Pretty good stuff! They packed up my leftovers and I happily ate it for the next 2 days. Their garlic naan is divine. And they mean it when it says ‘spicy’…

The naan bread is amazing. We got the garlic and the almond coconut ones. We then got another almond coconut because it was so good! The top lamb dish was amazing and the chicken murgh masala was also delicious. Definitely coming back. Only reason for 4 stars is they have trouble understanding us and tried to have us order more than we wanted a couple of times.

The food was pretty good, but the service was substandard. The staff was more interested in folding napkins than serving clients. There was no toilet paper in the ladies, and we mentioned it to the waiter. He did nothing. So don’t expect a hygienic experience here.

Had a really decent curry here not so long ago. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is great. Lovely tasting curry’s and the breads are good too. Not quite as good as tiffin tin if you are getting a takeaway, but if you want to eat out, you’ll have no complaints. A clear 4 stars.

My boyfriend and I don’t normally bother ordering Indian food, as it is nearly always disappointing. Things might sound exciting on the menu… but quite often we end up with a greasy mess, that all tastes the same, no matter what we order. However this weekend the snow, my extreme tiredness and the complete lack of food in our flat made us willing to risk ordering some Indian cuisine. We read through the Unilocal reviews(Thank you Unilocalers!), so I peeked at the menu for Gulshaan… it sounded hopeful! We then ordered(through a polite, well-spoken man) who told us to expect our dinner within 45 minutes. Less than half an hour later it arrived, and filled our flat with yummy Indian aromas. Yay! — Murgh Massala– This was described as barbecued chicken with almonds and cashew nuts blended in a creamy sauce… I don’t normally order non-spicy curry, but this was simply lovely. — Chana Brinjal — Baby aubergines with chick peas… Om nom nom — Saag Paneer– Looovely paneer with plenty of creamy spinach(they must have used piles of butter as this tasted gooorgeous) Everything was delicious, although the sauces were a teeny bit too liquid-y. We ordered naan bread, but next time I will get rice as well, to help soak up the yumminess.

I have to admit to getting a takeway from here more often than a nutritionist would strictly speaking recommend. Not just because it’s a handy 1 minute walk from my flat, but because the lamb rogan josh has to be tried to be believed, the naans are excellent and the people who work there are LOVELY. Plus there’s little Sainsbury’s right next door for the necessary curry accoutrements like beer, mango chutney etc. Oh, and The Vegetarian always gets the paneer, for those of you who like meat-free things. Most controversially, I would politely disagree with Giles Coren and say this whips the bum of Bengal Lancer. And that’s honestly not just because it’s a full further five minutes walk away. Honest.

As I’m a vegetarian, but my family and friends are largely not, I am generally a big fan of landing at Indian restaurants when I eat out with them. That makes me a bit of a snob when it comes to consuming curry, and I’m not at all a fan of your typical English curry. Good news for us as new residents in Kentish Town, and for other folks who like Indian food, and eat it with a discerning palate — Gulshan’s is TERRIFIC in the range that it offers for both meat eaters and veggies. With good dishes like Butternut Squash Chilli Curry, Mushroom & Okra Curry, Paneer Tikka, Chicken Jalfraizi, just to name a few, we’ll definitely make this our local Indian spot. There are better restaurants out there for Indian, but not at this price! Gulshan’s offers gourmet Indian at very affordable prices.

The service and food were both outstanding! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Indian meal in the Camden/Kentish Town area.

A night of babysitting at my sisters in Kentish Town meant a takeaway was in order, with our hands full, no one was in the mood for cooking. So we decided to try Gulshan, a local Indian restaurant who fortunately for us deliver. Having heard good things about the Tandoori Chicken here, I skimmed the menu and also order some Paneer Tikka, a dish of Chilli Butternut Squash, Plain Naan, Poppadoms and Brinjal Bhaji(a grilled aubergine dish). Of these the Chicken was the real star, while the naan and poppadums were pretty standard, the aubergine dish was spoiled by the chefs love affair with oil. The Paneer Tika was little better, borderline rubbery, only the butternut squash would probably find itself ordered again alongside the chicken.

Yuuuuuuummmmmmm!!! I never would have expected to find such a great restaurant so close to the tube station, but Gulshaan pleasantly surprised me. Excellent service and gorgeous food. The best feature in my opinion(other than the incredibly kind staff) is that they give you HUMONGOUS dishes of chutneys and sauces with the poppadoms. I nearly made a meal of it! In fact, I DID make a meal of it and ended up having to bring nearly all of my korma home with me, which I ended up eating the minute I got home anyway. Highly recommended!

4 star food and 5 star hospitality! Gulshaan provided an excellent service from the second we stepped in the door. We were escorted to our table and the waiter kindly pushed my chair in for me(not something commonplace in Kentish Town establishments). Our two waiters were extremely patient and happily brought us water while we pondered over their thorough menu. The pompadoms and dips were delicious and beautifully displayed as was the paneer and onion bahji. The mango and blackberry lassi’s were by far the best I’ve ever had. There was a lovely pace to everything being served, even through my slow eating tendencies. My fruity main was matched nicely to a serving pilau rice with coconut powder and peshwari naan, which can be topped by only previous taste sensation. Anything brought to the table was displayed on a dressed plate like a fine dining restaurant, there were even hot towels and after-eight mints to top it off. If you’re in search of service with a smile and a quality meal, Gulshaan should definitely be on your list. It is a welcome change from the usual oily options.

With the exception of Gordon Ramsey’s 3* restaurant on Hospital Road, this is the best service I have ever received dining in London. They didn’t make me laugh, perform tricks or sing, but the service flowed with a stunning grace that timed everything to perfection. The genuine smiles, offers to help with the menu and delivery timing of the dishes were excellent. The presentation of the food was also fantastic. The way the waiters placed the plates on the table showed often overlooked attention to detail, and revealed their passion for service. As for the food, I cannot fault it. The poppadom’s were light, crispy and not greasy. The dips and salads were clearly fresh, and our starters of onion bahji and tikka paneer were very good. All along we were asked if we were ready for our next dish. I liked this little consideration. Our mains were also very well prepared and when my girlfriend couldn’t finish hers, they almost insisted they bag it and that we take it home with us. If I was to make any recommendation it would be for the lights to be a little lower, to add a touch of romanticism. For much of the evening we were the only two people there. As other diners arrived I could see they were receiving the same very high standard of service. The surroundings and décor although fine do not measure up to the good standard food and excellent service. Even so, Gulshaan deserve their well earned four stars.
