4 or 5, well it’s a big dilemma… Service is awesome. The place got a really nice atmosphere. Go there during the afternoon to chill and you won’t be disappointed. Lot of humor, sarcasm. I love this place and I will go back there. The food was ok, I think I’m being picky! So 4 very solid stars, might upgrade to 5 next time I’ll go!

Such an unusual place to find on the Isle of Dogs, but so welcoming and cosy. It’s hard to describe what it is. It’s probably the love child of a pub & café. Has a great community vibe and serves some decent food. Amazing burgers and the best crispy wedges. There is also an arts theatre downstairs, so good to see what’s on. They also have specials nights with deals for burgers or steaks. It’s also known as one of the best brunch places on the Isle of Dogs but we are yet to try and confirm. We will be coming back.(Visit — 14/02/2015 Lunch)

Really nice and cozy café. I’ve only been here once and my boyfriend and I ordered the French toast with fruits. Looks good on picture but I wish it taste as good as it looks! The French toast are kind of too soggy and everything on the plate was almost tasteless. We might come back again to give this place another chance but definitely not ordering the French toast.

Isn’t this just the coolest little spot! Nestled in amongst the City workers’ flash apartments, the spruced up council flats, and the random assortment of shops, above an enchanted but slightly off-kilter, Burton-esque looking theatre, is Hubbub Café Bar. It gets even better inside with books adorning walls, battered leather couches, old scuffed but loved wooden furniture, knick knacks, a very well stocked bar, and of course all-important fairy lights to complete the look. It’s a casual spot with lots of people in on their own working away on their laptops, and a general vibe of chill, with some gorgeous 70s tuneage in the background.(Note, I was here from 11am-12 on a Monday morning — I’m sure it takes on an entirely different light at night) The guy working there was lovely — really friendly and chatty, but left us alone at the same time — the perfect combo. The food was great. MASSIVE portions and good value. I wouldn’t say it was the BEST food I’d ever had, but it was hearty and well put together, so can’t really fault it. If I ever happen to be staying in the area again, I’ll definitely check it out.

Great for breakfasts, their full English is one to behold — good quality sausages and bacon, and the toast is great as well. Paired with a large glass of their freshly squeezed orange juices it’s a perfect start to the day. Only been here for dinner once and it was okay, nothing too special so I definitely prefer the breakfasts to the evening mains.

Home sweet Hubbub! This place is my absolute favourite in all of London. I live within walking distance(by that I mean a couple of km’s) and go there regularly. The managers already knew me and my housemate/best friend by the time we’d been 2 times as we’re now all on first name basis. The atmosphere is perfect, we use it basically as if it were our own lounge room and no one minds at all. There’s no pretence, there’s no pressure or push to leave, there’s no pressure to even buy anything, just go, enjoy, use their wifi, lounge around, play some board games, munch on the wedges, get the focaccia with pesto and enjoy. I’m slowly but surely making my way through their entire menu, including all the desserts and the banana crumble is amazing. Plus, the wall is signed by Sir Ian McKellen(he’s apparently a chairman of the theatre downstairs). I can’t praise Hubbub enough and it’ll be one of the places I miss the most once I go home to Australia.

Great atmosphere, menu and prices. Best mushrooms ever. No five stars as they do not know how to make proper over-easy eggs.

Been coming here for 5 years now. The food is great, one of the tastiest burgers in London, breakfasts are really nice and they even have some beer on tap. Cute little café above an old church theatre. But the staff… Friendly, really friendly, but they just don’t give a shit about service. Food often comes really late, orders usually wrong. Asked for some butter this morning and she came down when we had finished everything and were getting ready to go. «Here’s your butter!» in an ever chirpy voice. They’re an interesting bunch of people, if you don’t spot one, have a look outside the back door to find them fiddling with a piercing or fixing their hair. «Any chance of a cup of tea and the bill please?» Still waiting for those, managed to chalk out a bitter review in that time…

Great breakfast. Proper sausages etc. you can create your own combo from the a la carte menu too. They serve brekkie til 4pm every day which is great for late risers like me. Usually some cool art in the walls and board games to play if you’re so inclined. They have a build your own burger menu too but I have not tried.

Just an update on Hubbub. We spent the past two weeks staying at a very cool apartment across the way from Hubbub on the Thames. Our first night after a very long flight from San Diego, we dragged ourselves across the street and up the stairs to such a surprise. Sipping a pint we checked out the menu and then saw the Blackboard. mmmm good. My wife had the Salmon and I had one of the tastiest ½ squab chicken with Chino-like veggies that I have ever had. Trust me, they have a chef! We did not have a bad meal in the two weeks. We used Unilocal and groupon and living social and ate at 3 different michelin starred places as well as the savoy which was a real treat. The dessert with chocolate caramel at the Hubbub was to die for. I had it 3 times and still lost 2 pounds from all the walking. Anyways, the Hubbub is a good place to go and if you want to stay out of the craziness in and around Trafalgar, I know a great apartment that is affordable but with a killer view.

— nice, small, cozy location on the Isle of Dogs(a little bit hidden in a backyard) — on a sunny day it is great to sit outside and enjoy the peace around — friendly staff(in the afternoon: self service outside) — we did not have food, only beer and softdrinks in the afternoon If we come back to the Isle of Dogs we will also try the food there!

There’s a verrrrrry chilled out vibe at this funky place seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Actually it’s on Westferry Road on the Isle of Dogs. It’s smack in the middle of Millwall country, but you wouldn’t know it while sitting on the comfortable couch enjoying a drink or coffee. This converted church also has a great performance space downstairs called«The Space,» in the chapel below. They have a decent selection of liquor and beer. As a bonus, they offer fast, free wifi. The best part about being here is the good music, the good vibe, and the fact that while being very relaxing, it’s not boring.

It’s particularly tough to find a nice little café on the Isle Of Dogs now that the one at Mudchute Farm has shut down(boo!). So we tried this place instead as a recent Sunday brunch family outing. And were very impressed. The menu leans towards stodgy/rich — ie eggs florentine, big breakfasts, toasted foccacias. For us veggies, about the only thing that you could possibly describe as «healthy» was the falafel wrap. Although that was the weak point of our meal. If you’re up for a fry up/something hearty though, this is hard to beat. The food was excellent — tasty, fresh, plentiful. The prices were good too. And the lovely upstairs space and downstairs garden seating were both characterful, relaxing and pretty to be in. In all, excellent Sunday brunch/hangover eating material. Only other caveat? At least the men’s toilets were absolutely tiny!

A great little cosy café in a historic building amidst the social and architectural desolation of the Docklands. Excellent coffee and full cooked breakfasts. A really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A total surprise in such a soulless area.

Great little bar /café in an area that is pretty devoid of interesting places to visit. We enjoyed some very tasty Sunday brunch in a small courtyard at the side of the building; inside and upstairs is a snug little café /bar, complete with Sunday papers. The food(full English /eggs benedict /scrambled egg & smoked salmon) was delicious and prices were decent(£6 or so for each well-filled plate). Seems like it would be a good place to go for a drink in the evening too. I wouldn’t travel across London specifically to drink here, but if I was in the area — it’s definitely the best place to go.

Living in the Docklands area temporarily, I had pretty much resigned myself to the idea that there was absolutely nothing cultural or exciting to do when it comes to nightlife in the area. All I had seen were some really run down local pubs, or the swanky chain bars in Canary Wharf, where all the penguins go to wind down after a day working with the nations figures. That is, until I found Hubbub. Hubbub is a small bar located upstairs in an interesting building(formally a chapel) on Westferry Road. The building also houses an arts centre(The Space), which puts on music and live performance events. Why had I not seen this place before! The bar is cosy and inviting with comfortable chairs and sofas, contemporary art on the walls, a good selection of wines, coffees and cocktails as well as food. There are no real ales on pump(some in bottles) but the usual choice of Guinness, Kronenbourg and Fosters are on tap. I’m still not a fan of Docklands, but when I’m in need of somewhere local to go for a relaxing drink in a cool and cultural venue, in this otherwise rather dull and dead area of London, then Hubbub comes up trumps.

Hubub is your friendly neighborhood alternative to a loud pub. This laid back and ultra chill eatery and bar is a bookworm’s delight! There are tables to eat at and a large coach to chill out on. The lights are slightly dimmed and the classic oldies background music makes you feel as though you are in a small town rather than Zone 2 of London. There’s a brunch menu with features typical omelets and also a hearty dinner menu that has stews and stake. The staff is friendly and there’s free wifi! Outside there are picnic table that go into use during warmer weather and upstairs on the top floor, there is a dance studio along with various exhibitions. The only drawback is that the sign out front is a little too small and hard to spot!
