One of the best food outlets in Euston station, but that in itself isn’t a difficult thing to achieve. Tucked away by platform 8, you might walk past it and not even realise. Once you find it though it’s not bad. The sushi was tasty, if a bit expensive. I’d buy lunch from here again.

Of all the food outlets in Euston station, Nam Po has to be my favourite! They’re open until around 10pm every day, serving a variety of far-eastern cuisine. There’s Sushi/Maki/Sashimi in the chiller cabinet. Hot noodles, rice/curry dishes, steamed buns, and katsu all available from the hot plates in classic takeout cartons. The Sinagpore chicken noodles(with extra sweet-chilli sauce) is a particular favourite, and the Lamb Massaman curry and the Malay Vegetable curry. But watch out for the paper on the bottom of the steamed buns! They also do various flavours of noodle soup. The quality of the food is quite good, for takeout at this price. Always hot, filling and full of flavour, yet not too spicy. The noodles are pretty good quality, although the sauce in some of the curries can be a little on the greasy side… I can’t comment on the sweet and sour as I’ve never tried it. There is a decent selection of drinks available with both alcoholic and soft drinks. Deserts are a bit of an after thought with only chocolate /fruit biscuit finger snacks and pop-corn available. Prices are very affordable for good-sized individual portions, and they are part of Euston’s «BITE» card scheme which gives a healthy discount to members(free). If you’re hungry and in a hurry, or have time to kill while waiting for a train and want something hot and filling, this is for you!

What’s a man to do for a snack at a railway station? I fonud myself in Euston station with time only for a quick snack before meeting a friend A quick perusal of the options in the station wasn’t too exciting or enlightening but nam-po at least sounded more interesting. This Asian eatery does probably try too hard to be all things to all men. There’s a selection of hot dishes. There’s pre-packed sushi. There are sarnies in the chilled section. Then, I spotted char siu pow for £1.15. Perfect for my needs. It wasn’t the biggest pow in the world but the filling was meaty and not overly sweet while the consistency of the pow dough was spot on 4 stars for the pow. The other options didn’t look quite as good

I really really like the idea of Nam-po…and I am glad that Euston station has somewhere new, asian and yummy-sounding. I spotted Freya’s review so went to grab some noodles to take with me on the train to Manchester. It sounded like it would be sooo much better than a M&S sarnie! But alas… it Nam-po just didn’t do it for me. My Tom Yum Noodle Soup wasn’t very spicy(it didn’t really have much flavour.) I wouldn’t go as far as to call it ‘Tom Yuck’ but it wasn’t impressive at all, and I didn’t finish it. *Sigh*

Oh it’s time for lunch. Where shall we go? Euston… do we have to? Well it’s close and nothing else is open… ok ok ok let’s go, quickly. So dull. Out of all London termini one could have been situated near, Euston is probably the least desirable. But I am pleased to say there has been a bright new addition to the chain-store populated concourse– south east Asian nam-po! located next to Millie’s cookies if you’re searching for it. They serve up fresh varieties of quick food(trying to not say ‘fast’ for the connotation but the service is speedy). Everything from phở-like soup noodles to tom yam curries all costing about £4.50 which is great. All delightfully packaged in vibrantly coloured cardboard boxes which somewhat improve the walk back across the windswept station plaza and horrendously inefficient bus station. This is a truly appreciated addition to the lunch crawl.
