L’Estaminet is the hotel restaurant of the enclosing Hotel Ibis, so this review also touches on the hotel breakfast as well as the dinner they serve. In short: The surroundings are dull and too well lit in the evening for any romance to emerge. Just fine when you are travelling with ten collegues, as I was, but for a pair … A dimmer knob would be nice. The food was at best ok. The burger seemed fine, the Boef Bourguignon a bit boring, and the deep fried camembert was terrible. Absolutely pointless. The breakfast in the morning gets a big meeeh from me. The bacon was chooey, the English sausage so-so, you had to line up for sub-par coffee, and I ended up resorting to cereals for the rest of the stay. My tip: dont’ pay for breakfast and head to a nice little café instead. The service from the mostly foreign staff was good, and they did their best, but they could not rectify all the other shortcomings.
