Great atmosphere and cheap but good food! Two thumbs up! Also, it’s a great location to go over Politics, Art, and Sciences with.

A perfect cheap and cheerful café along a strip of street where other more expensive alternatives beckon.
Students, OAPs, teachers, locals all seem to come here for some hearty grub. Plates are big, service is quick, staff are super friendly. For a £5 you can stuff yourself with a set breakfast and a cup of tea. Eat that hangover away!

Great food that’s cheap and served fast, and the atmosphere is always pleasently calm and friendly. Fantastic little café to go to if you’re in the mood for a quick fry-​up!

It’s been a year since I last visited the Café, but as soon as I walk up to the counter get «Welcome Back»
Slightly unnerving but amazing all the same the guy behind till remembers not just me but pretty much every Goldsmiths student past or present that walked through the doors (and yes, even goes as far to friend you on Facebook).
None-​the-​less this place is never empty. Why? Cheap and very cheerful.
It’s the mother of all greasy spoons. The legend of all dodgy cafes. The crème de la crème of hangover incubators for the masses.
It caters for your fry ups– your chips– your jacket potatoes and your sarnies. I have nothing but love for this establishment, so get in there if you want to be part of the legend.

Goldsmiths Café, New Cross I have come here regularly on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for a while, so this is based on visits over a period of time. The food is what you would expect in a café (all-​day breakfasts and traditional meals), prepared quickly and with warm and friendly service. The busiest periods are during term-​time as a substantial proportion of the clientele is made up of students (arty ones it’s Golsmiths). It has a fresh trendy feel. There are two large TV screens, which play chart music. These are not intrusive though. Décor is woody and dark and it does not have a ‘greasy spoon’ feel, with too much plastic. There are seats and tables at the front outside for smokers, and this area is under a canopy.
ADDED 21 April 2012: And there’s a lovely new lady there that I’ve only seen the last couple of times. When she brings your order over, she calls you darling. Very sweet! :-). Definitely service with a smile and with a term of endearment too!

If you are a Goldsmith’s student, you have to go, or if you just so happen to be wondering around New Cross, you have to go. The service is fantastic, the food is incredible, and the price is cheap. Best memories at this place… if you happened to see a bunch of girls who all looked incredibly hung over, wearing the same clothing they probably wore out last night, laughing but looking ashamed… that would be my friends and I.

I love this place and now that I’m no longer studying abroad at Goldsmiths I miss it every time I get a craving for a lovely fry-​up. For me it was all about ordering a full, sometimes with bubble. Great price, great food, fast service! What more do you want from a place like this?

The Goldsmiths Café serves the usual standard café food and drink you’d expect; all day breakfasts, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, lasagne, shepherd’s pie, salads and teas and coffees.
It’s usually filled with students from Goldsmiths uni across the road which isn’t such a bad thing as they’re all laidback and trendy.
The food isn’t anything to write home about, and some might argue you’d be better off getting frozen food from the Iceland round the corner and putting that in the oven for lunch rather than head here.
Maybe they’re right. This place might have scored higher if on my last visit with a six year old in tow, they actually managed to bring us the plate of chips we’d ordered for the little mite. Although they did offer to give him a plate of chips for free as consolation for waiting so long, we had to go and declined.

I have cured so many hangovers here it is unreal. And from the amount of students and locals who cram themselves in here, I wouldn’t say I am the only one. This café has nothing about it to imply pretence or an attempt to serve fry ups with a bit of class. No. The fry up are just fry ups. And you will finish every crumb and feel bloated and full and happy.
I actually always go for a jacket potato with beans and cheese. They are huge, oozing with butter and perfect with many glasses of orange juice. Will make you feel alive once more. Have no fear, Goldsmiths café is here! All this sets me back about £3. Bargain,
Tha atmosphere is always bustling. You take your order, sit down with a ticket and they will shout out your number and deliver your food. Quite quickly. The people who work there are very friendly and will go out of their way to serve you well. Give them a big smile from me!
