This restaurant is a picture of an identity crisis. Miso is a japanese term. The food is mostly chinese. The staff are rude. The girl who met us at the entrance seemed dazed. The manager, who took our order, agressively corrected my girlfriend because she asked for Char Sui soup but was pointing at Char Sui noodles on the menu. I mean agressively. I said ‘Origatou’ to the waitress at the end and she corrected me ‘I’m chinese’ in a tone that said ‘You Idiot’. My girlfriend is Chinese, so it’s not like I’m a racist. I didn’t leave a tip. But the food was ok. Malaysian Curry was good and my girlfriend’s Char Sui was reasonably good too. So 2 stars for the kitchen people. But seriously, there are far nicer asian restaurants within easy walking distance. Avoid.

Miso no… oh no, oh no, oh no. You know the emotion that is rarely properly expressed in words, but can be perfectly conveyed with a scrunched forehead, raised and curled eyebrows, pursed lips, pleading eyes, and a slow shaking of the head? That’s what I’m doing right now. Let’s just say that the last thing you want to do is bring a visiting co-worker from San Francisco to this«authentic Chinese noodle bar,» only to have his meal more closely resemble(looks and taste) spaghetti à la carbonara rather than prawn chilli men. Maybe it was just a, er… bad day? Yeah, that’s it… If you’re in the ‘hood, I’d keep it a miss on Miso.

If I could give 0 stars, I would without a doubt. Other than the service being extremely poor, I dont even know where to start: with waiters rolling eyes and not a single smile from the moment we walked in; all the waiters having their own lunch slurping soup loudly at the table next to us while having not even finished our order; the completely rubbish food which was excellent quality and value some years ago and has become preheated preprepared and maybe even from frozen; food thrown on the table by waters; chewing gum on the side of a tea mug; a vegetarian request which had chicken pieces fished out of it where one piece was left and more chicken crumbs were found in the curry sauce; all the noodles were overcooked, all the vegetables and sauces without flavour and bland. As a grand finale you should have seen the chefs attire. We paid for half the dishes but we shouldnt have. Reminded me of something from Gordon’s Kitchen Nightmares. Wont last very long but lets help this place close by keeping our money. AVOIDATALLCOSTS

The first time I tried Miso a couple of years ago I found it fresh, good value for money due to large portions and great for it’s wide range of dishes on offer. However on subsequent visits the quality of the food decreased and many of the dishes became greasy, salty and dry. They didn’t taste fresh and it was clear everything as just being heated up and served from the kitchen as opposed to being prepared fresh. I used to recommend it for it’s value, but since the quality of the dishes has changed so much I can no longer do this. There are lots of better take away/restaurant options for the price.

Their food feels like it isn’t fresh. It’s a sit-down restaurant serving take-away quality food. Been there once and won’t be going back, I’m afraid. High point was the Aloe Vera juice they had to drink. Service was decent, but food just wasn’t up to par. Greasy, oily, too salty. Sorry, won’t be going back.

Good service and generous portions but very greasy and sometimes very salty as well. The singapore noodles is their best dish in my view. Overall if you don’t mind the grease then it is worth a trip. around Angel there aren’t any great Chinese restaurants yet(that I know of!).

I was in Islington recently with some friends. We wanted something cheap and quick. What could be quicker than noodles! Miso did not disapoint. The service was quick and friendly. The menu simple and staightforward. But best of all the food was served quickly was piping hot and the portions were generous. I had squid and chilli sauce which was fab. The others noodles and prawns. Definately recommend for a fast meal in an unpretentious atmosphere. In short great food nice atmosphere great prices. Will def be going again.
