I went to Continental Stores today but it was empty. It seemed to have been used as a temporary art gallery, but now all you can see is empty shelving. So sad to see the end of a local institution. The bookshop didn’t know what had happened. Does anyone have any news?

This place is a proper old school deli: everything’s behind counters and the shop guy is wearing a white jacket over his clothes, and makes little grunts as he climbs a step to get the pasta off the top shelf. If you’re not excited already then you don’t deserve to shop here…
It has all the usual stuff: tonnes of pasta, awesome biscuits, esoteric cheeses, and all the pasta sauce you can carry. I bought a box of rigatoni and a jar of amatriciana for £3.75 which is pretty bloody cheap.
Basically I have nothing bad to say about it. Go!

This is a lovely traditional shop selling specialist Italian food in the tradition of this area, which was once something of an Italian enclave. Meats cakes coffee and all sorts of delights are here. Good for unusual food gifts.

Very cute Italian specialty shop. I bought a loaf of bread, a huge hunk of provolone cheese, and a salami all for under £5. They have a lot of Italian imports so if you’re cooking, definitely try here instead of Tesco across the street.

One of the best Italian delicatessens in London. And *cheap!* Fresh pasta. All manner of jars of antipasti (3 kg jars of artichoke hearts for £15). Slabs of Italian cheeses and cured meats. Fantastic sandwiches. And always friendly service. Don’t let the 60s décor put you off. This place is awesome!

This is a great place to get genuine italian meats, which I suspect has had a drop off in trade since tesco opened virtually opposite. Also good for ‘sick biscuits’ aka sponge fingers aka savoiardi biscuits, in case of tiramisu cravings. Varieties of cheese and panettone also available.
