat had picked up the flavors of its own juices as well as the tomato sauce. There were beans and olives in the dish as well for a mixture of tastes and textures, plus pieces of bread that had soaked up the sauces and juices. It was delicious, and I wish I had been more hungry so I could have eaten more of it(darn jetlag).

Mitite Kofta — spiced minced lamb to die for… Borek — feta, pastry, heaven… Borulce — I never loved black eyed peas before this… Warak Enab — stuffed grape leaves with loads of flavour! Zeytinyagli Bakla — broad beans?! Who knew they were amazing… Cacik — similar to tzatiki, waaaay tasty. Actually, just go for dinner or lunch and order the full meze. 2 people minimum. You will have to roll yourself out, it is so much food, and it is so very, very worth it.

I had dinner last Sunday at Gallipoli and am a fan. We walked in on a busy Sunday evening around 8 and were able to be seated by the window almost immediately. The servers were friendly and competent. THe vibe of the place is definitely fun and relaxed. The food was pretty yum. We had warak enib(stuffed grape leaves) as a starter and it wasn’t as salty as some places I’ve had them, which is nice. My partner had the incik, which I had a bite of, and was DELISH. Fasntastic texture. I had the borek, which is a bunch of ltitle pastries with feta cheese, parsley, and other goodies in there. They were crunchy without being hard or burnt. Next time I will have to try the Meze option — the people at the table next to me were having it and I was drooling.

The restaurant is very small and cramped and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to open up. Even as we were waiting by the door we seemed to be in everyone’s way. The boyfriend and I weren’t very hungry, so we ordered the appetizer platter and another appetizer to share. They were both very good. I liked how the platter gave you 7 different dishes to try. If I was more hungry I could have eaten the entire plate myself! Service was pretty prompt, even as they were filled to capacity. I would definitely go back!

A bit cramped, but the food makes up for it. Fast service and reasonable prices. The meze set meals make for a good starter for a group, and the grilled whole sea breem was yummy.

I love this place! Since I’ve lived in London(5 years) I’ve been here more times that I can remember and when someone from outside London comes to visit it’s always at the top of my list for a place to take them. Gallipoli Bazaar is definitely the best, and most authentic, of the three although I think you can get most of their specialities in all of their restaurants. The lamb kebab is simply the best lamb I’ve ever tasted and it’s not even covered in a sauce to make it taste like that, it’s just the cooking method and quality of meat. The Bazaar Mezze Platter is a nice taster dish to start between the table or as a main for one(5 cold and 2 hot dishes on a plate), the bread basket is almost impossible not to gobble up in an instant along with their smooth-as-smooth-can-be hummous. Make sure you ask for some of their home made chilli salsa to have with the hummous; to cut through the creaminess — a perfect combo. Other great mains I’ve had include the Moussaka, the Borek(delicious pastry pyramids filled with cream cheese), the Iskander and the chicken on a pitta with sauce and rice, whose name escapes me right now. It might not be the most sophisticated or immaculate place, and I know what the previous reviewer meant when he said it was a little dark(especially the loos!), but I find it’s really got a great atmosphere, the food’s wonderful and the staff are generally superb(if you’re lucky, you might get free shots of Limoncello like I did on my last visit). Downstairs, the tables are made out of large metal decorative trays and multi-coloured shandeliers hang from the walls and ceilings. If you can ignore the Upper St traffic rushing past outside, I find that Gallipoli lets you transport to another world…

One of three or four Gallipoli restaurants in the area, this one is special, because it offers the Oriental feel. Try their delicious tangines and couscous and feel like you are 10000 miles away from London. Very very packed on weekends and evenings, so reservations are a must. Avoid going during special events in the area, as the atmosphere can be quite dodgy then. Very friendly staff and an experience worth the money. Reasonably priced. Starter, mains and wine for two people around 60 pounds.

Gallipoli Bazaar is one of four Gallipoli restaurants on Upper Street which provides good value Turkish food in great surroundings. I have been to three of the Gallipoli restaurants and Bazaar is definately my favourite. It’s the perfect place for a celebration and the staff make you feel very welcome. I went there a few weeks ago with ten friends for my boyfriend’s birthday. The food was fantastic and arrived very quickly considering it was a busy Saturday night. Everyone was impressed by the cold and hot meze, the falafels and feta cheese parcels were truly amazing. My lamb kebab was really tasty but I didn’t finish my meal as I was busy catching up with friends and still stuffed from the meze! There was another birthday party that night and the staff sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and even made the birthday girl stand on her chair. To my boyfriend’s relief and my disappoint I had not mentioned his birthday when I booked the table! Gallipoli is a great Turkish restaurant with tasty food and a lively atmosphere. I will definately be returning very soon.
