Had a really nice dinner here, with friendly service and a small cozy dining room. The owners helped us choose our dishes, telling us what was fresh and available, and helped us pick a wine. We had the octopus, lamb, ox cheeks, pimientos de padrón and garlic shrimp. They brought everything out pretty much at once, which wasn’t super convenient but that’s how they were fired in the kitchen. The best were the octopus and lamb, which had a nice sauce. The bread and olive oil at the beginning wee really nice. The portions were pretty fair and you could tell the quality was good. Bonus points for having one house cat, and two cats loitering on the tables outside.

I went to this restaurant a couple of months ago and forgot to write a review. By far one of the best little restaurants in Hackney. The food was superb in a very simple friendly restaurant. I’m not a big foodie but my partner is and she ordered a selection of food that was all really amazing. I couldn’t find a fault with anything and will definitely be going here on a regular basis. I regret not making a note of the wine we ordered but it was a very tasty red for a good price. The setting is very intimate although they were pretty busy when we were there and all the tables were full. I don’t think you can book but we just waited for a table at The Royal Oak for 40 mins.

Put it this way, I went here last night for dinner for some decent Tapas after returning from a trip to Spain! The only thing that will drive you nuts about this place is what the hell to order because its all so good… my partner is fairly fussy when it comes to food and this morning he is still talking about how good it was. Its an easy evening out, it isn’t cheap but why should it be its really good food! It won’t break the bank and as long as your in good company, it should be a good night.

This place is amazing! Staying nearby at an airbnb and my lovely host recommended it. We got there late one night and they were about an hour away from closing, so I was grateful that we just got in. We had a light bit of food, the broad beans and manchego(amazing party in my mouth), the croquettes con jamon, some lovely wine, and two desserts. The value was nice, the service was courteous and prompt, and my tastebuds and tummy were happy. One of the best places I ate in London while I was visiting.

AMAZINGFOOD for great prices. Dessert was sooo good too. Recommendations: Sangria, BBQ Sardines, Sauteed Baby Squid with Chorizo, , Pisto: roasted vegetables with fried egg. Homemade cheesecake, topped with homemade apricot jam and the dessert croquettes(Croquetas Dulces de Chocolate) Cons: skip the Presa Iberico — BBQ Iberico Shoulder of Pork… It was tender but I’ve had better.

On food alone I would give it 3 stars, but ambience and the staff push it up to 4! Thee is a good selection of meat and fish tapas dishes, but think they do with a wider selection of vegetarian dishes. I particularly recommend the adobo(white fish in batter with aioli!) and the sardines — super delicious! If you have room for dessert at the end, try the croquetas dulces de chocolate — mini donuts filled with chocolate!

Been to this cute little tapas restaurant twice and both times our taste buds were blissed out. When ordering we asked for specialities of the house so got to try delicacies we may not have picked out by ourselves. The ‘pimientos de padron’(little Spanish bell peppers), octopus with paprika, beans con manchego and the chorizo are particularly memorable. The seafood paella was perfect, the cava crisp and dry but make sure you leave room for crema catalana. There’s a very good choice of liquors too if you enjoy a digestivo.

Lovely meal I’ve had every time I’ve visited! Home made, genuine Spanish tapas in a cosy little restaurant which is clean and pleasantly decorated in a lovely street. Some good wines on the menu and great variety of both meat and fish. Great people running the place! Make u feel at home!

Lovely but tiny tapas bar you should book. Perfect with a Sunday visit to the market. Best to come with friends so you can sample the menu widely. The barbecue fish and meats are our pick but you cannot really go wrong. It gets busy but the staff are friendly and helpful. A table on the pavement outside on a summer evening with rioja flowing just lovely.

I’ve had many an evening — and birthday — with friends here. Definitely one of my five favourite places to eat in London. I always want the whole menu, but to tackle more than three dishes is rather greedy. And I absolutely have to have the broad beans with manchego in a saffron sauce, so that only leaves me two other options(which become three, because I can’t help it). I love the white chorizo, and the chorizo in red wine. And the barbecued fish dishes. And the house Rioja(‘oh just one more bottle then, go on…). Service is really friendly and frantic, and they have the most gorgeous, luxuriant white cat that has the run of the place. The only thing that’s slightly annoying is that you can only choose from the early sitting, around 7ish, or the 9.15 sitting, which is a bit late. But a few drinks in the Nelson’s before make for a perfect evening.

Dishes seemed surprisingly expensive… Probably £7−8 per tapas plate? Plus £2 for bread! Portions were very generous though, so that made it more worthwhile. Spinach crêpe was good, but had a goat-like cheese. Potato tortilla was pretty typical. White chorizo was delicious. All in all, not too bad for going into the first restaurant with seating available on a Columbia Road Flower Market Sunday.

Unlike other reviewers, I took a star I was going to give this restaurant away because of their rude and unprofessional staff. Seriously if our sour-puss waitress rolled her eyes at us one more time(um, for being 2 people and not 4 and for gee, ordering food) it would have been difficult to keep my cool. Even the woman whom I would take as the matron of the establishment was far from polite when«asking»(more like demanding) us to move to the other 2 seats on the table so they could seat 2 other guests. Yes I get it, you want to make sure you can fit in as many bodies as possible during your busy Sunday and us moving over makes sense in your mind… however it’s quite possible and should be expected to request this of your patrons without being downright nasty about it especially when your patrons are not giving you attitude too(a simple, would you please mind sitting at the other two seats would have been soooo fine). I think I’ll try to go again on a not so busy day(can’t imagine them being so packed except for Sundays) since the food was actually quite good. It’s a shame, I’d like to rate it better because I did quite enjoy my tapas(peppercorn sauce steak is phenomenal) but unfortunately food alone does not a dining out experience make. Hopefully the next time will be a happier occasion!

We wandered in here during the Columbia Road Flower Market(lovely, by the way). We ordered three«sandwiches». Or as they actually were, giant hamburger buns with either fried egg or two slabs of cheese thrown in. Maybe there are other nice things there, but I’m not going to risk it after this!

Lovely little Spanish/tapas restaurant on Columbia Road. It’s small, warmly decorated and a great place for a convivial dinner with family, friends, and loved ones. When you can fill your table with tiny plates of food and pitchers of sangria, how can you not enjoy your dining experience? We had a delicious paella for 2 — way more than enough for two people — but that’s probably because we started with garlic mushrooms, a spinach and cheese crêpe, a white bean salad with cheese and tomatoes, fresh seasonal asparagus, and an iberian pork shoulder. Don’t worry, there were 5 of us, and everything was delicious. Best of all, the people were so friendly — we were starving and really loved the look of the place, but every table was reserved. They ended up shifting around some tables and putting some outside and squeezing us in. So kind of them! The crema catalana was delicious and rich, and the fresh coffee ice cream had shades of hazelnut. They were out of the homemade rice pudding, so I will have to return. You can entice me anywhere with promises of pudding.

In fact, a sunny Sunday ramble through the Columbia Road Flower Market with pit stop at this phenomenal Spanish restaurant is one of my favourite ways to spend some time with friends. Lunch( ) here is a treat! I love the grilled sardines, the boquerones and pretty much everything I’ve had on the menu here … especially when washed down with a jug of sangria with some good company. Thinking about it, I haven’t been back to Laxeiro in quite some time. YIKES! With sunny days and springtime here, I gotta get back soon!

It’s always nice to stop off for some tapas after a trip to Columbia Road flower market on a Sunday(if you can get a seat!). It’s also open during the week, for those who can reach it. It’s just about walkable from Shoreditch in an extended lunch hour. A favourite dish of mine is Pimientos de Padron. Take a gamble on these little green peppers fried in salt one in a handful will pack a punch. But it’s a game of Spanish roulette I love to play. Wash everything down with a glass(or bottle!) of white rioja. I dropped in with my sister recently to celebrate my birthday and we had a very pleasant lunch. I’m sure I’ll be back again before too long.

A fixture in Columbia Road for years now — this place is small and quaint and serves primarily spanish«tapas». The décor is tiled and spanish like and the family run business is friendly and nice. I love a bit of Sangria even in the winter and always order a pitcher with great hopes — but somehow always feel a little let down on the sangria side of things — maybe too much juice or oranges but it never feels heady or heavy enough – The food too I keep going back to because I think I like the idea of «tapas».Good chorizo is amazing — and once again I feel a bit let down– it feels like it could be better … Of course the simpler solution is to put more wine in the sangria !! I m sure not to be disappointed again !!

This is a wonderful, great-value, Spanish-run Tapas bar in Columbia Road, Hackney. Go when the flower market is closed! It’s small, so a good idea to book. On arriving, you may think what sort of place is this?, since it looks a bit down at heel. Don’t worry, since the food and service are brilliant. The food is chalked up on a board, and changes with availability of ingredients. That has to be a good thing. It can get noisy, but in a sociable way, just like in Seville. Give it a try. You’ll love it — and be amazed at the tiny amount on the bill.
