A deceptively spacious pub with a large garden in the back, as well as a non-​smoking decking for diners. A great place for drinks in small or large groups. however I don’t recommend the food.
The menu and the food itself looks great, but it was all so bland. For the prices you’re paying, I really do expect better. I went for Chicken & Leek pie with mash and gravy (around £10), and my boyfriend went for the fish and chips (just under £12). We were both disappointed. everything lacked seasoning.
I would go back here for drinks though, as it really is a lovely pub, and the staff are very friendly!

Nice pub, except when the rugby or football is on. Nice staff and atmosphere generally. A good spot after a days filming.

Very solid gastropub in Barnes, with the clientele and prices to match. The food ranges from good to excellent here, depending on your choice. I’d recommend the pies in the winter.
Big old terrace and garden for the summer — not too far from the river either. An ideal spot to quench your thirst after a walk along the Thames or the Wetlands.

A very nice grown-​up pub. Huge traditionally decorated, quite grand feeling interior (dark, heavy curtains, leather sofas, big glass vase of lilies, gold framed mirrors). Large pub garden with smart outdoor furniture. Dogs allowed outside and there were some families with small children.
Excellent service both times I’ve visited. On one occasion the barman was extremely knowledgeable, charming and helpful when we were choosing wine.
An extensive menu of classy pub classics. I’ve only eaten here once, but my halloumi salad was really good — lots of thoughtful components giving depth of flavour and interesting textures. My dining companions were all happy too. The roast dinners looked wonderful.

A rather lovely Barnes pub with a very nice beer garden at the back. A good selection of beers on tap, plus a BBQ bar in the garden.
The food looked amazing as well. At one point I exclaimed «Cor, look at that.» My friend assumed I was referring to an attractive lady. I was actually getting excited about the delicious-​looking fish and chips the barman was carrying past our table. Well worth a walk out in Barnes direction.

This would be a great summer beer garden venue. The pub itself was clean and the service was good. The meals came out reasonably quick but weren’t mega raveable. My boyfriend and I both had the bacon and swiss cheese burger with handcut chips which sounded grand but was average in my opinion.

Another lovely barnes pub. The food is nice, if not a little over priced. A burger and chips is roughly £9.50, which i suppose for a pub in london (with the exception of whetherspoons) isnt a bad price. Beer is on the expensive side for somewhere out side of central london, with a pint of Guiness currently standing at £3.95 (Aug 2010)
But it is a nice pub, lots of outdoor space, patio heaters for the winter, nice staff and very few complaints!

Great little pub in Barnes. Our food was good, and everyone else’s looked good too. Lots of room and a massive outdoor area too.
Food is cut above ordinary pub, but not quite gastro pub. Well executed.

Great pub, great atmosphere, been here twice now, worth the walk from Putney. Would have given 5 stars only its a bit pricey.

I love this pub & have even taken a few first time ‘dates’ there! It is a traditional pub with open fires, fantastic food & great outside space in the summer or winter with outdor heaters. The staff are friendly & you get a mixture of people young & old, all in all a great place to spend some time :)

We were told that the Red Lion did one of the best Sunday lunches in Barnes, and we weren’t disappointed. While the starters were very tasty, they were pretty expensive, but were the perfect prelude to a beautiful main course. We both had lamb shank, more out of the fact that this was the only choice left when we arrived at 3pm (tip: get there early — it is very popular, particularly on sunny days) on a sunny September day than through choice alone. But even the last kid picked was delicious and served in a gut-​busting portion that would have left little breath for complaints even if we had had any. The only disappointment was the dessert — having loosened belts, etc. to fit it in, it was so obviously straight from the freezer and not at all befitting of the previous 2 courses. As it was completely unnecessary after the preceding main, I would suggest only ordering 2 courses if you ever come here. The cost for a whole Sunday lunch is about £25 a head — a touch on the expensive side considering, but the huge beer garden is very nice to relax in and the staff very friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t much fancy sitting inside (bog standard pub interior) but then I’m like that.
