A do like a place that is well put together and give you the fell that it’s an age old family run restaurant, even if it’s not. Imaginings of mama’s 100 years old marinara sauce, seafood risotto passed down though the generations… La Cucina most definitely has this feel. So why have I only given them three stars? Reason being contrary to the review of my fellow Unilocaler, I don’t think the food was fantastic. My green beans were over cooked and I felt that all the veg tasted the same due to the overwhelming amount of butter used in it preparation. However the fish was beautifully cook and a very generous sized fillet. I would 102% go again, and would recommend it too. The wine was stunning and I was impressed that the older gentleman owner type, was able to select a lovely drop when I asked him for a wine of his choice that would go well with my fish. I don’t remember the total bill but I remember think that a bit expensive for two mains and two drinks. All in all a pleasant experience.

Friendly family run type restaurant in the heart of Farringdon. Having been visiting for some time the owners recognise me and always say hello. It makes a difference and I like the personal touch. Set menu covers the basics but I prefer to go for the seafood linguine or when feeling particularly hungry the veal a la Milanese. Delicious.

Holy balls. Yes. Unpretentious Italian, the best kind of Italian(yes, even better than cheap/free Italian). WHITEBAIT, calf’s liver, pappardelle bolognese, everything… just get it. Order one of each. And then get somebody to push you home in a shopping cart. That’s how I like to eat, like a stupid child with no stop function. Even the wrapped up breadsticks were surprisingly tasty, as tasty as preservative blasted cardboard products could be. No I’m being serious!!!

Authentic, delicious Italian. When I order claim linguine the sauce is usually overly thick. Not here– absolute perfection. The quality of the food is great, and atmosphere wonderful for good conversation with a friend or date. I will definitely be back!

Second visit there for lunch. Always packed out which is a good sign. The owner and his staff are immensely friendly as they run around the restaurant looking after customers. We only had one bottle of house red — a Sangiovese which was very pleasant. The main course, a spaghetti dish was absolutely fantastic and reminded me of my favourite Italian restaurant in Australia. With mains around £10-£12, it is a pretty good deal all round.
