All around fast and very welcoming place. The calamari is delicious and the fish and chips is perfectly crispy on the outside and nice and tender inside. Loved it!

One of my favorite pubs in London. Friendly bar staff. They make great recommendations. Also really enjoyed the food. Great location.

A charming English pub right across from the British Museum. Besides the great location, you can also expect excellent food and service. We ordered the Steak and Ale Pie, which was wonderful, and the sausage and mash, also quite good. Along with a great selection of beers, you can’t go wrong here.

This is an excellent pub just across from the British Museum. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. My granddaughter & I stopped in here and split a Pulled Pork Nachos for dinner. It was quite good; just perfect for us at the time.

Ambiance très sympa. Musique un peu rétro. Les prix sont légèrement surévalués compte tenu de la proximité avec le British Museum, mais c’est certainement le bar le plus agréable du coin… Enjoy!

Although in a touristy location right across from the British museum, somehow feels intimate, cozy and local. Wonderful bartenders and service. And a great variety of beer. Will be back!

Pd. Los platos están muy bonitos. Si puedes roba uno !

Rock solid Taylor Walker pub opposite of the British Museum, not explicitly rip-offish. Despite its touristy location, this pub offers a good selection of real ales and craft lagers from the UK and abroad at OK prices(beer is never cheap in London, not at even at JDW joints!), as well as the expected streamlined Taylor Walker menu. Last time I was there(early May 2015) I had the«deluxe» fish and chips(see photo), which is really a portion for the big boys! But one can also go for any of their patented«sharer platters,» they’ll surely fill your stomach. The décor is comfy and moderately stylish, all dark wood. As one may expect at this location, things can get *very* busy after 1 p.m., so if you want to to eat your lunch in relative silence, you should show up not too far after the clock strikes twelve. And if you’re looking for an alternative to the Dutch/German lager variety I can safely recommend Portobello Pilsener and Meantime’s London Pilsener. The fish & chips were predictably excellent, with green peas, toast with butter, two different dips, and pickled onions on the side. The fish was crisp and firm, the beer batter appropriately crunchy. Good quality pub grub indeed. As one of relatively few British pubs this one offers table service, but you can also order your drinks and food from the bar.

Nice and friendly pub near the museum where you can actually get food on a Sunday. Food: A very generous offering of fish, chips and various sauces. All were well prepared and had good flavor. No complaints. Drink: seemed to have a pretty large selection of ales on tap and pull. Service: After trying to get pub food in a number of other places on our walk home it became clear that pubs do not serve food on Sunday(news to us). We were alerted to the possibility that Museum Tavern did serve and arrived a few minutes past 9. We were told that they stopped serving food at 9 but after a small negotiation, they made an exception for us. The servers and bartender were all friendly and helpful. Location: It seems to draw in quite a few tourists as the museum is nearby and there are a number of hotels in the area. Décor: it had just enough Victoriana to suit my image of pub life. Recommendation: pop in for a bite and beer… particularly on Sunday

What a fun place! I actually met Americans like me there! The bartenders are so friendly & full of advice & info! One waiter room about 10 minutes of his time to tell us about tourism. So much appreciated & informational! Drinks are great as are appetizers. Probably going back tomorrow!

Genuine oldy victorian pub opposite the museum selling good British food and genuine real ale. Lots of polished dark wood and leather seating. Beer quality good though limited and a little pricey.

What a find! Popped in after the Museum for a small bite, and before we knew it our small table was covered with food, glorious food! And the drinks on offer, oh, mulled wine! and ales and beers and so much more. Filled with tourists and locals, it’s a lovely place to grab a tasty bite and relax just a bit. Enjoy!

Great place for lunch when visiting the British Museum, it’s literally directly across the street. A few tables outside, but the interior is comfortable and relaxing with a huge bar and ample number of tables. Philip had their Ultimate Fish and Chips and was quite a fan. I had the steak and whiskey pie and it was quite good(though I still prefer Guinness in a pie!). Friendly staff, reasonable prices, great locale.

Being this close to the Museum I expected lackluster food and service given the captive audience. However the fish n chips and even their burgers are with the hundred paces to leave the artifacts. Pricing is reasonable and portions are generous. Clientele is predominantly locals and plentiful. You might have to wait to get a table. Seating is intimate and limited. Only complaint is their offering of Pepsi. :(

Okay, maybe not the nicest staff on the planet, but they have Crabbies mulled wine. I didn’t know what this was before I came here and it’s pretty much the only thing that will make me forget that I’ve walked 10 miles daily to see the city. Other than that, despite it’s proximity to the British Museum(across the street), there are barely any tourists here and the places is relatively quiet. It’s definitely a nice resting spot after seeing the sites and I feel like it’s location deters most people from going in, which is why it’s so peaceful and nice when you actually go in.

Only referring to the food: Looks better than it taste. Ordered the steak and ale pie. Came out picture perfect and piping hot. The pie crust was flaky but tastes like refrigerator/freezer. The steak inside had that old, cooked-more-than-36-hours ago– reheated, flavor. I’m pretty sure that the meat was the leftovers of yesterday’s(more like two days ago) roast beef, which was just cut-up and used as the filling. It’s my first time eating this english classic dish, but I know what it’s not supposed to taste like. The people are really nice, but that’s about it.

Spending a few hours exploring the British Museum works up quite a thirst. Conveniently, there is a great pub right across the street. I find myself in this pub every time I’m in town and always have a blast. Bartenders are cool and help me out with the different beers to choose from, as they are all new to me. This time around I was drinking Doom Bar. What I love most is that I can pop in maybe once a year and still find pub regular Graham at the bar to catch up with over a few pints. Until next time, cheers!

Maybe it was the time of night we went, but I didn’t find it touristy at all. One of my British co-workers had a CAMRA guide and this pub was in it. It is conveniently located across from the British Museum. Most of the group just wanted drinks, but there were a couple of us who had not had dinner, so we were hoping for some food. I can’t remember what time we showed up, but the waitress allowed us to order some food, however we had limited options since they were closing up the kitchen. My friend had a tuna sandwich and I had the Nachos. The Nachos were pretty good. The se

Typique Tout près du British Muséum, ce pub très fréquenté, est assez typique et une bonne ambiance y règne. La bière anglaise n’étant ma préférée je participe mais plutôt au whisky.
