LondonSkate MAKESOMENOISE!!! Of the many and varied things you could choose to do in London, most people would think you were completely crazy to strap wheels to your feet and roll around the streets of London in and amongst all the traffic, but if you try it, you might just find you are unable to stop. If you thought Unilocal events were a good way to make friends in London, you’ll love the London Skate. It runs every Wednesday evening at 8pm between April and September, and lasts about 2 hours. Hundreds of skaters gather together by the bandstand in Hyde Park(closest tube Hyde Park Corner) and skate a different route each week, with half time stops in various parts of London. And its’ AMAZING. There is no better way to see the sights of London than on inline skates. The marshals do an excellent job of protecting skaters from traffic, and the whole thing has a very slick feel to it. If you can’t make Wednesdays, there’s the London Friday Night Skate that runs all year round starting at Hyde Park Corner at 8pm on Fridays, and if you’re relatively new to skating and have managed to learn to stop and turn, there’s the more beginner-friendly hangover cure that is the Sunday Stroll, again all year round, starting at 2pm from the Hyde Park Corner entrance of Hyde Park. It’s free and fun, and sure beats going to the pub and piling on the calories(though you can join everyone for some well-earned calories after the skate if you still miss the pub element)…
