What you’re paying for is the location in the heart of Chelsea. Pretty outdoor dining/drinks in the Chelsea marketplace(oh… so THAT’S how they got their name…). A cocktail will set you back at least £8.50, and I would not say that they are the carefully crafted works of art that you’d get at Nightjar or the like, but admittedly, that is just from looking, not tasting. My friends and I had their burger, soup(tomato), and some bruchetta. I liked the bruchetta a lot, and the soup was edible, but certainly nothing special. Expensive, quite frankly, for what it is(the soup, I mean). The burger looked good, but my friends also said it was good but nothing special. Basically, I had soup(which came with some bread), shared a side of chips, and shared an order of bruchetta(one small piece), and my portion of the total came out to about £10(with discount which will be mentioned shortly). Not horrible for the area, but… yea. The waiter’s English was a bit rough and we got confused and the order got rather screwed up… He didn’t seem so keen on appeasing us, but the manager came over and sorted us all out, got us the correct order, and gave us a generous discount on our bill. This probably would have been a 2 or more likely 1-star review if he hadn’t done that, so thanks Manager. All in all, come here if you are in the area, tired from shopping or whatever, and need a place to grab a quick bite or drink(be aware, they stop serving food early, around 6:00pm) with pretty outdoor picnic tables, cosy blankets, and heating lamps. The food is 2-star, but the setting bumps it up one. Bottom line: Nice ambiance, but not a foodie destination.

Is there anything better to soak up the … um, rain… than a big, fresh and delicious full English breakfast? Methinks not. I’ve been past the Chelsea«Farmers’ Market»(which is another review in itself as it is neither a farm nor a market, but rather a posh square with about 10 boutique shops and restaurants… strange) and practically twisted my neck completely off when peering jealously at the piles of delicious British food atop people’s plates. Sitting in the large outdoor garden, they were forking and knifing and smiling and stuffing and laughing and chattering on about their big plans to moochie-pooch about King’s Road while I was crying on the inside. Each time I came by, the queue went around the entire market and my tummy waits for nothing. Cue the rain of November 1st. It’s 10am, I’m wet and cold and starving and barely hanging on… when I remembered that this little gem was just around the corner. Trading the garden for the intimate indoor country kitchen, I was able to soak up the deliciousness in the company of only a few other guests. Their bread and butter is the 120 person outdoor garden seating area, so with the humble 30 indoor seats as all they could work with today, I was treated like royalty! The food? Fabulous. Fresh and traditional, I scarfed down the fluffy scrambled eggs embarrassingly fast, and was still drooling when I watched another table be served. The breakfast options are limited to British faves like eggs on toast, full English, bacon sausage sandwich… you get the idea. They also have a killer array of freshly squeezed juices. While most people flock when the weather is nice, catch them on a slow lazy Sunday morning. You won’t regret it!
