Honky Tonk is a place of hits and misses. Atmosphere was good. Similar to the diner. However service was a little miss. Staff just chatting to friends, a little oblivious to the environment. Staff forgot orders, and took a while to flag down for things like water, and the bill. When they say no rush here, they really don’t mind how long you stay and never really come by to check if there’s anything additional you need. On the food it’s the same picture. The quesadilla was a little disappointing. The potato skins awesome, the wings a little small. The mains were excellent. Not fried chicken burger really hit the spot. Gigantic portion. The dessert a pecan pie was alright, but the belgian waffle was amazing. If consistency were a little higher then this place would definitely be a 4. However as it is it’s a little like a poor imitation of the Diner which is a well run ship consistent across all the locations I’ve visited across London.

So confused by this place… It’s like a Weatherspoons pub trying desperately to pass as a gourmet burger bar. I agree with other reviewers, this place has some blatant faults. The food isn’t too bad, it’s just that you aren’t really getting what you pay for. The burgers are bland and the breakfast portions are just too small. The service is also a complete minefield, we found a senior staff member who was incredibly friendly and accommodating but then we had a food runner with a very funky attitude. Go here if you’re feeling lucky, and you have had a few drinks beforehand.

Good: décor, menu OK: food, atmosphere Bad: service, toilets(i can’t imagine trying to get up and down those stairs whilst intoxicated — and this place is a bar) I was so excited to go to Honky Tonk, but I was sorely disappointed by my visit. We were quite a large group, so I understand it can be harder to find a table for 12, but we were awkwardly bunched in the back corner, and it was far from a busy night. The service was also incredibly slow and our rounds of drinks often forgotten. But I was truly let down by the food, which held so much promise on the pages of the menu, but left much to be desired when it arrived on the table. My ribs were ok, my Mac and cheese bland and boring and my fries, well they were fries. There was a mix of orders around the table — burgers, hot dogs, salads — and we all left feeling at least a little underwhelmed. Given the explosion of American-style restaurants in London, Honky Tonk is not doing anything to stand out from the crowd.

Not thrilling in the least. «British behaviour, American flavours» may be what Honky Tonk advertises, but I personally feel that«skeezy writing on the wall, alarmingly loud music, and middling-to-poor service, plus boring food» would be a better and more honest descriptor. I went with 2 friends to try Honky Tonk. They’d prepurchased a 3 course limited menu meal via Amazon(whatever their Groupon-type deals are called), but I chose from the regular menu. This caused confusion and required the waitress making a few trips to get the menus given to us right. It also meant that when it was time to leave, after we’d been sitting there with an empty table for nearly half an hour, it took 3 servers to get me my bill. The food: uninspiring. Firstly, when I had a simple question about the menu our waitress didn’t know the answer(it pertained to portion size). She very happily checked, but that sort of thing is something that a waitress working a shift covering the 6−8pm period on a Friday night really should have a handle on. I had the crab cakes to start and the salmon salad for a main. The crab cakes were ok, but I did have a couple bits of shell. Not sure if these are made in-house or frozen or what, but shell is never a good thing. The salmon on my salad was dry and pale to look at when it arrived and tasted about as good. Not bad, mind you, but nothing to write home about. My friends had burgers. One wasn’t finished. One also didn’t finish her brownie dessert(and this girl usually is a dessert eater). For the quality of the food, the prices are high. The environment: ick. Written on the doorframe: «Customers must remove all clothing upon entry.» WTF? Obviously meant to be silly, but came across as really skeezy. There were a few other questionable things written on the walls or menus as well. Then there was the music. When we got there(just past 6:30pm) it was what I would class as rather loud. We all commented on it as we sat down. Throughout the course of our meal the volume was continually turned up and up and up to the point that we were very literally shouting across our 4 top table to hear one another. In the end, instead of ordering another drink and staying at Honky Tonk, we left to go ANYwhere else where there was a small chance of having a conversation. And then, as mentioned earlier, it took 3 servers to get me my bill(as the others had prepayed). It was so disorganized that I really think we could’ve all walked out and no one would have noticed. This place looks kinda neat on the outside, but I can’t imagine I’ll ever be going back of my own accord. My friend agreed that it was worth giving it a shot, but it didn’t earn a second chance.
