Ladywell Tavern

There is a lot of space inside. There’s also a private outdoor smoking area. TV as well. Staff is nice and lots of beer and cocktails to choose from.

Awesome little bar.
Since reopening his venue after the roadworks, the food is better then ever and his beer range has really increased!
A bit too expensive now, but still a wonderful venue with live music. Keep it up

Great pub with a fine selection of well-​kept ales. There was live music playing the night I went but it was not obtrusive and my friends and I were able to hold a conversation without cause to raise our voices. Friendly staff too.

Well Ladywell is sort of down the nice end of Lewisham, seconds away from the town centre. Just off the main road is this little pub.
The Ladywell Tavern is an award winning pub. It proudly displays on its A-​board outside ‘Pub of the Year Lewisham 2011′. It seems to have a lot going on with bands and comedy a regular feature.
I popped in here after hearing the hype. I cant say I was enamoured with the place.
It has mis-​matched, creaky, dusty old furniture and and going for that old man pub feel. Lots of old books and boardgames inhabit the shelves.
There is an average selection behind the bar, but the prices are high for the area, considering the closest competition is the very competitive Fox and Firkin and a spoons.
There is a garden space and an ok selection of food. I suppose if you want a no frills quiet drink with a friend this is the place to be, but don’t expect anything spectacular.
So it gets two stars, not because its bad, but because I felt ‘Meh. I’ve experienced better’ really summed it all up.

I’m not from London, but I’ve been working nearby for a week, so I’ve popped into the Ladywell Tavern a couple of times. I loved the atmosphere: slightly quirky, resident dog milling around, lovely smell from the fire burning in the grate. I enjoyed a couple of pints there on my first visit. There was live acoustic music, too, although not many people there to enjoy it. On my second visit, it was burger night, so my friend and I ate. It was a fiver (2 for £10, strictly speaking) for a 10oz hamburger made from fresh British beef and cooked to order. Delicious. Served with salad, chips (gorgeously crispy) and a garlic dip, all served on a big platter. Chips were £1 extra, cheese 50p, so all in all, it cost us £13 for two huge, tasty home-​cooked meals. We stayed for a few drinks, and the atmosphere was lively but not overbearing; people were obviously enjoying themselves, but it was a good crowd and not rowdy. The piano and guitar (next to the dog’s bed) with the sign PLEASE PLAY! were a nice touch.

The Ladywell Tavern is a decent boozer in an area severely lacking in them. It’s large enough to fit in lots of customers but not so large that it loses any atmosphere in teh process. The bar has a fairly decent selection of lagers and ales, not just the regulars. We went there for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and I had a slow cooked piece of pork belly with veg. The portion size was great and it all tasted delicious and seemed fresh. They have a quiz night on Tuesday’s which is sometimes packed out and sometimes as quiet as the grave.
Well worth a look if you live in the area and fancy a pint.

Good local, a bit upmarket, good food. Lots of families on Sunday afternoons.

I went here expecting great things; it has recently been renovated and updated, and rumorus were abound that they’d got a decent chef in. All I can say is that it must have been his day off when I visited (Sunday lunchtime).
We ordered two club sandwiches and a chicken sandwich for my son, having got the guy to note he was a child and therefore could he have a smaller size meal. all seemed to be fine. Then the food arrived — it was like something a really really hungover man makes for himself without turning the light on. The chicken in my club sandwich was roasted and then FRIED to warm it up. ICK. The bread itself was about half a loaf thick. They had forgotten to make the sandwich smaller for my son so he struggled with a huge doorstep of bread. Thebacon was really greasy. All in all, not an impressive lunch. Perhaps the renowned chef doesn’t work there on sunday lunchtimes, but the management really shouldn’t let the dishwasher boy make the food.

Recently renovated from an old boozer the Ladywell Tavern is a spacious pub located close to Ladywell Station.
The Tavern is clearly trying to attract an upmarket clientel and seems to be succeeding in it’s efforts.
Whilst I’ve yet to try I have heard very positive things about the food availiable in this pub. One commendable feature is the addition of Addlestone’s cider which is always a definite winner (in moderation) on a good night out.
Definitely one of the best pints of cider in the area, a good varied selection of music is always on the stereo. A definite stop for a night out if passing through Ladywell.
