A catalogue of errors: first, one of the beer taps was empty.(Put a sign or a covering over it?) Second, we weren’t asked how we wanted our burgers cooked. I queried this and was told, ‘It comes how it comes. We only do well burgers here. It is company policy.’(If you have a whole section of your menu dedicated to burgers, it’s clear you think this is an area of speciality for you, something in which you’re taking pride. Give customers the ability to tell you how they want it cooked — else, you’re McDonald’s. At the very least, indicate your ‘policy’ on your menus.) Third, the hand dryer in the ladies’ is temperamental at best, and just plain broken at worst.(We all walked out with wet hands.) Finally, the kids’ burger was an insult.(The patty was so tiny!) I’m really disappointed by this review, their efforts(lack thereof), their attitude(customer opinions are of no consequence), and the vibe. But, on a positive note, despite being overcooked, the burgers were rather tasty. That chef is winning despite your archaic and now, redundant, rules. The UK has changed its laws about cooking meat; it’s a shame that The Sun isn’t listening to the laws nor to their customers.

My burger was extremely dry, fries were barely warm, portions were ok. The pints were good. The bill was large.

Love this place. Never had a bad drink/food experience. They have a garden too. Music nights at the weekend. Your dog can come too!

A very comfortable, decent-sized pub with a large array of beers. Fosters is probably the only everywhere beer you’ll find here. The Sun keeps a couple of guest ales on at all times, but wisely knows to steer clear of more standard fare on its regular taps. The name of this pub is apt, as it seems a very pleasant place to visit during the nicer weather. I haven’t spent much time visiting pubs in Barnes, but I’ll certainly be back to see what else this pub has to offer.

This is a quaint little pub that a colleague took me to for a pint or two prior to Guy Fawkes bonfire & fireworks display in a nearby town. The place is unassuming and you’d never really think twice about popping in if you passed it every day, but once inside you’re glad you did. The space is large, but seems small based on the division of rooms and low ceilings. Lots of wood and warm lighting make for a cozy feeling of being at a neighborhood pub where locals go, which was a refreshing departure from all of the brewery-owned pubs of London filled with tourists & bankers. Beer selection was impressive, as they carry a multitude of draughts on tap and even greater selection by the bottle. I was surprised to see Sierra Nevada IPA and even Delirium Tremens in the beer fridge. During winter, they have spiced cider & mulled wine(or one of the two). There’s plenty of mouthwatering-looking food(i watched people eat, didn’t have a chance to do so myself). Bottom line: It’s a ways away from London proper, but if you happen to be in this neck of the woods, it’s well worth it to stop in to the Sun Inn for a pint & pack of crisps. It just feels nice to be there.

A big old pub in Barnes which straddles the divide between locals hangout and gastropub. The food is really rather good, and it’s a great place for a catch-up with friends. Very decent range of beers to be found here… just don’t try them all in one night!

I watched the Brazil-Mexico Olympic Soccer final here and had a ball(pun intended). Had a delicious vegetarian lunch of Asparagus, mushroom, pea and crème fraîche tart w/beetroot and new potato, washed down by a nice pint of Hoegaarden. Really enjoyed eavesdropping on the clever and thoroughly bourgeois conversation of the table next to me. Typical(in a good way) — of the well-educated English middle class. Made a huge change from LA! Lots of other good choices on the menu. Will definitely return next time I’m in London.

I hadn’t been to the Sun Inn for more than ten years, and it is comforting to note that some things don’t change. Barnes(why does the listing show up as Chiswick?) has a romantic villagey feel to it and the Sun is the first pub I have visited to offer its own souvenir post cards — I was almost tempted to send one back home! I felt quite decadent spending a relaxed Friday lunch here. The pub was very well frequented by a well heeled crowd. Numbers of dogs children and faces you’d recognise from TV increased as the afternoon progressed. Unfortunately, the number of staff behind the bar did not. The pub is lovely, just the right combination of traditional and gastro. The menu was quite predictable, food beautifully served and tasty.

The Sun Inn is one of those rare pubs that attempts to do a bit of everything and somehow succeeds. The menu(admittedly I didn’t try the food) is gastropub yet the bar itself is snug and cosy. There’s also an outside area I’d imagine would be good in the summer, plus a pub quiz on Mondays and board games. There’s a good range of ales and foreign lagers as well, and it’s the type of place I’d be happy to go again for a quick pint or spend several hours nattering away. Probably not the cheapest, but a throughly nice pub in a lovely area.

Nice pub opposite the village pond. The garden is a sun trap and gets very busy in the summer. Real ale on sale.

The Sun is awesome. And as for this pub… it’s also great! I can’t quite believe how many more beers they sell every time I go. Does that make sense? I mean, they sell so many beers, and seem to keep adding more to their list, it’s nearly unbelievable. There are real ales, fruit beers, European beers(including three of my favourites, Leffe, Duvel and Erdinger), a chocolate beer, three ciders on tap, endless shelves of bottles… and Burt’s crisps! Burt is very good at making crisps. What a wonderful bar snack. If it’s more then crisps you’re after, the menu aint half bad, either. Different burgers and sandwiches and salads are on offer as well as a couple of vegetarian offerings, the classic fish and chips, roast chicken and sausages as well… And as if that wasn’t enough, the atmosphere is great, there are little cosy alcoves in which to sit on a winter’s evening, and a great selection of board games to wile away a Sunday afternoon. 5 stars indeed. It’s right up my street. Literally.

Per Molly K’s suggestion, the bf and I went here for a Saturday lunch with her and her beau. I’d never been to Barnes, and it is quite the cute little place! Funnily enough it was a sunny day and the Sun Inn was easy to spot. The inside was decorated nicely and the menu looked yum yum in my tum tum. I’m always on the lookout for a good fish finger sandwich, and I scored one! They did have a BBQ menu, and but I’m not sure if it was going at the time. Oh well, I was thoroughly pleased with my sandwich and chips! I think they change their menu seasonally, so will definitely have to go back to sample other goodies! So great company, great food, and a great pub!

My first review on Unilocal UK! How I have missed Unilocal!Yay! Okay, enough beaming. This is my favourite pub in Barnes(my current area of residence) and I might venture to say my favourite in LONDON. Yes, that’s a lofty statement, but this is a great pub. They have good food, a great atmosphere, excellent music, fun games to play, and a wide and varied selection of beverages. While there may not be tons to do in Barnes, this pub is worth a visit. Easy to get to from Hammersmith and right across the street from an adorable pond with swans and ducks. You’ll definitely have a relaxing night out here as opposed to a rager.

My regular after tennis session haunt to counteract the benefit of exercising. 1 hour of tennis then 3 cigarettes and a couple of pint. Great little pub opposite the pond in Barnes and a great place to go in the summer. Nice outside area that is also well heated, so you can still sit outside most of the time apart from the sub zero evenings. Smallish in size it has two bar area’s and then a fair few tables to sit and chat or get some of the improving food. Probably the best pub in Barnes(certainly to my knowledge) it is always busy after work/early evening and also at the week-ends. There are not many reasons to go to Barnes, there isn’t great shopping it is a pain to get too and not a lot goes on here. But if you find yourself over that way it is certainly worth a visit.

The Sun Inn is a young trendy pub but attracts older people too. It is always busy especially in the summer when customers spill outside & are able to take their drinks across the road to sit by beautiful Barnes pond. It is a very popular pub with locals & has a very friendly happy atmosphere & lots of nice romantic cubby holes.

I know I get very excited about gastro-pubs that offer fruli on tap but I swear I like the Sun Inn for more than that reason alone. The staff are lovely; young, vibrant, creative and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and chilled and I love the nooks and crannies you are able to huddle away in which provides a certain level of privacy. The food is good and the menu is seasonal and ever changing. I love the pork belly in winter which is meant for two to share but my friend and I found it hard to finish as it was huge. The location itself is lovely and peaceful and overlooks the green. You can walk to Barnes Bridge train station in less than 5minutes or you can catch a bus from right outside to Barnes mainline station in the other direction. Should you run out of cash there is a Barclays conveniently located next door so you can use the cashpoint there. The staff are also more than happy to call you a cab should you get slightly sozzled on a Saturday night and not in a fit state to stagger anywhere(not that I would know)

Since I’m trying to incorporate the lingo, this pub is my local. How am I doing? I love that this pub is my local too because it’s a good one. Comfy cushions and couches inside, plenty of picnic tables and seating outside, large bar and a delicious menu. I’ve been in here a few times since we descended upon Barnes in August and it’s nice to have a reliable pub down the road. The lamb is excellent, and they have several good cider options. Of course, the prices are a bit. pricey. But you’re also paying for atmosphere, which I find hard to mimic anywhere else I’ve been. One criticism: they should buy some new board games! They have a Guess Who with tons of pieces missing, and one of my favorites, Cranium, in complete shambles! Nothing beats a night of drinks and board games, as long as the games are complete :) UPDATE!!! Went to the Sun for lunch today and they have ALLNEW board games. All you have to do is leave a deposit at the bar and they give you the pieces for the games(empty boxes are in the games basket). Was it something I said??? I wonder…

This is a nice, large pub in Barnes with an outdoor space at the back and the front with plenty of tables. Inside it’s got a bit of a rustic feel but also very much reflects the rather rich clients that ilve in the Barnes area. Food can be a bit hit and miss. I had a burger tonight but while the chips were nice, the meat itself was pretty dry. They have a wide range of beers including fruli & Aspell & Brothers Cider in bottles(more on tap)

The sun inn overlooks Barnes pond which feels like you could be in a small village, not just outside London. It’s very pretty and the pub is a cosy place to go for drinks, lunch or dinner. It has lots of real ales and Belgian beers on tap. They even have board games to keep you occupied(if you feel a bit of Jenga) or Fish and Chips with Champagne for a posh tea. It can get pretty busy at sunday lunch time so head there early, particularly in summer
