So glad I found a delicious Persian restaurant in London! The place is relatively small(from an American perspective), but they are very big on service and flavor. It seems like a lot of locals/regulars go there since the serves knew almost everyone by name. The chicken kabob and koobideh were delicious and you obviously need to get the mast moosir with it. Love that they bake fresh bread! Ps. They sell doogh and if you haven’t tried it already, you need to!

Had a nice dinner here with friends on a recent trip to London. Owner /operators were very cordial and accommodating with our group We ordered a wide selection of dips and naan to start, and they were all excellent. Their grilled naan was perfectly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside… a great«vehicle» to eat the tasty dips. The appetizers were followed by several main dishes… the best of which was the skewered grilled chicken served with rice. A fun night was had by all, but remember to bring CASH as they do not take credit cards.

This is my favourite Persian place in the entire world… yes the WORLD. I travel alot for work and have sampled the persian cuisine on many continents.(Disclaimer: never actually in the middle east but none the less). This is by far the best and it happens to be within walking distance of my house! Yay for me. The food is very fresh and the service is wonderful. I’ve sampled many of the offerings here, and it’s hard to choose what I think is best. The chicken kabobs are soft, tender and juicy. The stews are flavourful yet not overbearing. The bread cooked fresh and plentiful. Basically you can’t go wrong at this place. My only gripe about this place is that it is cash only, which I always seem to forget. FYI There is a cash point at the Tesco down the road on Cromwell so make sure to stop by there on the way. Whether I am down the road or across the globe, whenever I am craving Persian food this is the place that comes to mind.

This is a great restaurant. I’m a fan. A beautiful selection of kebabs, bread and dip. The Naan bread is thin and sesame seed coated. Perfect with the shallot blended dip. Kebabs are cooked fresh and served with a grilled tomato and either rice or bread. The rice is beautiful — not dry at all. I have tried the minced lamb and diced lamb kebabs — for my tastes the minced one is better — but only down to preference. It’s not spicy, just perfectly cooked. Staff were friendly on my visit — a very broad customer range — really nice to see. I was served quickly and the lady waiting on me was very attentive. I had bread, dip, double skewers of meat, rice and tomato. With a coke and water — all came to £21 — I couldn’t finish it. Portions are generous. Will happily return.

The place didn’t set a great experience I was hopping to get from my first trip to London. I’m a vegetarian & I understand the place wasn’t the best where I could find good choices, but what ruined the experience was the service attitude.

First time trying Persian/Iranian food and it was amazing. Fresh naan made on the spot. Appetizers portion is quite small but delicious nonetheless. Overall, great ambiance, food and service. Cash only.

Went here for dinner tonight because of the excellent Unilocal reviews and I’m happy to report that all the stars are well deserved. It is a small, family owned restaurant. Great service here and they make you feel welcome. The mom even came to our table to say hi and ask how our meals were. The food is more than fairly priced compared to all the other restaurants here in London. The Persian food served here is authentic and wonderful. It’s like going to your Persian buddy’s family dinner. They make fresh naan in the front of the restaurant to order and it is wonderful with the hummus. I had the bone in chicken and my husband ordered lamb stew. So delicious. Will definitely come back here again. Oh, remember to bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards.

Amazing little find. I have had many a persian kebab but I find mohsen’s are to a very high standard. Juicy and succulent, you can’t go wrong with their kebab koubideh served with rice and fresh bread from the tanoor oven.

A must visit place if you are London. This is a comfortable authentic place to eat, so if you are looking for fancy its not your thing. But if you want first rate food do not hesitate. Some of the best Persian food we have eaten(including home made food). The selection is very nice, and there are range of dishes. Don’t worry if you are not familiar with the cuisine, it has very subtle and wonderful flavors and a large variety to choose from. Do not forget to try the appetizers. Beware they do not credit card, come prepared with cash. And it is in a location that may seem incorrect, but very visible once you get there.

If you are Iranian this is probably a good place. Being from the states, the anti American conversation left me flat. One of the specialties was not available and the suggested replacement was awful.

This was my first real meal in London. So happy with it. We came in late at night and the staff stayed open a bit later for us which was really nice. The food was so amazing! Im drooling and getting sad wishing I was still near by. Everything from the lamb, chicken and rice were so flavorful it was so comforting. It seemed to be like a local spot too which was cool.

Outstanding Persian Food by Delightful Family I come from a Persian family with a long tradition of discriminating taste when it comes to authentic Persian food. It was dinner time when we were exploring Kensington. Looking online for a place with GOODFOOD brought us to this little family run restaurant. As I always do with Persian food, I came to the restaurant a bit uncertain about all the accolades by the reviewers. But the restaurant lived up to its reputation and then some. Starting with Tahdig(rice crust) drenched with yummy Ghormeh Sabzi(aromatic mixed herb stew), I followed with their special lamb dish consisting of a skewer of tender, marinated lamb fillet kabobs and a skewer of minced lamb kabob over aromatic basmati rice. I washed down the delicious food with their homemade, thick and sharp Dough(yogurt drink, which requires an acquired taste) and finished with two cups of fresh brewed Persian tea. A perfectly satisfying authentic Persian dinner! My partner opted for the Soltani kabob, which includes a flattened version of the lamb chunks, equally tender and tasty. Despite the excellent food, the intimate atmosphere, and the fantastic fresh flat bread, we were most enchanted by the delightful family that runs the restaurant. Most of all, we loved the gregarious and ever cheerful mom who clearly is the matriarch in charge. We will definitely come back again and will recommend Mohsen Restaurant to everyone we know.

This is an incredible place! I went here on a recent trip through the area and as other reviewers have said, it’s easily one of the best, most reasonably priced, most authentic Iranian/Persian restaurants I’ve ever visited. The décor is relatively unremarkable. The service was attentive, yet not overbearing… and, my goodness, was the food ever excellent! The spice levels were perfect, the meat was all very high quality, tender, and succulent, and the starters were outstanding. Everything brought to our table was truly exceptional… all the way to the flatbread prepared and cooked in the front window for all to see. To reinforce though, this place is ALL about the food. Great for a meal with a friend or colleague, but probably not the place for a romantic first date. I was there with a colleague and for both of us, the bill was less than 40GBP, and we left totally stuffed. So good! I will return!

If I didn’t live on the other side of London, I would eat here all the time. I make time for this place b/c it’s worth it. Truly the best chicken I’ve ever eaten. Super moist and flavorFULL. I recommend this place to anyone that is in west London. The bread that they make in the front of the restaurant is so good. The variety of spreads are amazing. So good to eat with the breads and the meats. Portions are great. I recommend ordering the combo and sharing with someone else and also ordering the spreads. You’ll get the best of all the flavors and dishes. I love that the food doesn’t feel oily or heavy. Tastes fresh and homemade. Cash only.

this is the best iranian restaurant ive ever eaten at. the location in kensington is a little far away from both main tube stations but it’s worth it for sure. the bread smell from the tanoor at the front of the restaurant is lovely, and seeing them make the bread is great, adds a real authenticity to it. the starters are all really nice and the service is good. the place itself is small, almost like a café type place but there is an outside bit thats lush and green and looks really nice. but when the food is so good it really doesnt matter about the décor so much. i always go for the kabob barg which is just so well seasoned and cooked. the rice is delicious too and it comes with a tomato(which i dont eat so i give to my mum!) the bread is great and yogurt dips are good too. the rice is cooked just perfectly and the portions are really big. for the price, it’s great. just the best place if you want authentic iranian food that wont break the budget but will make you feel like you’re in iran!

As far as Persian restaurants go — this one is 5-star worthy! They have the BEST Joojeh. Everything we had was great. Lean on the pocketbook– 44 pounds for a meal for three. Truly a gem!

Mohsen was recommended to me by an Iranian friend. What an excellent recommendation! My boyfriend and I tried it last Friday after going to the rugby. The menu is pretty compact: a few starters, a list of grills and a daily special. I cannot pretend to know much about Persian cuisine or what the Farci names for the dishes we ordered were but what we did order was delicious — every single, generously portioned dish. Starters: feta cheese and mixed herbs, aubergine and walnut dip(this was especially good), yoghurt with cucumber(like tsatziki) and freshly made flatbread. Main: we shared a mixed grill which consisted of skewers of tender grilled chicken, lamb chops, minced lamb and grilled tomatoes, served with basmati rice topped with fragrant saffron rice. The meat was grilled to perfection and the rice beautifully fluffy. Don’t forget to use the flatbread to mop up the ‘jus’ from the grilled meats! The service is surly(although I am convinced that beneath that brusque façade the ‘mama’ of the house has a heart of gold) but this is no fine-dining experience. The interior is simple and rustic(proper rustice, not ‘designer’ rustic!) One goes for excepetional food. In and out… With leftovers kindly doggy-bagged for lunch the next day. I am fortunate to live very close by so this will definitely be a staple dining venue going forward.
