What a great little café to stop by for lunch! My friend and I were just walking around and the smell that came from the café was just too alluring. We grabbed a table quickly. We couldn’t see a menu, there were no prices, but we sat down anyway — one of those spontaneous moments. They get rather busy at lunch, so be prepared to get takeaway if you cannot find a table. They only have specials of the day — which could be totally different to what my friend and I ordered. Good service as the waiter told us the menu and gave us the food rather quickly. Overall, it was a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and if I was in the area, I would definitely come again.

No wonder this place has such great reviews — it’s erm, well, great. This is by far one of the best places for lunch that I have found in the area. Fantastic options and a queue out the door testifies to the fact that this is a well loved and favourite haunt. Now if only it were closer to where I worked! I love these grilled sandwiches as I love cheese and I love cured meat! Each one I have had is melty, tasty and filling, — so what more could I want? Sandwiches are made freshly with great bread, and taste amazing and I think for the price(around £5), weighted against what you get, very reasonable — a bargain almost. The staff are also lovely, they seem genuinely enthusiastic, and consider it must get so hot behind the counter in the summer with all those grilling machines, you have to appreciate their happy demeanor!

My absolute favorite place for a fresh delicious sandwich. They make every sandwich to order with whatever great ingredients they have in stock. My go-to stop for lunch in all of central London.

Pastrami Sandwich on the freshest bread I’ve ever had from a deli in London. Ingredients are all fresh. The tomatoes are dripping, as if they were still on a vine this morning. The lasagne beating eaten at the table next to me is giving me food envy. And the price for a sandwich and a drink is really reasonable(a bargain when you think of how fresh and tasty it all was).

I love this place. First of all they have excellent ingredients, so your sandwich is going to be tasty, no matter what you order. Different Italian meats, great cheeses, and the dressing, a sort of oil and vinegar based liquid is just right. And the service is great. They won me over when I arrived once at closing time, desperate for some food after too many meetings in a row. The lady was sitting down, but she took pity on me and said«no problem, come on in,» and she made me a fabulous sandwich with lots of care. The fact that it was very large was a bonus, as well as being very well-priced. It seems to be a family run affair, and you can tell they care about their customers. I keep this one bookmarked, as any time I’m in the area during lunchtime it remains a candidate.

I’m eating my spicy salami and mozzarella sandwich while I write this review. As another reviewer noted there is no menu, so by viewing the meatcase I made my selection. The meat and bread are both sliced fresh for each order. They grill the ciabatta for quite a few minutes which give it this amazing crunchy crust, but still soft and slightly warmed inside. As my sandwich was grilling, one of the workers went downstairs and came back up each time with 4 steaming serving trays of freshly made entrees(I saw lasange, and a meat and mushroom dish). So it appears they offer a few house specialties each day along with the sandwiches. The credit card minimum is 10 pounds, which is hard to achieve with one person since the sandwiches are so inexpensive! I only had a card to they charged me 10 but gave me a voucher on my receipt for the difference for the next time I arrive. I liked this approach so that I didn’t have to buy stuff I didn’t want to get to the minimum. It also forces me to go back which I don’t mind too much at all!

The owner was so sweet to us when we walked in as they were closing. He offered to make us a sandwich for take away and I was ecstatic he chose to do so. With fresh bread, prosciutto and mozzarella, he made us a great sandwich to eat on our walk home at 5GBP each which is standard. I will definitely try something else as the choices were abundant.

there is always a line out the door for a good reason. italian guys behind the counter taking orders and if you don’t know what you want or if you didn’t realize it’s what you wanted, they’ll come up with a sandwich or salad. the ingredients are fresh and tastily toasted.

I was living around the corner from Harris for more than two years and had at least 50 lunches here. Hands down the best sandwiches in London… come to think of it, I never had better sandwiches anywhere… ever. The salmon and avocado salad is awesome too. Everything is super fresh… try it, you won’t be disappointed.

OMG. My friends have been going on about this place for a while. I was rather skeptical because I’d been told their sandwiches are as good as burritos. This is a very bold claim to make. I am pleased to report that the claim well founded. The sandwich I had was huge. Like… huuuuuuge! And so tasty! At first I didn’t think I’d be able to finish it, such was the size, but each bite was more yummy than the last and I found myself wanting more at the end. All for the princely sum of £4.50. Best sandwich ever!

You have like a little travel to Italia thanks to the staff! It like they’ve been taken off Italia and directly put in this little London coffee… and you can feel they’re doing this for a long time, THE old Italian familly! Food is VERY tasty and huge for the price… You have a toasted sandwich that you don’t even know how you’ll eat all… with the top in of your choices, for 4 to 5£! Very exceptional for central london :) Salad looks very good also. Sometime a bit difficult to get a table to site but I would definitely recommended it !

HT Harris get the easiest five stars I’ve given so far. Sure, I’m usually generous, but they really, really deserve it here. Contrary to impressions it’s actually Italian run, two old ladies and one old gentleman. They make ciabattas and salads. Slowly, but don’t rush them! They’re the best in the world! Tell them vaguely what you want and they’ll fill the gaps in the most generous fashion with the best tasting ingredients you’ll find. So you think you like ham? How about half a pig rolled up neatly on a bed of artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, avocado, olives, lettuce and balsamic? That’s the parma ham salad. It’ll set you back a bit, but you’ll struggle to finish it. You can have a doggy bag if you ask nicely enough, though beware of being ticked off that you must finish your dinner. The staff may seem like hard nuts to crack but they are genuinely the friendliest and most sparkling set of people you can meet. Watch out for the ‘old chicken’ banter between the regular Marge(always outside eating carrot cake) and the gentleman owner. The pasteis de nata are really rather good too, if you’ve still got room.

I have never, EVER, seen someone put as much effort and care into making a salad as the delightful old woman in HT Harris. Seriously you could be mistaken for thinking she was preparing tea for the Queen or something. When the salad finally arrived(and I certainly didn’t mind waiting) it was absolutely exquisite; brimming with sumptuous veg, fresh fruit, and delicious ham. The place might not look like much from the outside(nor indeed the inside!), but you’ll struggle to find anything comparable for the price.

A very nice place owned by the unforgettable Pietro and its italian familly. We enjoyed the tastes of local products, especially the delicious and very hearty paninis! I would definitly recommend this place for its warm atmosphere and for the quality of italian food.

As i was saying ;-) I just stepped out of the hair dressers and grabbed a coffee. The cheapest coffee in London(£1) and the panini’s are out of this world. Family owned coffee shop, fully licensed and REAL Italian. Its an absolute GEM :-)

I just finished the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten in London and I’m pretty excited about it. I got it here at HT Harris, a crumbling and innocuous little deli north of Oxford Street that I had heard referenced on some blogs as being something a little bit special. Just like most places that get 5 stars from me, HT Harris keeps things simple. The old, smiley Italian guy who cuts my ciabatta asks me which cheese and meat I want. Then he drizzles the bread with olive oil, layers both, I repeat, both sides of it with Parma ham and gruyère. With hands that have been memorising these same actions for decades, he then adds some tomatoes, sprigs of rocket, salt and pepper, and whacks it in the panini grill for 4 minutes. I’m in heaven… Its £4.50 for one of these babies which, you might say, is pretty expensive. But consider that all the ingredients are top-quality and will fill you up past dinner, the place is licensed so you can enjoy a beer or even a limoncello with your food, and the service is delivered by someone who’s a master of his trade and who unfailingly makes an effort to share a smile with every person who orders from him. Cheap I’d say. But feel free to run along to Sainsbury’s. I hear they have a really nice meal-deal on.
