Lovely little pub in Bethnal Green that’s far enough away from the crowds to ensure you have a good chance of a seat, and also close enough for there to be a buzz. We stopped in for a catchup with friends, and all of us really liked it. There’s an interesting selection of local ales and beer, the staff are happy to give recommendations and talk you through the drinks, and there’s ample seating throughout the pub. Would happily go back!

Forget any reviews written before February 2014. This place has changed utterly, and for the better. No longer a «traditional east end boozer», it now specialises in craft and local beers in a cool stripped wood bar. The huge windows really show the place off well. About 15 draught beers all carefully chosen(incl my favourite Camden Hells) sre available from friendly staff. It has not been discovered yet so the chance of getting a table is high. But hurry it won’t be long till the crowds discover it. No kitchen but cold food available, including a good scotch egg.

Ein sehr nettes Pub. Mit etwa 15(hauptsächlich lokalen) Biersorten. Liegt mitten in Bethnal Green. Das Publikum ist also sehr bunt. Viele Studenten und Kreative.

It’s just a great local East End pub.(Well, not really proper East End, it’s just up from Brick Lane, but still…) It’s cheap and usually pretty quiet, with locals and bar staff up for a bit of banter /pool table challenge. Don’t come here if you want a trendy Shoreditch experience, or even if you think it’s a bit ironic to go slum it in a ‘real pub’. Just come for the booze and the sport on the telly. Awesome.

Classic pub this! And not just in a «ooh, savour the real-ness, the ‘unchanged for years’ness, the locals, the banter etc» and all that jazz. This is just a quality pub. It hasn’t had a refurbishment, because it hasn’t needed one. There’s benches and tables around the walls, the bar’s 4 sided plonked in the middle. They have a darts board and screens up when there’s sports playing. And even though we clearly weren’t regulars, no-one told us off, or where to go, or made any nasty comments. They have cockles in a little dish on the bar. And I’d never even tried cockles before. And they’re amazing, the finest compliment to a good pint of ale… ever! Well, they wipe the floor with ur hairy pork scratchings any day. Nope, absolutely nothing to complain about with this one. Prices good, service friendly. This isn’t anything like you West End bars with fancy tapas menus, ’cause this is the real thing.
