Well… Its not like I had amazing expectations. Who can after years of sexism advertising associated with this place. But anyway times were skint and I went in. Suprised as I found sustainable caught frozen fish. m Iceland not known for their ethics… Tesco usually fails in there stock of ethically produced food. don’t expect fair trade or gluten free… Iceland is full of what I like to call 90s food… high sugar, pre made, ready meals. They have a limited veg selection and I took advantage of frozen spinach and beans, frozen fish and got some essentials. The stock is limited but you can get your cleaning and junk food essentials The staff were so rude. I was at the till and they ignored me and chatted to each other the whole way through. Unbelievable! Completely as I expected, unfortunately

This Iceland is certified, if your from Brixton you know that this is the family store, that’s exactly why it never got touched during the riots

I have to give credit where credit is due, granted I am not a fan of frozen food but… and there is a butt, we all need a bag of frozen petit pois and I do find that the cleaning product are more reasonable priced than in bigger supermarkets. However the pièce de résistance is bog roll for smashing price of 4 rolls for a pound! It brings new meaning to the term ‘price rollback.’

OK, you probably don’t need a review of Iceland, but there’s a secret. More on that later. Why is it called Iceland? At one time, everything was frozen. Therefore it lasted forever-ish, and eased their planning. Then they stopped doing that, but it was still called Iceland. Cheap, often best avoided. BUT There’s a secret. It’s all about the beer. You can typically get a couple of decent ales by the bottle here for about £1 a bottle. Big Bulmer’s 1 litre bottles for £1.50. The wine’s crap-ola-tastic, but the beer– the beer’s cheaper even than Lidl. And better. So yes, I have to admit, I’ve been to Iceland. I can’t remember why I first visited, but if you’re fed up with paying pub prices for ale at home… head to our local Iceland, give a mum with seventeen screaming kids a glare, and stock up on beer.

The Iceland situated just next to Brixton Tube Station can be a very busy one at times. I have wandered past there a few times and had to go inside and always find a lot of people in the store. The store is bigger than other Icelands’s in the area and they do have a lot of stock. The location is quite convenient and you will always see people going inside and coming out. They do not have furniture in that store, so expect only a lot of aisles with frozen stuff. I do like that they are just in front of a bus stop so you do not need to carry your bags very far. Oh, the staff seems to be a lot friendlier than in other Iceland stores and security is a bit tight.
